  1. I have a conference in Chicago at the Marriott Mag Mile but I am trying to find a cheaper hotel.

Hotwire currently has a 3.5 Star for the dates I need (Nov. 14-18) in the River North/Water Tower Area.

    It has the following ammenities:

    Smoke-free Rooms

    Fitness Center

    Pool

    Restaurant

    Business Center

    High-Speed Internet

    Tennis Nearby

Accessible for the Blind, Deaf, Path of Travel

    In-Room Accessibility

    Accessible Parking

    Roll-In Shower

Any guesses what this might be? I would prefer to be in River North but for $95/night, this seems to be hard to beat.

    Cheers,

  2. Do you also see a Business amenity listed with the Georgetown property? If so, then my best guess would be the Holiday Inn.

PRICELINE is usually a little cheaper than HOTWIRE, but if you decide to use PRICELINE there would be no way to try and target the Holiday Inn, you'll need to be willing to accept a hotel anywhere in the zone.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Let us know what you decide and/or how it goes and we'll take it from there.

I went up to $110 in the Foggy Bottom area, using rebids, with no luck.

In the meantime, the price for the whole 3-night stay dropped on Hotwire to $113, so I took it. Sure, enough, it was the Holiday Inn. Rooms are going for about $160/night and the hotel is close to Dumbarton Oaks and offers a shuttle, so I am pleased.

I used the HOTWIRE link on this site and will post my win on the Hotwire list.

Thanks again for all your help!

  3. No business center listed on HOTWIRE.

Using my bonus cash and the PRICELINE link on this site, I tried doing just Friday and Saturday at $85 ($90) and $90 ($95). Unfortunately, this promotion has now expired.

It doesn't have to be the Holiday Inn- anything in Georgetown Foggy Bottom is fine. I usually don't like Hotwire because I have much better deals with Priceline. So any additional help would be great!

  4. Thanks for the info about the PRICELINE bonus.

The Hotwire hotel is in Georgetown/Foggy Bottom- 3* with Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Laundry, and Hi-Speed Internet. This is only for the Friday, Saturday. Do you think this might be the Holiday Inn? That would be ideal, as it is closest to Dumbarton Oaks and has a shuttle.

Do you think I might be successful with a lower bid for those 2 days if I bid on Priceline? I don't mind changing hotels if I have to.

    Cheers!

  5. I need to be in DC for a conference at Dumbarton Oaks from April 26-April 29.

I won't have a car, so I'm looking at Foggy Bottom as my first choice and perhaps Dupont Circle as a back-up. I don't know DC very well, so other suggestions are welcome.

Checking regular hotel sites, it seems like Thursday is more expensive than the weekend, so I would be willing to split my bids.

I'm a grad student, so I'm trying to keep this as cheap as possible, hopefully no higher than $100/night?

Any advice on bidding strategies would be greatly welcomed.

  6. No, I'm not.

I think I might have to roll the dice with with the 2 1/2* in Jefferson Town West with Fitness Center, Pool(s), Laundry Facilities, and High Speed Internet. The $35 price tag (on sale) is tempting even though I am afraid of a some of the hotel reviews for this level of hotel.

I did- it's the Ramada Plaza. I have posted a new thread announcing my win.

    Thanks for all your help!

  7. I'm not currently seeing any hotels offered in this zone when searching HOTWIRE for your dates... are you still seeing this on your own HOTWIRE search?

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

  8. What do you want to do in Louisville?

Every time I have bid on a 2 1/2 star in downtown, it has either been the Springhill Suites (usual) or the Fairfield Inn. Lovely, joined hotels with free breakfast, pool, exercise room, wi-fi, business center.

It is easy to walk from here to restaurants, the museums, 4th street, etc.

Parking is $9/day but if you bid between $40 and $46 you will usually get a room, unless there is a convention in town.

  9. I will be in Louisville from Nov. 10-13. There are events happening at both the convention center downtown and at the fairgrounds so there aren't many rooms available.

Hotwire has a 3* available for $77 with the following amenities:

    Complimentary breakfast

    Fitness Center

    Pool(s)

    Business Center

    Laundry

    High Speed Internet

    Golf Nearby

Any ideas on what this might be? The complimentary breakfast is throwing me off, because that means it isn't the Holiday Inn.

  10. I needed a hotel for an upcomming trip to Louisville (27/08/11-04/09/11) but was having trouble with the first weekend (still am) as both the Kentucky State fair is on and the Ironman.

So, I bid for the Monday to the Saturday. I usually get this hotel for $41 a night but this didn't work. I rebid the next day and got it for $45.

It's an excellent hotel, close to good restaurants, with a small pool and exercise room (shared with the connected Fairfield Suites) and a large breakfast room with a good selection of hot and cold items.

The rooms have a funky mod/European style with a split bathroom-double shower and sink on one side and a small sink and toilet on the other. A desk separates the "bedroom" from the "living room" and rooms have a microwave and a bar fridge.

I'm really pleased- now if I could only find something for the 27th and 28th!

    Cheers,

3.5-star hotel in San Juan $112

This hotel features the following amenities:

    Casino

    Fitness Center

    Pool(s)

    Restaurant(s)

    Business Center

    High-speed Internet Access

'We are still gathering reviews for this property'

    Any ideas what this is.

We are just looking for a nice hotel with a pool to spend the day post cruise (not staying overnight).

    Thanks

Using the HOTWIRE link on this site, we just booked the above mentioned hotel for $92/night (January 12-14). It is indeed the Sheraton Old San Juan. Very close to the port you will use (Old San Juan dock) but not known for its pool.
