  1. My heavens, does Priceline hire the most incompetent developing world support staff that they can find?  I've had the most frustrating day trying to get them:

    1. To understand that there's a problem.
    2. That what's broken needs to be fixed.
    3. That my business will go elsewhere if I can't login and use the Name Your Own Price interface.

All they reply with are unresponsive canned responses that suggest that a bot is assisting them and when the bot isn't doing the job of replying, then a human is and quite often s/he is uniquely incapable of comprehending, well, just about anything.  Terrible customer service.   Simply awful.

And unless I've failed to follow a step or two, thereuare, there seems to be no difference doing what you suggest.  It's all still a black hole of digital dysfunction!

  4. Boss got himself a hotel room for Tuesday, May 23, 2006, so I tried bidding for Wednesday, May 24 - Saturday, May 27, 2006.

A bid in Bloomsbury at $100 USD was rejected, but I got another counter-offer at $172 USD, plus VAT, per room, per night. Boss asked me to reject and bid close to that if necessary. Went to $166 USD, but didn't get a bite.

Hrmmmm...that's kinda rich. At that price, I'd be miffed if my boss and his colleague ended up at the Thistle Marble Arch (which normally goes for $70-$100 USD, plus VAT, per room, per night, right about now).

    7. Sample rates for available four-star hotels in the areas I desire:

    The Selfridge: $385.70

    Hilton Metropole: $330.60

    Millennium Gloucester: $405.00

    8. Source of the above-noted rates:

Websites for the hotel chains themselves.

    9. Free re-bid zones:

As there would seem to be four star hotels in every zone in London, there aren't any true "free re-bidding zones".

    10. Maximum amout willing to bid:

    $150

    Bidding history to date:

Twice, I have bidded $100 for a 4* including the Notting Hill and Kensington zones in my bid. Twice, I was unsuccessful.

Twice, I started a new bid for a 4* in the Bloomsbury zone and bid $100. Once, I added the Notting Hill and Kensington zones and bid $115. The first time, when I bid at $115 on a re-bid, I received a counter-offer of $209. The second time, when I bid $100 in Bloomsbury only, I also received a counter-offer of $209. I guess that there's a hotel in Bloomsbury that has space, but at $209, I have to hope that it is a five-star and that my bid is being upgraded. As I thought the counter-offer was too rich, I rejected it.

On both of these pervious attempts, I then started new bids for a 4* in the Mayfair zone and bid $120, which was rejected. Then, I added the other three acceptable zones and bid $130, etc.

Long story short, I bid up to $162 and got nowhere. Inventory is tight. Any suggestions? My lockout is to expire momentarily.

  6. Like many others here, I was banned for reasons that I cannot figure out. While Sheryl has some very valuable information to offer, banning people for absolutely no reason whatsoever is crazy.

Odd, but whatever. I don't think that I ran afoul of rules other than ones she makes up on the fly. When I tried to send an e-mail message to her inbox about being banned, I was informed that she is "ignoring me". I had heard that this woman was mercurial and occasionally childish, and now I have had the privilege of viewing the same upclose and personal.

Anyway, I hope that people here can offer some good insight into Priceline bidding!

    Cheers, etc.
