  1. Update that I'm pleased about. I contacted Hilton Midtown and was informed that since I booked before the change was made with HOTWIRE, they will not charge the fee. I retract my Buyer Beware warning! :)
  2. Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access Bed choice : Two Doubles There was no mention of a resort fee when I booked, however I've since learned that this hotel does have a the following $25 Daily Mandatory Charge (will be added to the room rate and includes: Urban Destination Charge with premium guest internet access (3 devices); $15 beverage credit in Lobby Lounge or Bridges Bar; $10 food credit in Herb N' Kitchen (grab and go only); local and toll-free calls.) Buyer beware! I contacted Hotwire and they basically said the hotel can charge this whether Hotwire lists it or not.
  3. Here's the reply I received from Hotwire: Hotels may charge a resort fee whether or not the Resort amenity is listed. We provide as much information as possible and sometimes list an estimated resort fee before booking, however a resort fee may be charged to any hotel guest whether they booked with Hotwire or any other site. This fee must settle directly to the hotel (usually when you check out). I quickly replied and voiced my displeasure and it certainly changes my thoughts on booking these Hotwire Hot Rate deals for NYC especially. There's absolutely no mention on my purchase or in the original offer of a resort fee. This particular one is $25/night but I've seen some in the $50/night range. That's a scary thought that you may be paying a LOT more than you think.
  4. I know this is an older post but I wanted to share my experience. I was recently checking prices for an upcoming trip to NYC and found a decent price on another travel site for NY Hilton Midtown. I was almost ready to book when I saw an additional resort fee mentioned so I went back to Hotwire and booked a Hot Rate Hotel deal that I thought might be the Sheraton. I was very careful to check all fees mentioned an there was no resort fee in the details. I ended up getting the NY Hilton Midtown. Now, I'm reading on Hilton's website and other travel sites that this hotel does indeed charge what they call a mandatory fee of $25/night. That fee does give you a credit of $15 in the lounge/bar and $10 in the Herb n Kitchen for grab n go food. I've emailed Hotwire to see what if anything I can do since this fee was not mentioned in my booking but I do not expect much assistance. I'll keep you all updated.
  5. I'm looking to book a hotel in NYC for mid January and I'm trying to use the current coupon code. When I click activate coupon, it takes me to Hotwire but I never see the discount. Anyone else having issues?
  6. Yes, this is correct! We were able to book a room with choice of bed and we chose two standard (full) beds. Thanks for your reply and advice. I'll certainly let you know what we do.
  7. Yes it is. I may have misunderstood the quote on Hotwire's Help section. Now, I'm trying to decide if I should wait until we arrive and ask if there's an extra guest fee that we can pay or just book another room.
  8. When we booked in June through Hotwire, it was for only two people. Bed Choice of two beds was guaranteed and the room occupancy maximum is 4. Since booking, my niece has decided to join our trip. When I looked on their help site, it said that you can add a guest but not change the guest name, which is exactly what I need to do. However, when I emailed Hotwire, I got a canned response saying that reservations couldn't be changed. Thoughts or suggestions?

  10. 4-star Hotel in Times Square North area $159 / night 1 Room, 2 Adults, 0 Children 2 double beds Your room type is guaranteed. Sat, Oct 28 - Wed, Nov 01 Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Spa services, Children's activities My best guess on this based on the hotel list is Sheraton New York Times Square. Any thoughts and does that seem like a great deal?
  11. I wanted to give an update on the stay. My son said that they obviously don't care much for Priceline/Hotwire guests because they were very unhelpful with any requests. Two big guys and they wouldn't budge on giving them a double room (I warned him this might happen) but also they couldn't even get a cot because the clerk said the room they were getting was too small for a cot and even if they had gotten a cot it would have cost them an add'l $35/night. He was able to get some extra blankets after several requests and they took turns sleeping on the floor.
  12. Updating to say we booked this deal through HOTWIRE last night and it was indeed the W Chicago City Center. I'm not sure why he wanted to stay there but I showed him the city map and went over it with him in detail and this was what they wanted. Now, hopefully they'll get double beds!
  13. I'm seeing this on HOTWIRE and I'm trying to figure out which Hotel it might be. My best guess was W Chicago City Center but not sure. Any thoughts? $132 for 8/12 & 8/13 Chicago Loop Theater District. FULL AMENITIES: Pet friendly, Boutique hotel, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Spa services
  14. It's been a while since I've used PRICELINE and I'm helping my son (30somethings) and his friend book a hotel for his bday and the friend's bachelor party weekend. He's not really concerned with amenities but wants to be as close to walking distance of Union Station as possible. He would like to stay between $100-$150 and I wonder if it's possible to get a 3-4 star in that range for those dates?
