  1. Booked hotel for my 'rents weekend away. This looks like a newly renovated hotel from the website, formerly Park Inn, not included on your list. Used SB Link provided. To clarify this hotel is 2.5*, not sure how to edit title Country Inn and Suites Williamsburg East Williamsburg Historic - Busch Gardens 7135 Pocahontas Trail Williamsburg, Virginia 23185 757-229-6900 Your Offer Price: $40.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $160.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $32.81 Total Charges*: $192.81 Parents will be happy with the continental breakfast. I told them no guarantee their hotel would have. They had a rate of $64 on website, only a savings of about $90, not my ideal bargain but my parents are pleased regardless and wanted the room booked. There were no rebids so I started at 40 based on 2.5star (I thought was Sheraton Four Points) on hotwire for 56.00. Maybe would have taken less based on rate. :)
  2. With public transportation eliminated, I started my own bidding process for a 4 star... DT 4 star. From checking hotwire this seemed to be the best area... DT-60 DT&Brentwood-63 *New Bid DT&Culver-66 DT, Brentwood&Culver-69 *New Bid DT, Redondo-72 DT, Redondo&Brentood-75-ACCEPTED Used SB to begin all bids Westin Bonaventure Hotel 404 S Figueroa St Los Angeles, California 90071 213-624-1000 Your Offer Price: $75.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $150.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $30.29 Total Charges*: $180.29 Cheapest rate 209 @ Westin website, 107 @ hotwire...
  3. I just rented a car for the trip...people were starting to scare me with public transportation at Tripadvisor....so now I just need safe area!
  4. I was uncharacteristically spontaneous and booked a flight to LA without thinking about what I would be doing or where I would be staying. :) In my defense, it was super cheap (160 RT from Baltimore incl. taxes) and I needed a vacation! My flight is a 12:30 a.m. Saturday so I only need two nights, 2/21-2/23 in hotel. Which area is the best location regarding public transportation and safety (I will be traveling alone)? I did get tickets to see a taping at Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank for Wednesday evening. Are the hotels nearby centrally located for everything else? I will not rent a car so I need to rely on public transportation for that and any other activities I tag on. Any suggestions for priceline areas? I would like my max bid to be 85/nt, obviously would love cheaper :) Prefer 3/4 star hotels. I am ready to start my bidding now
  5. I live just outside Baltimore, however my work is having our annual winter ball downtown. We can have fun, drink free alcohol and stay safe. :) The money is worth not driving 20 min home or worse. It was showing $75 on Hotwire, 92.95 cheapest on Wyndham site w/o tax/fees. Kinda bummed that the first bid was accepted, makes me think I could have gone lower but you never know. :) I will be happy with, some friends are paying "reduced" rate of 109.0 at Holiday Inn! Check-In Date: Sat, Feb 17, 2007 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Feb 18, 2007 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.10 Total Charges*: $58.10 Used the SB link provided.
  6. I was able to extend two nights, check out 1/10/07...I was for sure they were going to deny, rate is 219.00/nt...
  7. I had an emergency at my aparment and needed a hotel last minute... Started at $40 for 2*...saw 2* on Hotwire for Sunday checkin for $59/night Declined Added White Marsh Area (I had already bid $40 with no luck) $43 accepted and upgraded to 3*! Hotel is nice, King room, free wireless (how I am posting!)
  8. Won this hotel on Priceline 08/12-08/16 for $33/nt. The Good: -Clean rooms, comfy beds and linens (real comforter not the cheap itchy stuff!) -Bathroom immaculate and nice size -Free bottle of water replenished daily (great after driving 13 hrs and hauling the luggage in!) -Could not beat the value -Decent cable selection -Free high-speed internet (wireless only works in lobby and 1st, maybe second floor, cable provided for DSL all other floors, pretty long cable too) -Very convenient to main road, mall, restaurants, target just up 55. The Kinda Bad: -They only had a two double room available upon check-in. I knew they were sold out but kinda bummed being I am one person, don't need two beds. I was almost stuck in smoking but with some gentle pushing they found a Non-smoking -Hotel staff not very familiar with area- they actually got me lost going to the Scott AFB Metro station. I was meeting folks there and arrived late -Rooms are kinda small compared to other 2 double rooms I have stayed in, still comfortable but definitely no more than 4 people, 4 adults I would think would be cramped All in all a great stay. Definitely will stay here next time I visit family in area. Other family members are there as we speak at my recommendation!
  9. I posted a hotel review for this stay...hope I did so correctly. The stay was actually not that bad, very lucky!
  10. After reading reviews, I was bracing myself for horror upon check-in, maybe the preparation worked because it wasn't all that bad Staying over one night on my road trip from Baltimore-St. Louis area, priceline bid of $43. Arrived weary and hungry around 7 p.m. Friday 8/11/2006. All they had available was 2 doubles, being that I am one person, not my dream, but they said they were full (I confirmed from the overflowing conference room I passed, the several large groups gathered in the lobby and no availability when I checked the website). Do be aware there are several entrances, note where the lobby is, park your car, check-in, then move car to your location. Don't haul your stuff in like me and have to move car around the building! Room was adequate size, actually I found large for 2 double room. Upon inspection I found the bathroom and linens to be acceptable. Bed linens are typical "itchy" material, no real comforter but made do. When hotel staff called to see if room was okay I inquired about a refrigerator for my travel goodies, sent one right up free of charge. Maintenance man had some trouble finding a plug but he was very nice. Free local calls- ordered in Pizza (delivery guy pleasant as well, he liked my glasses!), watched decent cable selection and off to bed! This hotel is in need of some updating and renovation but I was lucky in room selection I suppose!
  11. I am attending an event Fri 11/24- Sat 11/25 and figured wasting gas and time commuting was pointless... Check-in: Friday, November 24, 2006 Check Out: Saturday, November 25, 2006 Holiday Inn Gaithersburg 2 Montgomery Village Ave Gaithersburg, Maryland 20879 Your Offer Price: $41.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $41.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $12.26 Total Charges: $53.26 Used SavingsBarn Link! I've stayed here twice before, okay by Holiday Inn standards, though I do not remember it being a three star! Before I paid regular price though! :) I tried my luck to see if I could extend and include thanksgiving night for same price, no luck. The offered $62/nt, no thanks! I don't really need the room but worth a try. Failed bids: Started for Thursday & Friday Night. 3 * then same for 2.5*: G/R-30.0 G/R & Camp Springs rebid-33.0 New bid G/R & Laurel rebid-36.0 G/R & Laurel & Camp Springs-39. Really didn't need Thursday, being the holiday and all, so I switched to Friday only, 2.5* I was hoping for Springhill Suites, what I thought was on hotwire.com for $53/nt G/R-33. G/R & Camp Springs rebid-36. New bid G/R & Laurel rebid-39. G/R & Laurel & Camp Springs-41. accepted and upgraded to 3*
  12. I won this same hotel with priceline for my trip starting this Saturday for $33/nt (which, glad I booked early, b/c they are sold out with an in-house conference!). My Aunt was looking for a hotel in same area for her visit, could not convince her to do priceline (she has kids traveling along)but would do Hotwire, hey it is her money and she still saved off 110/nt at Sheraton site and I am ever the wonderful niece. :) Fitness Center, Restaurant, High-speed Internet Access, Pool, Business Center 2 Rooms 5Nights $55.00 Rate per night: $550.00 Subtotal Tax recoveryAndFees:$60.69 Total:$610.69
  13. I saw a win for 9/10-9/12 3 star for Hotel Allegro $75, Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area. If you are willing to split your stay and take your chances...
  14. dailema- I agree, I think you did great. I was bidding for 08/16-08/19 a couple of days ago for 4 star (before I wound up with Allegro, 3 star, a "sister" to Burnham, kimpton hotel), when I bid $83 (my max) I was offered a free rebid of $22. You are within that range. I keep checking here and hotwire to make sure prices don't drop and I did not overbid but it looks like on Hotwire rates went up for my stay, I am pleased so far! See you in Chicago! :)
  15. $63-MP,L&GPA Received free rebid option $17 increase $70-MP,L&GPA+ Skokie free rebid-ACCEPTED! Hotel Allegro Chicago Your Offer Price: $70.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $210.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $41.23 Total Charges: $251.23 Used SB Link! I saw what I thought was Allegro on Hotwire $87/night for Thursday and Friday only, was not coming up with Saturday. I thought I would try my luck, as this is the only 3 star I would consider in the area and my max bid was $83 (with fees about 100/night), getting nowhere with 4*. It has mixed reviews but I think it is just my style and I will be close to "Wicked" for my evening show. $199/night at hotel website. My Baltimore-St.Louis-Chicago trip is fully planned now, thank you Better Bidding! :) Below is my extensive failed bidding: 4 * Bidding as follows: $61
  16. Started bidding south Cleveland area when Youngtown, Akron areas were coming up empty. Not exactly half way from Chicago to Baltimore but not far for interstate. Zones of choice Airport South and Elyria 2.5* or 2*. Bid for 2.5 star up to $37. No rebids with 2 stars. I am very happy with this hotel, reviews are good, place looks new and lowest price at site is 109.00. :) Looks like caters mainly to extended stay visitors, I am just a "sleep and drive". Towneplace Suites Cleveland Airport Cleveland Airport South (CLE) 7325 Engle Road Middleburg Heights, Ohio 44031 Check-In Date: Sat, Aug 19, 2006 Check-Out Date: Sun, Aug 20, 2006 Your Offer Price: $34.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $34.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.45 Total Charges: $46.45 Used Saving Barn Link!
  17. See win for Cleveland Airport South. It is a little less than half way point home but what is an hour?
  18. Still nothing! I have tried for 2* in youngstown as well! The dreaded Saturday PL stay. I have also been bidding for Akron-Macedonia - Twinsburg 2.5* or 2* and still nothing.
  19. I started bidding at $35, $1 increments, since I had already bid in previous areas up to that amount used as free rebids. I've never stayed at a Radisson, I trust you are correct! Can I whine if you are wrong and have you come pick me up and move to other hotel?! :) I called the hotel and attendant was hostile, rude, and condescending, like I am a second class citizen with Priceline. I replied "So, does priceline also mean I am stuck in dirty room?". She changed her tune towards end of conversation, apologizing. I pray she is not check-in clerk upon arrival!
  20. I was bidding all over of the Columbus area (East, Airport, OSU, Worthington and West included) looking for 2.5/3 star hotel. I've spent the morning bidding and rebidding! This is for "sleep and drive" from Baltimore to St. Louis. I need to get details finalized even though the trip is nearly two months away. I wound up with the Radisson Hotel in Worthington, not happy! :) From the reviews looks like it should be a 2 star, not a 3 star! I am going to call reservations to make request and pray, pray, I get an okay room. I will leave review upon return. Radisson Hotel Worthington 7007 North High Street Worthington, Ohio 43085 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $43.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.57 Total Charges: $57.57 Used Savings Barn Link!
  21. Trying to bid on 2.5 * in Youngstown, OH for 08/19. This would serve as "sleep and drive" hotel from Chicago to Baltimore. Failed bid at 30/night. No free rebids. I will continue to try upping $32, $34 to max of $35. I've narrowed the option of hotels to I will likely win Country Inn and Suites (it is only thing above 2 * in Youngstown, other sites rate as 3 *). No hotel listed in hotel list for youngstown. Hotel website has cheapest rooms at $79-$89, hopefully something will come up. :)
  22. Stayed 5/26-5/28, Memorial Day Weekend. I was attending a game at Fenway and venturing in to the city. Choose airport for cheaper rate. The Good: -Comfy bed and linens -Well apportioned, spacious rooms -Shuttle Service-prompt and friendly drivers. I never waited more than 10 minutes for a ride -Cheap Price-Used Priceline for 65/night -Computer and printer free for use in Executive Lounge and Lobby to check e-mail and print boarding pass. -Able to check in early (1:00) and out late (4:00) for no additional charge -Quiet Room, not a peep heard from outside or other guest The Bad: -Horrible water pressure -Problem with Toilet, stopped up several times -Restaurant service very slow -I left a sheet protector with my travel information and fenway tickets either at front desk or bell captain station. When I realized after nap and called down 2 hrs later the front desk said they did not have. I went down to the front desk and was informed she never checked in the back, they had a prom and were busy. No luck. At Bell Captain station the gentlemen informed me "they would have thrown something like that away". Thrown something away that had my name all over?!? I was able to reprint Fenway tickets using computer however I was upset at the lack of concern that my travel information was missing.
  23. This is near Scotts AFB, about 30 min from St. Louis. I have time but I knew I could get this now for about the same price without the drama. I am waiting a while on the Chicago end of my stay. Sheraton available on Hotwire for $50/night, at hotel website cheapest 100/night Starting bid $29, offered re-bid with $7 increase, declined Using free rebid $31-rejected Last rebid $33 accepted! Four Points By Sheraton Fairview Heights Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $132.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $23.42 Total Charges: $155.42 Used SavingsBarn link
  24. I know right! It is all thanks to their wonderful, frugal daughter they save 1/2!!! My mom did say "I guess that gives us more $$ to get you a gift!". Umm..YEAH! :)
