  1. So if they show up with 5 will they not be allowed to check in? I think if I choose to get two rooms it will be via PL so I can save a little more $$. Sorry I just realized that I completely left off the hotel I was looking to ID. 3.5* hotel in Downtown -SoHo $282 Amenities are smoke free, fitness center, restaurant and high speed internet. Is it possible this is Hotel Reserve which is 3* and maybe it has been upgraded? The only other 3.5* is club quarters but the amenities are not a match. Thanks!!
  2. So my sister-in- law called me yesterday looking for help as she knows I'm a regular PL user. 2 adults and 3 small kids traveling. She thought they could get one room and it would be ok via PL. Definitely not an option with that many people in NYC!!! They're not particular on area but would prefer a 4* or 3.5* at the least. So I'm thinking either go via PL and book 2 rooms or use Hotwire and put 2 adults and 2 children (hotwire won't let me put 3....any issues with check in and 5 people?). I can't find anything listed available for the star level I'm looking for on Hotwire. I'd be looking for hotels of the Marriott/Hilton level. The only other option I thought might work is the embassy suites. 2 double bed room with a pull out and they'd get full breakfast and evening reception. $490 a night including tax but what can you do!!! They would like to spend no more than $400 a night for either one room or two---just something to accommodate the 5 of them. Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions you might have!!!
  3. Started bidding at $29. Was given counter offer of raising my bid by $7. Declined and rebid at $31, $32, $33 until $34 was finally accepted. HI website says the hotel offers complimentary hors d'oeuvre M-F and Rewards Club members receive one complimentary beverage for each paid night of their stay. Not sure if this will be available for PL wins. Used PRICELINE link to begin my bidding. 4. Decided to get one more room just to be on the safe side and ensure we have enough beds for everyone. Since yesterdays winning bid of $45 was a no go but $47 was, I figured I'd give $46 a shot. Price accepted. Used the PRICELINE link to begin my bidding. Residence Inn By Marriott Norfolk Downtown 3 Star Downtown Norfolk 227 West Brambleton Avenue Norfolk, Virginia 23510 757-842-6216 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $46.00 Subtotal: $46.00 Taxes & Fees: $14.25 Total Charges*: $60.25
  5. Started bidding for a 3* at $43. Was given a counter offer of raising my bid by $12. I declined and added free re-bid zone and bid $45. Price declined. Logged out and bid $47 using different free re-bid zone. Price accepted. I thought for sure I had won the Courtyard. Was totally shocked to find I had won a new hotel. The only downside is that these are king studio rooms and I was hoping to get rooms with two beds. Luckily the rooms are new so the pull-outs should be in decent shape. Plus I've got two rooms so maybe I can talk them into changing at least one of them. Either way free food and free internet works for me!!!! I used the PRICELINE link to begin my bidding. 6. I knew this wasn't going to be cheap as it's fairly last minute and checking HOTWIRE's rates for these dates confirmed my expectations. Sunday was a whole lot cheaper than Monday however I didn't want to take a risk and split my bid as I needed the same room both nights Started bidding at $100 for 3.5* in Capitol Hill area and eventually added White House zone plus used two free re-bid zones. Increased my bid in $15 increments up to $145 to no avail. Logged out and started over bidding on a 3* at a $100. Added free re-bid zone and bid $120 but price was still not accepted. I logged out and re-bid same zone at $130 (glitch in the system must have allowed this) and was given counter-offer of raising my bid by $22. Declined added free re-bid zone and put a bid of $140 in. Price accepted. Used the PRICELINE link to begin my bidding. 9. Thanks for your suggestions. I've posted my win in a new thread.
  10. I've been trying forever to get a room for these dates. In past bids I went up to $110 on a 3* with no luck. Started bidding today at $120 on a 4 * in the Convention Center-Capitol Hill area but price was not accepted. Added White House zone and foolishly upped my bid to $130 right off the bat. I should have added the WH zone and kept my bid the same. Doh! Oh well what's done is done. I probably couldn't have got it much lower anyways. As compared to hotwire it looks like I got a great deal for these dates but I sure don't feel like it!!! Used PRICELINE link to start my bidding Renaissance Mayflower Hotel White House - Downtown 1127 Connecticut Avenue Northwest Washington, District Of Columbia 20036 202-347-3000 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $130.00 Subtotal: $390.00 Taxes & Fees: $66.57 Total Charges*: $456.57
  11. Yeah as much as I hate spending that much I'd be willing to go to $120. I have a meeting at 7am on the 21st at a place just south of the mall so I'd rather not stray too far from that area. Splitting my bid is an option but when I looked at Hotwire it seemed as if rates were pretty much the same for all three nights. Since I'm flying into DCA I guess in theory I could stay there the first night and third night and only stay downtown my second night. *Edit* Never mind about staying near DCA. I just looked and the prices are just as expensive as downtown!!!!
  12. I've been trying for quite some time now to no avail. Originally started at $60 but now I've moved up to $100 at 3* level and still no luck. I really want to get the Convention Center-Capitol Hill Area but also could stay at the White House - Downtown area as well. I'm willing to go down to a lower class hotel area if need be. My priority is location and price. I really don't want to bid higher than $100 but would be willing to go up to $120 (3* level and above) if its required. Do I wait longer? Am i still bidding too far in advance? Thanks for any suggestions you might have!!!!
  13. Bid $30 for a 2.5*. Was given counter-offer of raising my bid by $8. As there are no other zones for this market I was pretty much stuck. Felt like gambling a bit and went down to a 2* and bid $34. Price accepted. Might have been able to get it a dollar or two cheaper but all in all I think I got a good deal. Especially since they offer free breakfast and free internet :) Used PRICELINE link Comfort Suites Lincoln Lincoln 4231 Industrial Avenue Lincoln, Nebraska 68504 402-476-8080 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $34.00 Subtotal: $34.00 Taxes & Fees: $11.45 Total Charges*: $45.45

  15. I'd start now. If you really want fishermans warf start at say maybe $70 for a 3.5 * and then if that doesn't work use rebid zones 1, 4, and 8 (as they do not currently contain 3.5* hotels) and increase your bid in $5 increments. If nothing is accepted try again tomorrow or start bidding on other areas of interest.

  18. My first bid at 2.5 star was accepted and upgraded. Not sure if I could have gone any lower. I did not use the PRICELINE link as the only way I could claim my bonus cash was to use the special link I received via email. Will of course use the PRICELINE link in the future. 19. *Update* So after I booked I went on to a few other websites and found out I could have got the room for $35 including tax. I decided to give Priceline a call and see if I could get some form of a refund. They were very friendly and put me on hold while they looked up the cheaper rate I found. They found the rate and as a result refunded me the difference plus 10% resulting in a credit of $9.27 to my account. To top it off they gave me $50 in bonus cash to use towards my next trip ($10 a night up to a maximum of 5 nights). Lucky me I've got a trip coming up that's for exactly 5 nights! WooHoo :-)
  20. Not too happy with this one. Hooter's website lists a rate of $31.50 Started bidding at $28. Was given a counter offer and choice of raising my bid by $7. 21. I used the PRICELINE box at the top right of the page to enter my search details. Was that not the right link?
  22. Started bidding at $32. Was offered to rebid if I raised my offer by $8. I declined and used free re-bid zone and bid $34 but was rejected. Next bid of $35 was rejected. Using my last free re-bid zone I raised my bid to $37 (based on previous win) and my price was accepted.
