  1. Just a bit of info if you haven't been Amalfi before... Driving and parking around the Amalfi coast can be treacherous. Free parking would be really useful if stopping in Amalfi zone on Priceline as otherwise you'll risk other drivers bumping your rental car when parking. Trust me I have seen locals nudge their way into spaces too small for their cars through force. Ravello, Minori and Maiori are all beautiful too. If you don't stop there I would recommend you visit. Staying in this zone would probably mean you will be driving into Amalfi to visit, then parking could be difficult (depending upon where you are going).
  2. I was pretty sure this was going to be The Bristol. Happy that it is as it looks a great place to stay. 4* City Center - Harbourside - Blue Reef Aquarium area hotel Boutique Oceanfront Restaurant Fitness Smoke Free Free Internet Hi-Speed Internet Business Free Parking
  3. Looks a nice hotel. Stretched my budget a bit but it is her 30th after all... Thanks.
  4. Hi, Just after a bit of help constructing a bidding strategy for my upcoming London trip. My budget is a maximum $95 before tax for a 4* in any of the below zones (they are listed in preference but that's not too much of a worry): Bloomsbury, Mayfair, Westminster, The City, I can see that I have 7 rebid zones (Arsenal, Clapham, Finchley, Hampton Court, Northwest London, Southall, Southwark). How do I put this information into the best bidding strategy? I know I may be pushing it a little but this trip looks like it will cost me an arm and a leg as the mrs has booked VERY expensive theatre tix... Thanks, John
  5. Thanks guys for your help. Looks a nice hotel in a great location. Very happy with the cost.
  6. Hi No joy as yet bidding. Although I've been very cautious so far. Not in a great rush to book. My dad is now addicted at looking at secret rooms/express deals. His addiction has seen him consider to offer money towards the hotel. Could you please try and ID the following rooms for our stay. Used Bidding.Helper to search for 2 rooms, 4 adults, in Manhattan for 04/03/2015 - 04/08/2015. Hotel 1 - $210 per night on Priceline 3.5* MSG Amenities: free breakfast + free internet + pets allowed + business centre + gym/spa Guest score: 8+ Hotel 2 - $193 per night on Priceline 4* ESB Amenities: restaurant + business centre Guest score: 8+ Hotel 3 - $206 per night on Hotwire 4* ESB Amenities: restaurant + business centre + self-service laundry Hotwire Customer Reviews: 95% recommended Thanks in advance John
  7. Thanks. So for $150 I may get a 3 star in some of those zones. It may be best to reject Central Park South as my dad is 6ft2 and a heavy build. From the reviews I've just read he would struggle at the Hudson. Also we'll forget Midtown East just to try and avoid the lengthier walk to a subway. The others seem fine. A friend of mine mentioned that Chelsea was nice so don't mind the little walk for that. So to confirm, could you help with a bidding strategy for the following areas (I will be bidding): Midtown West Chelsea Empire State Building Madison Square Garden Times Square Thanks again Johnno
  8. Thanks Aaron for your speedy response So if I stretch my budget a little (maybe from my parents) I may have joy at $150 per night. That's about $1,800 after tax for the stay and something I could achieve. I am expecting pretty measley room size. Thanks for the heads up. Any zones that are reasonable but with good connections. We are pretty subway savy having regularly visited London. So what star rating could I get through Priceline bidding for $150 in a decent to good location? Again could you please advise me on locations as I will be an Alien in America. Thanks John
  9. Hi My parents were kind enough to book me, my wife and themselves flights to New York. In return I have agreed to find and pay for the accommodation. My budget it about $1,500 after taxes. Which I guess is about $120 dollars per room per night list price. My father is a big man and not much of a walker. Nor is my mom tbh. None of us are particularly famililiar with New York and the zones on Priceline. It is important to us that we have a location that would allow my parents to walk to some of the sites and be close to a decent tube line. Could anyone be kind enough to suggest which zones to bid for? What kind of star hotel could I get for my budget? Thanks in advance Johnno
  10. Booked through Expe.dia as I got discount as my flight was booked with them. I booked Garden Inn and Suits for $94 after taxes. Which is about $80 before tax. We are meeting friends in Buffalo as previously posted. I still need to sort out a stay in Manhattan for 03/04/15 for 5 nights. Do I do that as a different post or can I ask for help here?
  11. Okay. I think i'll get onto my parents to commit to an itinerary. Then i'll post again with definite needs. Do I need to close this thread?
  12. Sorry I'll use Dollars in all my posts from now on. I knew I would need to do that bidding over numerous days. If you can see a better strategy id be very grateful. We are not totally sure about our plans in NYC as we have 8 nights in total. We don't think we can afford all 8 nights in Manhattan. We are also toying with the idea of going to Niagara Falls. We may also stay with some friends that live not far from Buffalo. Could you please just advise me on a bidding stategy for somewhere convenient for JFK and reasonably priced. Maybe 2.5 or 3* for approx $90-$100. Thanks again John
  13. Sorry. Newbie error. On further inspection Washington Heights and Bronx aren't in the same region as JFK so cannot be used to gain bids. However I see that Jamaica (max 2*) and elmhurst (max2.5*) are. So how's this? JFK 3* bid £40 JFK JAM 3* bid £45 JFK JAM ELM 3* £50 JFK 3* bid £54 JFK JAM 3* bid £57 JFK JAM ELM 3* £60 JFK 2.5* bid £35 JFK JAM 2.5* bid £40 JFK 2.5* bid £45 JFK JAM 2.5* bid £50 Is this the right type of strategy? Have I overlooked anything? Is this realistic? Thanks in advance Johnno
  14. Thanks for your warm welcome. For this single night we would like to spend around £50-60 before possible heading into Manhattan for the remainder of our stay. Although it could stretch a little if it's nice and convenient. This is just a quick stop to catch up on sleep and commute in the following day. I believe there are no 3* hotels for Washington heights and Bronx. So would my strategy be built around that? Thanks again Johnno
  15. Hi I'm completely new to priceline and betterbidding so please be easy on me :) I recently booked flights for to New York for me, my wife and my parents for March 31st. We land at JFK quite late so are looking for a reasonably priced, comfortable stay somewhere close to the airport. A few questions... - Is bidding on priceline effective for 2 rooms? - When would be best to look? Now or wait? - How much should I expect to pay for a 2.5-3* (Express deals seem to start around £70 - will I get it much cheaper than that as we will be in and out pretty swiftly)? Thanks in advance Johnno
