1. Hi, unfortunately the trip was canceled. I'm going to Rochester instead and my travelling companion booked their own room. My apologies for taking up so much time.
2. Yeah, MTE and MSG are fine. The walk would be no problem. But just from personal preference I would want to stay out of Chelsea and ESB zones.
3. Alright, I'm looking at Midtown East, Midtown West, and Times Square. For budget, the goal is to stay under $200/night including fees so I think that translates to a max bid of about $165. It can't hurt to try for a 5* at that price right? Otherwise there are a few 4* hotwire and priceline express deals for around that already. So, would going for a 4* at $125 be reasonable?
4. Thanks, I think I'll go try my luck with priceline bids first. Should I close this thread and post a new one in the priceline forum?
5. Hi, I'm currently looking for a hotel for May 24-27 somewhere in any Midtown or Time Square Region. Hoping to spend less than $200/night and 4* plus. I know Monday is a holiday so I'm not expecting anything too crazy. That being said here's a listing that caught my eye: HOT RATE BOUTIQUE HOTEL Midtown East area 4* $168/night Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Spa services Any guesses?
6. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find anything else cheaper. We'll be sticking with the original reservations that he made.
7. Hi, so I have a bit of an odd situation. I'm going to be in NYC for a short conference at CCNY, arriving next Monday on the 8th and leaving on the 10th Wednesday evening. I'm going to be travelling with my professor and one other student. Currently he has 3 rooms booked for us at the Days Hotel Broadway. The total price for this is a bit over 1600. The truth of the matter is that the reviews for this place aren't very encouraging; it's my understanding that these reservations are refundable. So now I'm wondering if it's possible to find better rated accommodations for the same or lower price. Unfortunately bidding is off the table in this circumstance, so this would have to be either something from Hotwire or a Priceline express deal. Looking at the upper east side areas, there doesn't appear to be anything that would be cheaper on priceline. I do see on Hotwire what appears to be the Lucerne at 256/night but after taxes the total comes out to a bit over 1900. Since we're probably going to be taking the subway to the campus, staying within the upper west side isn't a necessity, but anything past midtown would probably be too long of a commute.
8. Well, I figured it couldn't hurt to try and bid on a hotel with the same star rating and up to the same price point as the express deal. Definitely used the board's PRICELINE link to book as well. Ended up with the Waldorf Astoria New York at $160/night which I'm pretty happy with. Lots of history in the hotel. I hope it lives up to the hype.
9. Thanks for the advice! I agree that since it's just me, there's no need to spend that much more for just luxury. There's a few more express deals I'd like help in trying to ID: 4* Midtown East $136/night Pets Allowed, Restaurant, Fitness Center, Business Center 4* Times Square - Theatre District $171/night Restaurant, Fitness Center, Business Center 4.5* Midtown East $168/night Pets Allowed, Restaurant, Fitness Center, Business Center, Bed Choice available.
10. So I'm currently trying to decide whether or not to take one of the express deals or to try and bid for something instead for this weekend. My budget is pretty flexible and I only need a room for 1 so I'm not too worried about the size of the room. That being said I would like to see a show or two while I'm in the city so a cheaper rate would be nice. I'm looking at the express deals right now and the one that jumps out at me is: 4 stars in Central Park South at $146/night with restaurant (I'm guessing that's the 6 Columbus?) Is it worth trying to bid for something else or are these about as good as it's going to get at this point in time? As a side note, I also did a search on hotwire and they had a 5 star at $247/night in midtown. Is it worth considering a listing with a higher price point like that, I'm wondering if the increased cost is accompanied by a similar increase in quality.
