  1. Hi, I'd like to keep my trip under $600 if possible. I can spend more, but ONLY if it's worth that value. From my research, my flight is $900 with tax so I'd like to keep my hotel to a minimum. I proposed to my fiance during the winter and am going to spend time with her family but I can't stay at her house. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
  2. I didn't realize you emphasized the priorities. Over the course of three or four days, depending on how many nights we book, I want to take her around to a lot of the famous restaurants, take her to SoHo, maybe watch a play on Broadway, take in Time Square, and go to a couple nice cocktail bars. We may or may not go to the Statue of Liberty, depending on the weather conditions.
  3. I would say 1. Star rating 2. Location 3. Ability to extend trip 4. Budget When you say downtown, are you referring to the Financial District area? If possible, I'd prefer to be a little bit more centralized than that, although if push came to shove I suppose I wouldn't be so adamant as to forego compromise. I'm a little curious as to when you say stay Downtown to get an extra day. Are you saying that I could find such a price difference that I could pay the same amount for three nights at a downtown hotel as I could for two nights at a central hotel, assuming that the hotels are the same star rating? If that is what you're saying, I could definitely make that deal. Essentially, the priorities for this stay are tourism purposes. My finance has never been to the States and I want to show her New York. In order for the extension in days, I would say if I could cap it at around $400~$420 with taxes, it would be ideal. I am ready to commit now if I am able to find the right place, so long as I find a good deal.
  4. I can go as earliest as the 15th and return as late as the 28th, so long as the dates don't over lap with Christmas or Christmas Eve. If I stay longer, I can stay for one or two more days, so long as the price is reasonable. The financial district offered some good express deals hovering at around $130 for both priceline and hotwire, though I have yet to auction. The star range was, as I remember, 4 stars and up.
  5. I'm willing to look at other zones, I've looked at everything from Time Square to the Financial District and while this might not be that far in distance, in terms of the number of hotels there were just way too much. I'm focused mainly on Time Square or the Madison Square Garden area, and anything in between or within walking distance to those areas. Would the 20th~22nd still be a lower price since it includes that Sunday in the middle? Also, if I were to extend the stay by a day, does that do anything for the price at all?
  6. Dates are flexible, but I was under the impression that hotel prices are cheapest during the weekend. I'm willing to go above the $115 range, but the reason I did auction was because I was trying to get the most bang for my buck, so even if I spend a $150, I'd like to spend a $150 on auction and get a 4 star as opposed to spending $150 on express and getting a 3.5 or 3 star. The only reason we're trying to stay at Time Square is because of it's location and my fiance has never been to the States before, so I thought it'd be nice for her to be somewhere famous across the globe, but it's not anything that's required. Basically, we're pretty flexible but the key is that if I pay more for the hotel, I'd like quality. Any additional advice would be greatly appreciated :)
  7. I'm planning to go to New York with my fiance mid to late December, around the 19th for two days. Ideally, we'd like to stay in Time Square, but I've been having a bit of an issue gauging how much I should bet on Priceline. I've gone around the $115 area based on the list provided on this site, but to no avail. If my fiance is coming from overseas and has never been to New York before, do you guys think Time Square is better? The financial district definitely has a lot of nice options, but I'm just worried about walking around and coming all the way back at night will get a little cold. Let me know what you guys think, thanks!
