Initially bid £47 for a 5* in this district. Rejected. The site offered to let me bid again if I added another £11. With taxes and fees the total charge was £74. I was then given St. George Residence All Suite Hotel. Listed Top Amenities include: Free WiFi Pets allowed Restaurant The hotel looks fine, but this is the exact rate I could've gotten by booking directly. So "naming my own price" got me no benefit at all. I complained about this on their online chat but go the usual BS response. Feel very put out by Priceline.

Was looking for a weekend room in Cologne for the weekend as meeting friends who are booked into the Marriot. Hotwire offered the following for £87 (approx. USD 140) for a two night stay: Free Internet Pet friendly Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access With the message "LAST PERSON GOT THE TRYP WYNDHAM". "Ah perfect" I thought. Just 20 meters around the corner from the Marriott. But Hotwire baited and switched me to the Mercure Hotel Severinshof Koeln City. Mind you I got a good rate, but I would not have taken it without that bait. I know the deal, and it was always a gamble. However, I do feel burned by Hotwire (not for the first time).
