  1. Oops- I posted this in the Priceline Forum instead of the Hotwire Forum.
  2. I have a conference in Chicago at the Marriott Mag Mile but I am trying to find a cheaper hotel. Hotwire currently has a 3.5 Star for the dates I need (Nov. 14-18) in the River North/Water Tower Area. It has the following ammenities: Smoke-free Rooms Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center High-Speed Internet Tennis Nearby Accessible for the Blind, Deaf, Path of Travel In-Room Accessibility Accessible Parking Roll-In Shower Any guesses what this might be? I would prefer to be in River North but for $95/night, this seems to be hard to beat. Cheers,
  3. 3* Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry, High-Speed Internet 3 nights: $113 x 3 +57.11 taxes and fees =$396.11 Posted rate was $160 + taxes and the hotel offers a shuttle to my conference site, so I am pleased. I used the HOTWIRE link on Better Bidding to make my purchase.
  4. I went up to $110 in the Foggy Bottom area, using rebids, with no luck. In the meantime, the price for the whole 3-night stay dropped on Hotwire to $113, so I took it. Sure, enough, it was the Holiday Inn. Rooms are going for about $160/night and the hotel is close to Dumbarton Oaks and offers a shuttle, so I am pleased. I used the HOTWIRE link on this site and will post my win on the Hotwire list. Thanks again for all your help!
  5. No business center listed on HOTWIRE. Using my bonus cash and the PRICELINE link on this site, I tried doing just Friday and Saturday at $85 ($90) and $90 ($95). Unfortunately, this promotion has now expired. It doesn't have to be the Holiday Inn- anything in Georgetown Foggy Bottom is fine. I usually don't like Hotwire because I have much better deals with Priceline. So any additional help would be great!
  6. Thanks for the info about the PRICELINE bonus. The Hotwire hotel is in Georgetown/Foggy Bottom- 3* with Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Laundry, and Hi-Speed Internet. This is only for the Friday, Saturday. Do you think this might be the Holiday Inn? That would be ideal, as it is closest to Dumbarton Oaks and has a shuttle. Do you think I might be successful with a lower bid for those 2 days if I bid on Priceline? I don't mind changing hotels if I have to. Cheers!
  7. O.k., $100 rejected for Foggy Bottom and re-bid. I did do it for the whole trip (April 26-29). I do see that Hotwire has a 3* for the 27-29 for $107. Also, I received an email tonight from PRICELINE for $5 to be added to my bid. Can I use that through this site? Suggestions on how to proceed? Thanks again for your help!
  8. Of course, I would prefer to stay in a 4-star but anything 3 and up is fine. Ideally spending as little money as possible is the goal, though if it is not significantly more, I would prefer to stay in a higher rated hotel.
  9. I need to be in DC for a conference at Dumbarton Oaks from April 26-April 29. I won't have a car, so I'm looking at Foggy Bottom as my first choice and perhaps Dupont Circle as a back-up. I don't know DC very well, so other suggestions are welcome. Checking regular hotel sites, it seems like Thursday is more expensive than the weekend, so I would be willing to split my bids. I'm a grad student, so I'm trying to keep this as cheap as possible, hopefully no higher than $100/night? Any advice on bidding strategies would be greatly welcomed.
  10. I did- it's the Ramada Plaza. I have posted a new thread announcing my win. Thanks for all your help!
  11. Amenities listed: Fitness Center Pool(s) Laundry (Self-Serve) Hi Speed Internet Not thrilled with the result but since the pickings are incredibly slim for this weekend, I will take it! I used the HOTWIRE link on this site. Thanks again for all your help!
  12. No, I'm not. I think I might have to roll the dice with with the 2 1/2* in Jefferson Town West with Fitness Center, Pool(s), Laundry Facilities, and High Speed Internet. The $35 price tag (on sale) is tempting even though I am afraid of a some of the hotel reviews for this level of hotel.
  13. What do you want to do in Louisville? Every time I have bid on a 2 1/2 star in downtown, it has either been the Springhill Suites (usual) or the Fairfield Inn. Lovely, joined hotels with free breakfast, pool, exercise room, wi-fi, business center. It is easy to walk from here to restaurants, the museums, 4th street, etc. Parking is $9/day but if you bid between $40 and $46 you will usually get a room, unless there is a convention in town.
  14. Thanks! When I went back, that option was gone but there is a new listing which also doesn't seem to have been reported: $78, 3* (Louisville Northeast) Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Fitness Center, High Speed Internet Access Any ideas?
  15. I will be in Louisville from Nov. 10-13. There are events happening at both the convention center downtown and at the fairgrounds so there aren't many rooms available. Hotwire has a 3* available for $77 with the following amenities: Complimentary breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry High Speed Internet Golf Nearby Any ideas on what this might be? The complimentary breakfast is throwing me off, because that means it isn't the Holiday Inn.
  16. Bid $45 on a 3* in Perrysburg-Northwood. Bid was rejected and a counter-offer of $53 was suggested. I ignored this and added the Oregon-Perrysburg East-Millbury area and upped my bid to $46, which was accepted. I used the BB PRICELINE link for my winning bid.
  17. Thanks. I had responded to the Chicago thread but have done so again. I will make sure to list wins and and use the links in the future. Since it is probably the Fern Valley, I just went and booked directly with the Holiday Inn. I couldn't take the chance of being that far out. Thanks for your help!
  18. Thanks for the info. As mentioned above, I ended up getting a hotel through air mile points and not through Hotwire/Priceline.
  19. 27/08/11-29/08/11 2.5* $56- Shuttle, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Laundry I'm guessing it's the Fern Valley but I was wondering if it could be anything else (I don't want to stay at Fern Valley because I won't have a car) Cheers,
  20. I needed a hotel for an upcomming trip to Louisville (27/08/11-04/09/11) but was having trouble with the first weekend (still am) as both the Kentucky State fair is on and the Ironman. So, I bid for the Monday to the Saturday. I usually get this hotel for $41 a night but this didn't work. I rebid the next day and got it for $45. It's an excellent hotel, close to good restaurants, with a small pool and exercise room (shared with the connected Fairfield Suites) and a large breakfast room with a good selection of hot and cold items. The rooms have a funky mod/European style with a split bathroom-double shower and sink on one side and a small sink and toilet on the other. A desk separates the "bedroom" from the "living room" and rooms have a microwave and a bar fridge. I'm really pleased- now if I could only find something for the 27th and 28th! Cheers,
  21. Using the HOTWIRE link on this site, we just booked the above mentioned hotel for $92/night (January 12-14). It is indeed the Sheraton Old San Juan. Very close to the port you will use (Old San Juan dock) but not known for its pool.
  22. We just won on Hotwire the Sheraton Old San Juan for $92/night for January 12-14. It was listed as a 3.5* so I think you have the same one.
  23. Sorry- I didn't have much to report because I didn't end up using Hotwire- I used credit card points for a free stay. Unfortunately, I do not have that option for this trip and I am afraid to use Priceline since I could end up pretty far away from the Hyatt. Any information will be appreciated!
