  1. I haven't had any problems with priceline's reservations but, just in case, I always take with me a print-out of the hotel's confirmation (not pricelines's) of the reservation. How to get it: Note that there are two numbers in a winning Priceline (PL) bid: 1) PL's identifier of the bid, called the `Request No.' 2) A confirmation number given under the `Reservation Information' in a winning bid. This one points to a record on the hotel's reservation system. With the confirmation number, you can go to the hotel's website an pull up your reservation, which will show that it has been pre-paid. 2pi.
  2. Didn't work for me. Got blue status.
  3. Great! :). Thanks for the info. I didn't know Embassy Suites hotels had these. I became a little bit suspicious about high-level hotels. Many times you can get the room at a low rate, but they charge you extra for everything. It seems that this hotel chain is an exception. I wasn't very happy with the original hotel (Doubletree Miami Airport). It seemed to be a very old property. But with this 'upgrade' it became a really good offer.
  4. I just got an email from Priceline saying that my reservation was moved to another hotel because the Doubletree closed. New hotel: Embassy Suites Miami Airport 3974 NW S River Road Miami, FL 33142 (305)634-5000 The minimum advertised rate on the web for this hotel is $120. So its seems that even with the extra $6 for parking, I got a better deal. 2pi. PS: The total with taxes for two days was $81.46.
  5. The hotel is very well located, one block away from Peachtree Street, two from the Westin, and three from the Mart. The arquitecture of the building is impressive :) (although I do not recommend it if you're afraid of hights :) ). I paid $41 per day (about $141 for three days + taxes) through PL. The rooms on the side of the front desk have a better view, and if you get a a room towards the opposite side of the entrance, you might be able to not close the curtains and sleep and ... with an spectacular view of the city at night (The ones on the side of the entrance have an office tower nearby that removes a little bit of privacy). Valet parking on site is available for $20 per day (allows for ins and outs during the day). Cheaper rates are available nearby, $12 - $15 per day, but cannot remove the car. The room had a small refrigerator and a safe box that would store a laptop and a few other gadgets. No charge for these. Internet access is $9.95 per day, although I had an unsecured wireless hotspot close enough :o (probably from the office building). A Publix is within 10 minutes walking. The hotel is showing signs of age but at $41 plus $20 is still an excellent bargain considering the location and the architecture. Also, the room was very clean. Bye, 2pi.
  6. I usually check the car rental companies' websites from my home country (in South America) to get special promotional rates targeted to those markets. Most of the major companies have a presence there. Many times you can also get access to these codes by stating that your place of residence is somewhere else. They are usually for week rates and many times include insurance---e.g., Avis compact car in Florida including LDW, ~$135 per week. Without LDW, ~$95. 2pi.
  7. Got the same rate ($41) last week for Sat Oct 18 through Tue Oct 21. Great Web Site :) 2pi. -> Marriott Atlanta Marquis <-
