  1. Yes Octoberfest starts that week. Otherwise would have been much much lower. I got it for a one night stay on September 8 for $60
  2. I've been trying for over a month to no avail. Finally got one booked and at a heck of a discount it seeems. This go around started at $128 (my previous high bid was up to $125). To my surprise was given a counter offer of $22. Declined offer and added Munich south and bid $131. Nothing went through so I added the Airport and bid $135. Bingo!!!! Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$135.00 Subtotal: US$405.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$83.47 Total Charges: US$488.47

for those having a tough day...please have a laugh at my expense i always wondered why this guy thought the plane might be headed to oregon man am i slow....i just got the joke as the tears roll down my face i can't figure out if im laughing at the joke or at my own stupidity...prob both :-)
  4. bidding on airfare is like bidding for hotels....you make up a price your willing to pay and then priceline will search to see if any airlines are willing to accept your offer price i'd advise you to read up on the priceline bidding rules/regulations before you start once your offer is accepted nothing can be changed on the ticket no matter what the circumstance is
  5. Using dates of Feb 8 to Feb 12 the going rate seems to be 370 inc tax. United seems to have the shortest flying times. Using the dates with HOTWIRE a 259 price inc taxes came up as a limited time offer. Keep in mind you will not know the airline or flying times until after purchase. If times are of no concern I would suggest using priceline and shooting a low ball number to try and get a 200 fare inc taxes. hope this helps....good luck!!!
  6. snooze you lose....my friends went to book the ticket and delta is now over 3k for those dates!!!....unbelievable, do the airlines actually believe someone would pay 3k for a seat back in cattle car....geesh
  7. thanks....yeah that 1186 is all inclusive....its just that it departs on the 24th and arrives into bkk on the 26th at like 12:10 am.....i was hoping i could get them out earlier so they wouldnt have to spend xmas on a plane but i guess being high season it doesnt look like thay have any other options....
  8. Ive been trying to get tickets for my friends to come visit me for the holidays but I'm having a heck of a time as airfare prices are just outrageous. They really don't want to spend more than $1100. Their ideal travel dates are Dec 22 to Jan 8 but are somewhat flexible. After countless hours of playing around with different variations I found a flight on Delta for $1186 thru their website. I've tried searchcing thru priceline but for some reason it says no fares are available????....strange So I guess I'm looking for input as to whether they should book now or wait with the possibility of prices coming down when the airlines realize they havnt sold all their inventory....was thinking like maybe around thanksgiving which would put it at a 30 day window. Or should I try and bid thru priceline on the dates where I found the $1186. They aren't worried about miles or layovers so was thinking maybe that would be a good option......was thinking starting at $700 for the bid??? Any help/advice you all have would be much appreciated....thx!!!
  9. Did you already book thru priceline at 459? Was this a bid price or just a regular fair. The fair is now 414 for american airlines on both priceline and the aa website. If you have already booked and the win wasn't a bid win.....then i would check what fare class you have for your current ticket and compare it to the fare class of the 414 ticket. If they are the same and if im not mistaken then you are entitled to a refund of the difference. Did you make an attempt at bidding for the airfare at all....if not i think you should have at least tried. You might have been able to get the fare for 375 or less.
  10. Bidding as follows: 5* bids of $72 and $76 rejected (2nd bid includes airport).....logged out so I could have 2 bids at 3* 3* bid of $61 (downtown) accepted Total charges $150.03 Extremely excited with this bid as it was for my parents and they always get nervous when I book overseas hotels for them!!! I skipped the bid on 4* as I really didnt want the Renaissance and if I did get upgraded so be it. Any tricks to avoid PL searching for star levels above what your bidding on??? Elsewhere the 3* wins in the past have been the marriott and mercure. Marriott goes for $150 + tax a night on internet websites and the Mercure can be had for $76 inclusive of taxes. Even though the Mercure has good reviews I really wanted the Marriott, decided to roll the dice and just happened to luck out!!! used savingsbarn.com for my purchase
  11. Bid of $48 not accepted but recieved counter offer to increase bid by $14. Added Jersey City and my re-bid of $51 was accepted. Hilton Hotel at Newark Airport. used www.savingsbarn.com
  12. First bid of $28 was rejected. Received a counteroffer to increase by $7. Chose not to accept counteroffer and added downtown. Bid increase of 2 and price of $30 was accepted. used www.savingsbarn.com

    ORD-ORF

I just booked a flight on priceline from ord to orf. My bid of $130 was accepted 1st try!! The total purchase price came to $176. I wonder how much lower I could have gone??? My question is this. I really wanted to return on the 11th, however I need to be back in the morning and therefore couldnt take the risk of getting an evening flight. My flight on the 10th does get in in the a.m. I would love it if I could get the exact flight which I have on the 10th and just bump it back to the 11th. I realize the flight is non-refundable/changeable but was wondering has anyone had any success in the past trying to change days via calling the airling or calling priceline?? Thanks in advance for any advise you may have to offer!!!
  14. Wanted to extend my reservation for two days. I decided to "roll the dice" and re-bid instead of just extending my orginal reservation from the previous post. My bid of $26 for two nights was not accepted. Logged back in and bid for one night at $30. Price was accepted and extended my reservation for the additional night.
  15. Bids of $46 for 3* and 2.5* were rejected. Bid of $40 on 2* accepted....wonder if I should have gone lower??? Seems like a reasonable travelodge....free cont'l breakfast and free wireless!!!
  16. Bidding was as follows: 7/3-7/11 2.5* bids of 32, 36, 40 not accepted 2* bid of 28 not accepted 7/4-7/11 2.5* bids of 32, 36, 40 not accepted 2* bid of 32 not accepted 7/5-/11 2.5* bids of 32, 36, 40 not accepted 2* bid of 34 accepted After I won I was given the option to extend my stay..... which I did and my price of 34 was accpeted for 7/3-7/5 Candlewood Suites Website says free wireless which is great!! Has anyone stayed here before??? If so any ideas as to how much it might cost to upgrade to the 1 bedroom suite. The website lists a $16 difference between the studios and suites. Also in case anyone is wondering why I never altered my 2.5* and up bid it was because hotwire had a 2.5 star listed for my dates at $41 so I was using that as a safety net. It was listed as a kitchenette as well so I can only assume it was probably the candlewood.....looks like I saved a few extra $$$ this way!!!
  17. What an adventure....buyer beware!! So I check in first night and ask for a room with two beds.....was told not possible as they were sold out. I was ok with this as I really did not need 2 beds until the following night. Was told I could get a double the next day and pay the difference in price of the rooms (internet lists a $10 difference) or could get a rollaway. Next day when I went to the office to switch rooms there was a person in front of me getting into it about her debit card being charged for her stay even though she booked on priceline.....I knew this wasn't going to end good for me!!! They said they could give me a double however it was a $25 charge.....after much groveling I agreed (since now they didnt have rollaways available), paid the money and was given a smoking room....ugghhh!!! On a side note.....I ended up locking my keys in my truck and my co-worker who was supposed to arrive that night was involuntarily bumped from his flight as it was overweight. So basically I paid way too much for the room and was late to work b/c I had to wait till he arrived the next morn with the extra set of keys (I was not going to shell out more cash for a locksmith). Sorry for the personal rant..... I recommend this hotel only if you are a single and do not need a double room.....also realize that the hotel is very close to the highway and traffic can be loud at times....
  18. currently at the wyndham.....no problems getting a double non-smoking and was able to check in early....interntet is charged at 10 bucks a day, however if you are a member of their rewards program (free to join) than you can get internet for free.....just tell them you want to use your member # for incidentals and realize that you won't get points for your hotel stay.......overheard from barstaff that hotel will be undergoing a renovation soon...
  19. I have some things going on in jersey city and one event taking place in west nyack which i believe is only like an hour away. I've stayed at the wyndham(doubletree) and hilton b4 but I dont recall seeing the Sheraton. As long as they have the sweet sleeper beds I'll be a happy customer. Thanks for calling the hotel and asking about the internet.
  20. First bid of $52 was rejected. Had the opportunity to re-bid if I raised my price by $15. Decided not to do this. My second bid of $56 was rejected and my third bid of $60 was accepted. Got the Sheraton at EWR. Have not heard anything about this hotel......has anyone stayed there before? If so, do you know if they have high-speed wireless....their website doesn't say anything about having the internet. Used savingsbarn.com for my bid on priceline
  21. Bid of $40 accepted and came to $52 with tax Millenium Hotel
  22. Septemper 1 - September 3 Bids on 3* BUffalo- Grand Island 50----rejected 56----rejected 60----rejected
  23. Not happy with this one. Previous bids for higher star levels did not go through and ended up with an extended stay. Usually would not be so upset however it appears this time that the hotel does not offer any room with two beds. $40 came to $49 with tax. June 24-26
  24. Sorry bout that...will repost second hotel info. Yes you are correct it is the North-Airport area. Bid Info as follows: June 24-28 3* $46 denied 2.5* $42 denied 2* $38 denied June 25-28 3* $52 denied 2.5* $46 and $54 denied 2* $44 denied (this search did not include tanglewood area as I relogged in and did not want a 2 star in that area as it contains a travelodge advertised for $50 a night) June 26-28 3* $46 accepted ($61 advertised on hotwire.....currently listed now at $45...go figure!!!...... however highspeed as an ameniti is not listed so I believe this is a different hotel than the wyndham...) June 24-26 3* $62 denied 2.5* $56 denied 2* $40 accepted (once again this is an extended stay so I am quite upest with this one....)
  25. Was trying to book reservations for June 24-28. None of my bids were successful from 2-3 star...didn't have much room to play around with. Bid 38 2* and up to 52 3*. Finally had to divide my stay in two. Price for a 3* was accepted at 46 for a ck in of June 26 and ck out of June 28. Came to 56 w/ tax and got the Wyndham. Extremely upset with what happened next. Bids for 3* at 62 were not excepted for dates June 24-26. Ended up with a 2* (bid 40 and came to 49 w/tax). The problem is that it is an extended stay. I realize at most extendeds you either can talk your way into a 2 bed rm or have to pay a liitle extra. The problem this time is that it appears this particualr hotel has only queen rooms. Looks like I'll be sleeping on the floor for those nights.....not a happy customer this time!!!!.....fyi these are both airport locations
