  1. Need a quick break from LA for weekend, some alone time. :) Did not realize things were so expensive in Santa Barbara/Paso Robles. Goal is drive to Paso Robles Saturday morning (tasting rooms open at 10 am!), spend day. An hour drive to Santa Maria, check-in to hotel, stay night and then explore Solvang and Santa Barbara on way home Sunday. Saw what I thought was this hotel on hotwire for $108. Used the PRICELINE link provided and decided to try my luck. First bid accepted. I would always prefer a little cheaper, but for last minute saturday night summer stay, it will do. :) Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $83.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $83.00 Taxes & Fees: $17.86 Total Charged to Card: $100.86
  2. Short, very impromptu weekend trip away from LA. Friend is there on business and has hotel for Saturday night, this should hopefully be a step up from the Motel 6, so me and my deals look good. :) Saw something on hotwire, thought it was either this or fiesta resort. Used PRICELINE link, as always. Started bid @ $42, rejected. Added re-bid zone, $44 and accepted at Sheraton Tempe Airport. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $44.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $44.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $13.60 (USD) Total Room Cost: $57.60 (USD)
  3. Sigh of relief! I needed a weekend away from my "very LA" roommate with my doggy. Bringing the doggy along required much more effort. A lot of places charge $75 NON-REFUNDABLE fees for doggies. Not sure what my precious cocker spaniel would do to incur $75 over two nights. After a lot of research (hours, lol), I believed I narrowed down to this hotel on hotwire for $79 a night. There is no pet fee. Nothing. I believe even parking is free. I crossed my fingers and prayed to sweet baby Jesus that this 3 star would come up on priceline. It worked. :) $55 was my first bid. Maybe could have gotten a few bucks cheaper, who knows, but I am happy. $119 lowest available price on Sheraton web-site Sheraton San Diego Mission Valley Hotel Circle - Mission Valley West 1433 Camino Del Rio S San Diego, California 92108 619-260-0111 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $55.00 Subtotal: $110.00 Taxes & Fees: $22.50 Total Charges*: $132.50
  4. This is final leg of cross-country move. Make drive from Albuquerque to spend the day in Grand Canyon. This is an interesting place, not really my type. But, my Dad should enjoy, seems like his kind of place. And dog should enjoy. :) Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $56.00 Subtotal: $56.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.84 Total Charges*: $68.84 Quality Inn Mountain Ranch Williams 6701 East Mountain Ranch Road Williams, Arizona 86046 928-635-2693
  5. This is fourth leg of my cross country drive. We are spending the day in Albuquerque after short drive (relative) from Amarillo, TX. Doggy will be in daycare so a dog friendly hotel was not required for this leg. Did not care what area we were staying in. Saw what I believed to be this hotel on hotwire for $57/nt. Had nice reviews and included free breakfast (Dad will appreciate!). Used PRICELINE link, as always. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $44.00 Subtotal: $44.00 Taxes & Fees: $13.14 Total Charges*: $57.14 Albuquerque Airport (ABQ) 1400 Sunport Place Albuquerque, New Mexico 87106 505-242-9300
  6. This is third leg of my cross country move to California. I had no idea what this hotel was going to be. Saw a 2 star on hotwire for $33 that I could not identify, I figured for this cheap, why not. And they accept pets, so no doggy boarding! Started bid @ $27, recieved re-bid offer if add $7. Declined, added East, bid $30-Accepted Extended Stay America Amarillo - West Amarillo West - South 2100 Cinema Drive Amarillo, Texas 79124 806-351-0117 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $30.00 Subtotal: $30.00 Taxes & Fees: $11.70 Total Charges*: $41.70
  7. This is leg two of my cross-country drive to move to California. Traveling with doggy and dad. I was taking a chance and hoping to get Extended Stay Apple Tree, thought I saw it on hotwire for $44/nt. First bid of $35 accepted and it is a new hotel property for the board. They also accept pets. Yay!!! Used the price.lnie link, as always. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $35.00 Subtotal: $35.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.84 Total Charges*: $47.84 Fairfield Inn And Suites By Marriott Memphis I-240 At Perkins Rd Memphis Southeast 4760 Showcase Boulevard Memphis, Tennessee 38115 901-795-1900
  8. This is for my first leg of my cross-country move to California! Having a doggy tag a long will be tricky. But I saw what I believed to be this property on HOTWIRE for $59/nt. First bid of $47 accepted. Used PRICELINE link, as usual. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $47.00 Subtotal: $47.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.88 Total Charges*: $59.88 Holiday Inn Roanoke Valley View Roanoke North - Airport 3315 Ordway Drive Roanoke, Virginia 24017 540-362-4500
  9. Sigh...i may have to pay full price for a hotel. :) We get into too late for a kennel. This trip across the country is going to be expensive! EDIT: I found the Holiday Inn Valley View on Hotwire for $59 a night. They accept dogs. $35 charge but cheaper and more convenient. I bid $47 and it was accepted on priceline.
  10. I am moving to California (yay) and this is the first stop in the drive. I am hoping to get a hotel that accepts dogs so I don't have the extra expense of kenneling. I think(hoping) this hotel is La Quinta Inn Roanoke Salem. Shows shuttle, complimentary breakfast, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry, and high speed internet $48 Can anyone help?
  11. What I believed to be this hotel was available on HOTWIRE for $48/nt. Started bid @ $36, rejected. Added lawndale, accepted @ $38. Flight arrives from east coast @ 10:30pm. I will just need a place to rest my head for the evening. Cheapest total price at hotel web-site was 78.71. Money saved basically pays for parking ($16/nt)! Used the PRICELINE link, as usual. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $38.00 Subtotal: $38.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.65 Total Charges*: $50.65
  12. The remainder of my SanDiego vacation. Not too happy with this location/hotel. I called to request two double beds and with priceline it is an extra $20/nt. I will take my chances with front desk clerk. But it was cheap, and the final price I paid can't be beat. :) $209 advance rate at Hotel website. I was looking on hotwire and there was a 4.5 star $108 w/ a spa that I could not identify. Thought maybe Grant was listing Spa, maybe it is this hotel??? I used my bonus cash ($20/nt), accessed your PRICELINE link first then logged in. Hope you get the credit. Offer Price Summary Bonus Cash Per Room, Per Night: $20.00 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $58.00 Total Offer Price Per Room, Per Night with Bonus: $78.00 Total Charges to your Credit Card Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $58.00 Subtotal: $290.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $62.72 Total Charges*: $352.72
  13. Won two rooms for friends Bacherlorette party. I've stayed here before when I needed to get out of my house for emergency. Nice rooms and location. They also accepted small/medium dogs at no additional charge, which was awesome! I would call to confirm prior to bidding if you're traveling with an animal. The nice person I am, I volunteered to book the rooms and convinced friends we need two for more space and since they are so reasonable. Then I will take the $100 bonus from priceline and apply to my bids for August San Diego vacation. :) Used PRICELINE link, as always. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $48.00 Subtotal: $96.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $21.82 Total Charges*: $117.82
  14. So, I was thinking after I won the last night of my San Diego Trip (8/18-8/25) at this Hotel, maybe I could do the same hotel the first night. We get in around 7:30 p.m and will be exhausted from 5 1/2 flight from East Coast (and I am working 1/2 day!). They have an airport shuttle and I could deal with the rental car in the morning (a good night's sleep always helps me deal with the rental counter!). I played around a little more on the bidding, started @ 48, declined- offered rebid at $14. Bid at $49 and Accepted! Saved $1! $64 on Hotwire, $99 Best Rate on web-site. As always, used PRICELINE link. Holiday Inn San Diego Downtown Downtown San Diego & Harbor Island 1617 First Avenue San Diego, California 92101 619-239-9600 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $49.00 Subtotal: $49.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.75 Total Charges*: $62.75
  15. Hello! This is for the last night of my second San Diego Vacation (8/18-8/25), this time with Mom instead of Dad. I have yet to book prior nights, as thinking of traveling to Palm Springs and Los Angeles for a night each. But, we have an early 7:20 am flight out of SAN to get back to east coast at reasonable time and web-site states a shuttle (dropping Rental Car off Monday night, taking shuttle back, avoids $17/nt parking fee and saves a little time on early morning). As always, used the PRICELINE link. Hotwire Rate was $64/nt, web-site best rate $99. Holiday Inn's aren't usually my first choice but for basically just a night's sleep and price, it will do. Tripadvisor has mixed reviews, but some before renovations. I called the hotel to make sure all rooms were renovated and I wouldn't get a "priceline" room. :) Thanks for always asssiting me with my endless research. This site has saved me, and my friends, tons of money. Holiday Inn San Diego Downtown Downtown San Diego & Harbor Island 1617 First Avenue San Diego, California 92101 619-239-9600 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $50.00 Subtotal: $50.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.90 Total Charges*: $63.90
  16. This is the final installment for my upcoming San Diego trip. I already booked 10/4-10/6 using PRICELINE. My stay at the Grande Colonial in LaJolla is free (I won 2 free nights!). I am very pleased with my bid. Know I may have gotten a little lower if I had waited but as I mentioned before I am traveling with my Dad and wanted concrete bookings. Price at Marriott Site is $229. 17. Hello! I am planning a trip to San Diego 10/4-10/11. I was hoping for a hotel in LaJolla as I will be staying here 10/06-10/08 (Grande Colonial). This doesn't look like a hotel we see often. Tripadvisor does not look that bad though. I am tempted to wait to rent the car since they have an airport shuttle and stay close to the area. Started bid @ 70 San Diego Costal Added Rebid Area @74 Added Rebid Area @78 Added Rebid Area @ 82- Accepted Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $82.00 Subtotal: $164.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $30.19 Total Charges*: $194.19 Price could have been better, website list @ 134/nt but I need to start booking hotels, traveling with my Dad and he is not big on waiting to find out where we are sleeping! Of course I used the PRICELINE link.
  18. This is the Tuesday evening portion of my stay in NY starting 05/25. Tuesday had higher price that Sun/Mon nights so I had to split bid and change hotels. My bidding may be a little confusing, sorry to the newbie
  19. Long time no post...mortgage payment means less travel! I have been doing some research on hotwire and this board for about a week. I will be attending the Sex and The City Premiere at Radio City on Tuesday and will be arriving early to see the sights. I have only done day trips to the city before, even though I only live in MD. I still need to book Tuesday's room. I split my bid as Tuesday prices are substantially higher. Started @ $130 MTE 4* Counter-offer received if I increase by $22-declined Added Brooklyn and increased to $138-rejected Added Long Island City $142-ACCEPTED! Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $142.00 Subtotal: $284.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $55.24 Total Charges*: $339.24 Hotwire listed $172. I always start about 30% under hotwire as my range. Overall I am pleased, I was praying hotwire was correct and it wasn't the grand hyatt. My next option was 3 star Millennium UN, which hotwire listed for $139. I used the link here for PRICELINE. If anyone can give me tips on what to do in the city (where to eat, I love all food!), much appreciated! Thanks!
  20. I won the Allerton Hotel Chicago for my second trip to lovely Chicago. I am happy with the location, I stayed at the Allegro in the west loop area last summer, though I liked, I wanted a different location. Tripadvisor has mixed reviews for the property. I am fine with small rooms, it is just me and I am not planning a party in the room! I have been checking hotwire for about a week. The Tremont was coming up @ $89/nt. Wasn't confident my max, $65/nt, would cover. Today the Allerton came up for $79/nt, was confident $65 would be enough. More options may have opened up closer but I wanted to get travel arrangements out of the way. Used SavingsBarn link to start all bids! NMA, 3 star-$62-failed Added loop, 3 star-$65 accepted Note, the loop is not a fee "rebid" but I would have been okay staying there if accepted. Allerton Hotel Chicago 701 North Michigan Avenue Chicago, Illinois 60611 Your Offer Price: $65.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $130.00 Taxes and Services Fees: $28.12 Total Charges*: $158.12 Cheapest rate at website $139
  21. This is the final night of my Chicago trip, have yet to book 5/23-5/25. I decided I wanted to stay outside of the city my final night for my flight out of ORD. Laying aroud doing nothing until my flight :) I was seeing a 4* on Hotwire ORD South for $69 which was looking like the sofitel with highspeed internet. Maybe Hyatt is now showing internet as well? Rate @ Hyatt site $129, about 60% savings. Used SavingsBarn link Started Bid @ $45-failed Added MDW @ $48- Accepted Hyatt Regency O' Hare Your Offer Price: $48.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $48.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.60 Total Charges*: $62.60
  22. Just a thought...will you have need to access your car the whole trip? On my last trip to Chicago I parked the car at Midway and took the L to my hotel. Trip advisor has a great thread for where to get off, etc. http://chicago-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Show...o_Illinois.html The folks in tripadvisor forums are nice for the most part and can also help with things to do, etc. Good luck with your trip...I am visiting again in May to see everything I missed in August. Trying to scope out prices for hotels right now
  23. I just stayed this weekend, rooms were remodeled, nice. Parking a little steep, $33. I parked across the street for $15, they added valet to bill, I called down and they took off. I wrote a review using the link from the hotel list...
  24. I just stayed there this weekend, 2/17 with a $45 win. Rooms nicely remodeled. My King room was a little on the small side. My one pet peeve was the lack of lighting, only a lamp on one side of the bed and tall lamp near window. When I entered the room there was no light switch, room completely dark. I had to feel my way to the bathroom to turn on light. Tiny, tiny bathroom but clean and somewhat updated. They skimped on linens (cheap feeling sheets, no down comforter, duvet) and bed (hard). The 32' LCD mounted TV was a nice touch, provided more counter and drawer space. They charged me for Valet parking ($33!), I called down and the removed it. Maybe they just assumed? I parked overnight across the street for $15.
  25. I decided to stay in a hotel for my early morning departure for LA on 2/21. I needed a 2.5* so I could park my car and take the shuttle. I would pay over $40 to drive and park to the airport (35min) at 4 a.m.! This way, I can catch a little more sleep and not worry about driving. Started bidding at $40, increasing by $2 for each rebid. Accepted at $48! Started all bids with Savings Barn Link. Courtyard By Marriott Bwi Airport Baltimore - Washington Airport (BWI) 1671 W Nursery Rd Linthicum, Maryland 21090-2213 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $48.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.53 Total Charges*: $61.53 Website shows $239, Hotwire has a 2.5* for $129
