  1. 1st bid: Dorval 2-star $45, asked me if I wanted to add $15 2nd bid: +Pte-claire $48 3rd bid: +Laval $49 4th bid: + Longueuil $51 2 nights at $51 + taxes and fees: $128US, $121CAN for me. It's about a 40% deal. thanks!
  2. only about a 33% saving but I don't think I can do better. Days Inn and Super 8 are the only 1-star hotels there. No choice on HOTWIRE. $130 with taxes for 2 nights. free continental breakfast. used the PRICELINE link. thanks as always betterbidding, good reliable site.
  3. thanks, I have changed my plans and will not pursue this avenue. I will write a new post for my other city.
  4. I thought $60 was my maximum since you can get a room for $98 normal price. search for Drummondville (you get the 2 rebid zones for 2-star) I do use the PRICELINE link thanks again
  5. I am having a tough time finding a room with Priceline. MY dates are either may 21-23, May 22-24 or worst case May 23-25. I have tried for a 1-star for as high as $33 (Priceline median retail price $52) (but I don't think they have a 1-star hotel) and 2-star (with rebid zones st-helene-de-bagot and trois-rivieres ouest) as high as $60 (Priceline median retail price $110 or $194 for may 23-25!). The 2-star Comfort Inn or Quality Hotel in Sherbrooke have rooms available for the dates for about $100. please help me with a strategy. thanks
  6. for parking, I work in this area and you'd have to walk a little to save a few dollars a day so maybe worth it. if your stay was on a weekend, you could have saved a lot on parking.
  7. it is the city of Sherbrooke in Quebec, Canada
  8. when bidding for a 2-star in a region where there is no 1-star (unless it is a more than independent motel with 10 rooms!) , if the 1-star option is offered, should I presume that a 2-star like a Comfort Inn or Quality suites for example would be downgraded to a 1-star? Or there is just no 1-star and they are offering it anyway just to give us the illusion of an abondance of choices in that region? thanks
  9. I would like to know please the process used for getting your price. Thank you
  10. $51.45 with taxes started with $35, then added 2.5*, then $36, then airport zone which I did not mind, then added 2*, then added $38. I used the PRICELINE link. Thanks betterbidding!
  11. used the HOTWIRE link on betterbidding homepage amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) (was under renovation and closed) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access the 4* Sheraton has the same amenities +spa
  12. stayed in june 2006 one night. It is really clean, great location (off highway), almost new, super-fast check-in and check-out, free newspaper and coffee, comfortable beds, parking near room, restaurant on site (have not tried it), large working table in room, sofa-bed. No breakfast, no pool, noisy air system but can be turned off.
  13. would administrators of this site add the hotel on the Montreal map please for future users? Thanks
  14. 1st bid: $35 3-star rejected 2nd bid: $40 2-star + 3-star accepted Check-In Date: Tuesday, June 13, 2006 Check-Out Date: Wednesday, June 14, 2006 Taxes and Service Fees: $14.52 (US dollars) Total Charges: $54.52 (US), $61 CAN, better than the $132 CAN with fees and taxes on the hotel's website!
  15. who cares?! jump on the offer before it gets higher! unlikely you will get less. any 4-star is a good hotel in Niagara Falls.
  16. Is $100 realistic? NO WAY! you might get a one-star but not even that! You may want to consider the Welland or St. Catharines areas for less (about $85-90-95) and then park your car in Niagara Falls.
  17. the best deal for a Saturday in July is to sleep in Welland, only 15 minutes from the Falls, and it will cost less than $100. Or, find a hotel in Niagara Falls, New york, also for less than $100. You could go to the Falls in Canada and pay a minimal parking fee for the day. Without Priceline or Hotwire, conventional sites like Expedia will not give you a room (in a 3-star) for under $100 for your day unfortunately.
  18. by the way the prices were in canadian dollars for my hotel stay. I would say you need minimum $75 for your day for a 3-star. if you go up to $100 for a 4-star, it is still a great deal for a saturday in July.
  19. Hello! From recent experience (last long May weekend), there is no chance at all that you can get a room on a Saturday in July IN Niagara FAlls for $60 through Priceline. Maybe you can get a 2*. On the other hand, if you can go there on a Sunday instead, your chances are much higher. I do not know about a Friday. Just check the difference on prices for a Saturday and a sunday with Hotwire. It is considerable! I know it is extreme, but the hotel we finally chose charged us $144 for Saturday and $66 for Sunday (4 people though). Anyway, good luck searching.
  20. are you familiar with this website? What can you tell me about it? If we can trust it, you could add it to your links page. Thanks
  21. you always have clear answers. now I get only pool for amenities and $81 it is too bad your maps and hotel lists do not have 2* hotels for Niagara Falls-Ontario. Plus, there are many Days Inns and Howard Johnsons in the city, all have a pool, and many more 2* hotels, it is hard to figure out which one it is. If you have any idea, tell me and if not, thanks again.
  22. hello again! the $265 CAN is for 2 nights with tax. The Hotwire $80 offer would be for 2 nights, $208 CAN with tx. A decent enough difference to maybe take a chance. You have not answered this question: 'is it a problem when booking for 4 people on Hotwire?' and also: 'by the way, it would not be advised to bid on Priceline considering we are 4 people, right?' Thank you for your possible matches. Can I assume that the hotel would be part of a major chain? When they say 'restaurant, pool, fitness' for amenities, can I assume that it is possible that there is no fitness room and a cocktail bar can count as a restaurant? thanks again
  23. Hello experts of better bidding! First of all, is it a problem when booking for 4 people on Hotwire, or as long as you enter the 4 people in your search you're fine? Hotwire shows a room at $80 . It is for the Niagara Falls-Ontario section (area map A). amenities are the following: restaurant, pool, fitness I do not have other choices except a 1* @$66 and and I will not take a chance on it. They're not saying it is a saving of how much but it is at least a bit of a saving after doing a long research on the hotels in the area for those dates. so could you help me identify this hotel please? WE are interested in it because it is last-minute and would cancel a previous booking at $265CAN at a cheap hotel we are suspicious about! thanks in advance, bidding geniuses! by the way, it would not be advised to bid on Priceline considering we are 4 people, right?
  24. 1st bid $75 South Portland- rejected 2nd bid added Portland- Portland West and Saco $80- accepted I am aware some people got it for $60 but maybe because it is july you can not get it at $60
