Guys, Thank you for your valuable advise. This renders me to drop the newark area hotel and retain Hilton Newark Penn Station. The latest i would like to travel is about midnight and not later than that. I would be willing to bid on a hotel in Secaucus as indicated by Joninvb and my research yields that priceline are offering a hotel (with free internet, breakfast and parking) in its express deals at $133.5 per night. Other amenities include: Free Breakfast Free Internet in room Free Parking Pets Allowed Restaurant Business Center Fitness Center Please advise whether I should be bidding for a hotel in this area (and the appropriate bidding strategy). The options for now include the Hilton Newark Penn station, the express deal for $133.5 in Secaucus area and the name your own price bidding hotel (which i would need to initiate) Thanks and looking forward from hearing from you guys.

Hi All, I shall be travelling to New York from 16th October (flight lands at 1500 at JFK) and leaving New York on October 19th (Sunday evening). I have a budget of around $120-140 per night. I am travelling to the States for the first time and I'm unaware of the local areas hence need special guidance. My requirements for the hotel are as indicated below: 1) Hotel Star rating 3.5*-4* 2) Hotel area should be safe for late night travelling etc. I would like to avoid any dodgy areas. 3) The Hotel can be situated out of New York City too provided point number 2 is fulfilled and as long as I have easy access to Manhattan through Public transport (travelling no more than 40-50 min from the hotel to Manhattan). A subway link in that area would be preferred but without a subway would also do as long as the other means of public transport is convenient and inexpensive. (not more than 2- changes to reach the center and vice versa). Furthermore the public transport should also be operational till late hours in the night. 4) The purpose of the trip is sight seeing and exploring the New York City. Hotel will be required mostly for a comfortable sleep. My own research yielded the following results, my reservations/drawbacks towards this choice are in the brackets: Hotwire: $108 Newark Intl Airport EWR area Hotel 3.5* with free parking,free internet, fitness center, airport shuttle and self service laundry. It is 90% recommended by hotwire users and 4 out of 5 trip adviser rating. (I'm not sure how far this area is and whether this area would fulfill the conditions stated in point 2 and 3) Some site deal: Hilton Newark Penn Station $123 per night. If someone could advise whether I should take one of the two above hotels in accordance with my requirements (whilst also making a good guess for the hotwire deal) or should I bid at Priceline (provided I have somewhat a chance to avail a better hotel). If bidding is proposed please let me know the strategy too. In advance, I would like to thank you for your help and I really appreciate the effort of this forum.
