  1. Hi guys, mailed the hotel, they offered $89 for 2. Hotel@MIT offered $99 per night. Kind regards, JSB
  2. Oops. That rate is for single use only. And my wife will be visiting me. JSB
  3. Dear AaronJB, I tried to get the price you quoted for the Omni Parker House from Orbitz, but did not succeed. Could you help me ? Kind regards, JSB
  4. Thanks very much, Thereuare and AaronJB. I'm indeed willing to accept a hotel anywhere in the zone. There's a good underground connection between Boston center and Cambridge, so the Omni Parker House might indeed be a good idea. As for the Hyatt, I remember having read that the hotel is somewhat far from a metro stop. But it's a great price, indeed, so I'll look into it again. Let me just add that www.betterbidding.com definitely is what the internet is about. It's a great tool, connecting great people. Kind regards, JSB
  5. Thanks for responding. I would indeed accept more hotels, but these are closest to MIT, as I could identify them on your great map application. Three or four stars are what I would be looking for. Among your 'recent wins' lists I saw that these hotels sometimes go for $60 to $80. Since I will be travelling in January, when prices are low, I was somewhat hoping that this would work, especially for a long term stay. Then, in your hotel lists, and reading other posts, I saw that the Hotel@MIT is the only 4-star in the neighbourhood. That's where I would start, then. What do you think ? Kind regards, JSB
  6. Thank you, Thereuare. Great to hear from you. Splitting is an option, yet not really desirable, since I will be working on a book (with a lot of documentation). Budget for the entire hotel stay is $1200 (including taxes). Since I would like to stay for 15 nights, I presume that a price of $75 plus taxes is what I'm looking for. With regard to contacting the hotels directly, I was only wondering if hotels would be interested in lowering their prices for long term stays. Let me commend you again on a wonderful site. Kind regards, JSB Brussels
  7. Hello dear BetterBidding community, I am looking for a stay of some 15 nights between January 2 and January 19, 2007 in Cambridge for my work at MIT and I see three possible hotels: the Hotel @ MIT, the Cambridge Marriott and its sister hotel, the Residence Inn (for longer stays). Do you have any tips for me regarding Hotwire & Priceline ? I presume I can use Priceline, even though I am neither American or Canadian, with my Amex card ... Would it be a good idea to contact the hotels directly, referring to recent Hotwire & Priceline wins ? Kind regards, JSB Brussels
  8. Dear Thereuare, I just came back from Milan. The hotel was even worse than I thought it would be. It was situated in a terrible (and clearly dangerous) neighbourhood and breakfast was simply awful. Airconditioning was somewhat lacking and the lobby area was a mess. Of course, I only payed about 55 euros a night, but then I do believe the people behind Hotwire should live up to their promises when they rank a hotel with a three-and-a-half star and compare it to the Hilton brand. In fact, Hotwire should have ranked this hotel as a two star hotel, and then I would not have selected it. To be frank, the hotel staff was quite nice and the room was reasonably clean, but never would I consider this Best Western more than a two star hotel. And yet the hotel gives itself four stars. Moreover, the Hotwire price can be easily found when you book this hotel directly, so I don't see the advantage of using Hotwire in such a case. If Hotwire promises people that they can get Hilton quality at low prices, then they should live up to such promise. Otherwise it's a hoax. Luckily, I switched to the Grand Hotel Verdi, a true four star hotel, which I booked through Yeego. I only payed 80 euros a night (in a buy-two-get-one-free-deal) and was simply delighted. Best regards, JSB
  9. Dear Thereuare, I booked the 3,5 stars via Hotwire for July 23rd until 25th (two nights) at a total price of $136.73 and then was informed that the hotel was a Best Western Blaise & Francis (also called Milton Milano). Checking Tripadvisor, the hotel itself doesn't seem to be that bad, but the neighbourhood is. Moreover, the hotel can be booked for the same price or lower via almost any other website. So I sent the following e-mail to Hotwire: "Dear people at Hotwire, this cannot be serious. The hotel can be booked through almost any other site at about the same price or lower. So the only difference is, that with Hotwire you do not even know in advance which hotel you get. I am really dissapointed. Kind regards" Indeed, JSB
  10. Thank you, thereuare. I understand. Again, allow me to commend you on a really outstanding site. Great work ! Best regards, JSB
  11. Thanks, thereuare. The 3,5 stars hotel only indicates complimentary breakfast. The 4 stars hotel indicates: restaurant, internet, fitness, business center and laundry facilities. Does this information help you to narrow the search ? Kind regards, JSB
  12. Hello everybody. Does anyone know which hotels the 3,5 and 4 stars in Hotwire for Milan (dates July 25 until 28) might be ? Thanks for responding ! JSB P.s.: great site, by the way
