  1. I don't know about the exact rates, but if you're going to bid for a hotel, you probably should split the few days in the beginning of the month from the rest of your stay since the Canada Day long weekend is probably a bit more expensive.

P.S. I can't recall the date, but I think The Ex might start at the end of July. You might want to split that part too.

  2. Quebec City, QC from July 2, 2006 to July 4, 2006.

Quebec was the only zone with 4* and 3* hotels, so I had a bid more flexibility.

    1st Bid: Quebec 4* $40 REJECTED

    2nd Bid: Quebec + Beauport 4* $46 REJECTED

3rd Bid: Quebec, Beauport + Sainte Foy 4* $53 REJECTED

    4th Bid: Quebec 3* $40 REJECTED

    5th Bid: Quebec + Beauport 3* $46 REJECTED

6th Bid: Quebec, Beauport + Sainte Foy 3* $52 ACCEPTED

WON: Delta Quebec Hotel, 690 BI Rene Levesque East

Phew! Bids in this area seemed to be generally higher, so I was a bit worried there.

  3. First of all, I apologize in advance for any formatting errors in the post.

    Anyways:

Ottawa, ON from June 30, 2006 to July 2, 2006 (Canada Day weekend :) )

    1st Bid: Ottawa 4* $30 REJECTED

    2nd Bid: Ottawa + Hull 4* $39 REJECTED

    3rd Bid: Ottawa + Hull 3* $39 REJECTED

4th Bid: Ottawa + Hull 2.5* $45 ACCEPTED (This one was kind of risky, but after reading a few bids in the same price range on the same dates, I figured I'll probably get a 3*, maybe even the Marriott that everyone else seemed to be getting. Besides, I'm still in a "good" area.)

Won: Ottawa Marriott, 100 Kent Street.

P.S. OT: Why are all the streets in downtown Ottawa one-way?
