  1. Started with $38 a night, and got it on first attempt :-) Booked 2 rooms for a night. Its just a night stay on our way to Smoky Mountains. Thanks to this board for help finding the right place/right price. I did use the PRICELINE link.
  2. I stayed in this hotel on may 23th 2007 just for the night. My winning bid was for $50. Cannot comment on the amenities as I did not use any but I echo the feelings of the other reviewer. This property does not deserve a 3* rating. The rooms are old, the bathrooms are small. In all I would give it max 2.5* rating.
  3. Started my priceline bid at savingsbarn.com bid for 2.5* in Sunnyvale-Santa Clara at $36. Was hoping to get the Country Inn And Suites as others have reported at this star level and price point. Got counter offer to increase by $10. As I was bit flexible with the zone, I added Milpitas and bid $38 and it was accepted with upgrade to 3* Beverly Heritage Hotel 3-star Milpitas 1820 Barber Lane Milpitas, California 95035 408-943-9080 Check-In Date: Mon, May 28, 2007 / After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Tue, May 29, 2007 / 12:00 PM Amenities: Remote control TV w/ premium channels Radio Alarm Clock Business services Telephone w/ voicemail Iron and ironing board Hairdryer 24 hour front desk Restaurant Room service Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $38.00 Subtotal: $38.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.60 Total Charges*: $49.60
  4. Started the bidding from savingsbarn.com First bid was $46 and got counter offer for $13 more. I persisted and got it at $50. Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $50.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $13.47 Total Charges*: $63.47 A bit concerned by one bad review of the property here but seems ok after DenverLogan's comments about the property. Edit: I had the date and price in the topic but it seems to have been cut off. Also no way to add it in description of the topic now. Anyhow the date is 5/23/07 and price was $50
  5. Thanks for your input and insight anngie. :)
  6. Hi torontofan, Seems like we are going to be there same time. :) Have a nice trip.
  7. this is in addition to my Florida stay. 3 days in key largo and 2 days in Orlando. :) I might still bid for a resort in key largo area and will update the thread accordingly as hotel booking in ramada is just a backup used savingsbarn.com to start my priceline bid for this property. :)
  8. Started bidding at 90 and then 95, 96, 97 and got it at 98.
  9. I ended up booking directly in ramada inn in key largo for 500 ( 3 nights). I got 5% off using AMEX. The details are on their website under special discounts.
  10. Update from my side. i tried with the suggested strategy and even went up to 145 with 2.5* added in islamorada. No Ball. Will try again soon. Other option is to book 2.5 * ( hopefully ramada) through HOTWIRE ($141) or reserve dayyinn directly in islamorada which is almost at the same price
  11. No i did not. I am looking into reviews of hotels in both key largo and Islamorada which have been won on priceline. that's why i asked the question as i can bid on hotels in Islamorada and use key largo as rebid zone.
  12. does anyone have any idea about the hotel names in Islamorada which have 2 and 2.5 stars through priceline?
  13. Thanks for your input thereuare. So i have decided to focus my search in key largo as its in between key west and miami areas. As far as i can see, their is just one rebid zone of Islamorada which has 2 and 2.5 stars and key largo just has 1 star and resorts. I did not see any hotels listed in Islamorada in the pricline list and only 3 listed in key largo ( shearton resort i think has been renamed/bought). With this info in hand, what would u reccomend? the dates are 25th to 28th december ( all are weekdays). I am getting 3.5 star in hotwire for 212. I would like to get something in range of 125. Thanks again for your input.
  14. The reason I did not follow up on that thread was that I ended up not booking anything from priceline. Sorry for that. :)
  15. I ended up not booking the hotel and stayed with a friend of a friend to save some bucks :). That was the reason I did not update the thread. Sorry :)
  16. Hi, I have gone through almost 7 pages in both priceline and hotwire forums and did see just 1 bid about the key west and key largo area. just wanted to know the reason for it? Is it not a popular place to stay or the offerings from hotwire and priceline do not match up? I am planning a trip in December to the area and just wanted an idea. Thanks to anyone who replies. i know it's a bit off topic. feel free to move it to appropriate section if needed.
  17. i went up till 75 and 2.5 stars but no ball. Thanks gatineau man for the input but due to visa issues i cannot stay in US side. I will try again after 24 hours and will go up till 90 for 2.5 stars. Lets see if that works. othwise i may take your advice and try for welland. Thanks.
  18. Yeah. i think I got a good deal. maybe cause i am staying sunday and monday night :) I started the bidding at 50 and incremented it (50,55,60,62) after adding more zones till i got it at 64. As toronoto has lot of zones and only downtown has 4*, it was easy. thanks again.
  19. What is your conservative price for getting a 3* for this date?
  20. Hi, I would be greatful if someone could tell me some strategies to bid for hotel in Niagara Falls, Canada for 29th july 2006. My max budget is 60 and any 3* and above would do. Thanks, Yoda
