  1. Love this hotel and stay there whenever in Montreal. I was not aware it was on HOTWIRE (duh)
  2. Well, I guess I didn't post the final results of this one after all. I got really ill after that last trip and am only just now travelling again...guess with all the hospital s___ going on, I forgot my manners and did not end this thread the right way. Anyway, we got the 3* Murray Hill East Suites from Nov 1- Nov 4 2009 at $195 a night. Amenities were suite, fitness, kitchenette, laundry. We had an enormous suite at the back of the hotel - quiet and really comfortable. Initially they tried to put us in a smaller noisier suite at the front of the hotel which we refused as it was not made up. The hotel clerk also made a couple of remarks indicating they usually tried to give inferior rooms to people who used Hotwire so watch for this.
  3. I was checking this out for friends and had the same concerns you raise. They ended up booking a suite at the University of Vancouver - a pretty good deal but not available through HOTWIRE
  4. apologies for not closing off this thread previously. We ended up booking a place in Murray Hill through the HOTWIRE links here. I thought I had posted all the information as we got a terrific deal. I'll double check.
  5. apologies for not closing this thread before - we ended up staying at a B&B near St. Stephen's Green and not using HOTWIRE.
  6. with complimentary breakfast and internet access - any idea what this would be??
  7. We had a great time at this hotel. Though busy, all the staff were very efficient and friendly. At reception, we were offered, and accepted, an upgrade to the renovated tower for $20. It was worth doing.
  8. Amenities were Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business Nightly rate was $103 + $20.30 Tax recovery charges and fees. I was able to identify the hotel prior to booking, thanks to your hotel listing. There was a four star at a better rate (Intercontinental, I am guessing, by the amenities) but the Delta location was better for us. I used your HOTWIRE link. Thanks for being here.
  9. I'm seeing a 4* Times Square hotel at $169 with the following icons - fitness, restaurant, business centre, internet. It's also flagged as best value. My guess is it's the Crowne Plaza which would suit us just fine. What do you think? I see from your calendar that back in June someone got this for $119 (great price!). I was hopeful that the price would drop again but then saw your comment in another posting that November is a busy time for this area. Any advice would be appreciated. And of course I will use your HOTWIRE link when I bite the bullet. Many thanks
  10. I just noticed this could also be the Maldron Hotel, Cardiff Lane...a poster on the TA Dublin forum said this is what they have when using Hotwire for a 4 starhotel in Dublin South Inner City. The booking was made in May for September and the rate was US$120 which is not much of a deal compared to the internet rate available on the hotel website (Euro87). So I guess I'll hold off.
  11. Hotwire does not give amenities for Dublin hotels (grr). But for the dates above, I have found what seems to be a great rate (US $95 per day) for a 4 star hotel in Dublin South Inner City. The TripAdvisor 'clues' are that the hotel is rated 4 stars out of 5, has over 300 ratings, and the last rating was in July 2009. This seems to correspond to the Brooks Hotel whose regular rate for this period is 175 Euros a night. If so, I am inclined to nab it but would appreciate a bit of positive reinforcement before leaping into the abyss. And of course I will use this Board's HOTWIRE link. Many thanks
  12. Sorry about being so late getting back to you. Plans changed and we did not take the trip. So I guess the hotel is still a mystery!
  13. Hotwire is showing a 4 star hotel in Barbados for August 13 at $146. Icons are suite, pool, restaurant, laundry and internet. The only 4 star I have seen previously on Hotwire is the Hilton but the icons don't seem to match the ones on your pined list. Any idea what this one is ? Many thanks
  14. of course - resort, airport shuttle, smoke free, fitness centre, pool, restaurant, business centre, high speed internet, golf nearby, tennis nearby, spa
  15. Happy to get this and I used the HOTWIRE link. Total cost including taxes for the two nights is $167.17. And I understand there is a $15-16 resort fee that we will pay once we get there. hmmm - somehow the info re daily rate got cut off...$72 per night. And the dates...May 28-30.
  16. I used the BB HOTWIRE link today to make the booking and, as expected, it was the Golden Nugget. Dates: May14-18 2008 @ $113 per night. Total including fees and taxes - $502.61. Icons were: resort, casino, fitness, pool, restaurant, business centre, internet and spa. Many thanks.
  17. The reservation dates I am looking at are May 14-18 2008. (4 nights). For $113 a night, HOTWIRE is offering a 4 star downtown...the icons are resort, casino, fitness, pool, restaurant, business centre, internet and spa. My assumption is that this would this be the Golden Nugget except for the fact that there is an internet icon. The internet icon does not appear in the Better Bidding listing for this hotel. Many thanks (and of course I am using the BB HOTWIRE link to make the reservation).
  18. Right - I do realize this is the normal strategy and that this hotel is not currently in the pinned lists for hotwire or priceline. I just wondered whether any of your other members might have achieved this hotel and not yet posted their results. Many thanks.
  19. Hi, I'd appreciate any info about getting this place on Hotiwre (preferably) or Priceline. Not that it's the greatest in the world, but the location is exactly what I need for a quick trip to To. Any idea what the HOTWIRE icons and stars would be ? Many thanks.
  20. Thanks so much - if the Citadine, then it's likely the onc in Covent Garden as the others (South Ken, Trafalgar Square, Holburn) would, I believe, be in different hotwire zones according to their map. This Citadine gets fairly poor to moderate reviews, so I think I will not be pursuing the bid further. And I will use the HOTWIRE link here when I DO bid. I thought that you no longer had your direct link. So sorry. Thank you so much
  21. Hi - I'm hoping for help identifying a 3 star Hotwire Hotel hotel in Bloomsbury-Marble Arch. My dates are November 22-26, 2006. The amenities shown are restaurant, business centre, kitchenette. Price offered is $164 a night. Does anyone recognize this ? And, yes, I am using the link at Savingsbarn to make the bid. Many thanks
  22. The credit came through on my latest statement. Saga ended.
  23. I got an email today from Hertz saying the double charge had been reversed and I would soon see a credit on my account. Fingers crossed. :)
  24. Wll, this is getting interesting. The total cost for this July rental was, of course, paid at the time Hotwire confirmed the deal (May) and appeared on my credit card bill for that month. Now, August, I get another credit card bill on which, to my surprise, appears a charge from Hertz Calgary (dated July). Not only is this double charging, the amount billed by Hertz is some $300 more than the Hotwire charge. So I phoned up the Hertz 1-800 number. The agent checked out the file and said it looked as though the Hotwire payment had been received by Hertz International but never transferred to the Calgary Branch. So Calgary just went ahead and charged me again, even though the agent there was aware I had prepaid through Hotwire. In fact she even mentioned this at the time I picked up the car. The Hertz agent at 1-800 said it would take about a week for them to sort this out. Meanwhile, I have called my credit card company and told them the story. If I don't get a satisfactory solution in 7 days, I will call the credit card company again and initiate a 'disputed charge' process. I'll keep you posted !
  25. Just an update on how this transaction went. 1. The processing time at the Hertz desk was VERY slow. :) 2. The car was supposed to come with unlimited mileage but the contract said 1200km. :) "Oops," said the agent, when I pointed this out. "This keeps happening with Hotwire bookings. I'll make the correction." Anyone using Hotwire and getting Hertz SHOULD ALWAYS CHECK to make sure your contract has the correct mileage provisions. 3. The car was a two door Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The agent said this was a complimentary upgrade. I had asked for (and confirmed by phone) that we would be getting a four door. Also the car did not have enough head room for two tall people - our heads poked well into the roof, even when we lowered the seats as far as they could go. :) 4. We asked for a different car - four door and taller so that we could drive safely without developing hunchbacks. This was provided without any objection but of course took m ore time to process. The new car was a Chevrolet HHR (PT curiser knock of). It was just fine. :o 5. Returning the car was a breeze. Check in was fast and efficient. :D
