  1. Just tried Jersey city, 3.5* and 3* up to $100 rejected, while the 4* up to $120 rejected, their own website price for the two 4 star (westin and Hyatt) are only $140ish w/o tax. As for NYC, with all zones selected 3.5* up to $170 still rejected. Wife tried soho alone and the 4* up to $180 still rejected, while the lowest own website price for the soho 4* (hilton) is only $259. My question is if eventually I have to pay close to own website price (with my bonus cash added on) to get a winning bid, which would be better in terms of service quality and convenience for touring, a SOHO 4* (most likely that hilton, as other place is either sold out or ridiculously expensive), or a Jersey city 4* (both westin and hyatt have relatively convenient location to public transportation). We won't drive so parking is not an issue, instead the public transportation would be our main method. Thanks.
  2. I actually tried to include all zones in the end after I run out of free re-bidding zones. And the above is my result. Is this a normal price for that time in NYC (which might not be reduced much later on) or it's just not the right timing? And another question is if bidding Jersey city would be a good compromise. I checked PL's list and the 4 stars at Jersey city especially Hyatt at new port seems to be quite convenient for public transportation to Manhattan as well. No reference price for my dates though. Thanks.
  3. Well, I tried bidding last night and it was outrageous. 3.5* up to $170 still all rejected in all areas except long island city and brooklyn, for 4* I went up to $190 and all rejected. I used DT as my main target and used the 4 and 5 free rebidding zones for 3.5* and 4* respectively, starting with $100 and $150 respectively for 3.5* and 4*. Nothing happened. My wife tried MTW area too, same results. Is it still too early for May bidding? I checked Kayak and the rack price for those 4* and 3.5* listed in PL inventory were only $200ish in DT area. Any more quick tips? My bonus cash expires today so I gotta use it before midnight. Thanks. BTW, since I'm looking for two days and we don't care about switching hotel for the 2nd day, would it be easier to get acceptable bids if I bid on two single days?
  4. I would say, including the bonus cash, $150 nite max. Doesn't have to be a 4 star since we would probably spend 80% of our time outside. We did not got to Myrtle beach and Pigeon forge eventually due to change of plans.
  5. We will go to NYC on those dates by bus from DC and would like to stay in Manhattan to save some commute time. Back in Jan this year, we stayed at Omni Berkshire and were indeed spoiled by the convenience of the location (MTE in priceline?). Anyways, I have $160 bonus cash to spend so I have to use PL, and the only criteria I'm having (importance by the descent order) 1. Affordable. So my range is kinda wide from 3* and above 2. Convenient to subway or even better close to some attractions (Omni is 2 blocks away from Rock center) (could be ignored )3. Close to downtown as some of our relatives live there (close to the Chinatown), so I guess SOHO would be that region? (could be ignored )4. Close to Penn station since I'll need to catch my return bus there at night. I've checked the forum and also winning calendar and to be frank with you, not very encouraging. People are paying $200+ per night..... So please recommend some reasonable zones that I should target and may be the star level. Thanks a lot.
  6. Can this coupon be used in resort at Hawaii? I've used PL's own bonus cash which does almost the same thing. You can bid $10 lower than you target price, and the bonus cash fills that $10 in for you. But the bonus cash generally says valid for 3,3.5 or 4 star hotel. Do not know if it's still there if I bid for a resort (a separate category at Maui). Anyone knows?
  7. Haven't used Priceline for about half a year, just now I was trying the bid on a 3.5 star and plus property for the incoming weekend at Myrtle beach, strange things happened. There were 6 bidding zones, my main target zone4 has level 3.5 star all the way to 1 star, zone 1 has only 2 star and below. After the system rejected the 1st price, I added the zone 2 as free rebidding zone and increased my price my $10, leaving the star level still at 3.5 star. After a while, it rejected the price again, not only this the site directed me to a result page from conventional search at my desired time and location, the title reads "we are sorry, cannot accept your offer, but we find out these hotels you might be interested etc". I tried to check everywhere on that page to see if I can get back to the bidding page as there are still a whole couple of free-rebidding zones to try. However I did not find anything to lead me back to my original page. This basically means I only got one free-rebidding chance, no matter how many free-rebidding zones remain. And this is certainly a deal breaker for me. Someone also pointed out that I could locate the rejected bid through "my trips", but that place did not allow me to re-access the bidding page where i could add another zone or change the price. Certainly I could close the browser and restart everything, which means I have to re-enter a whole lot of info such as credit card number, address etc. I like the old style, in the case of a failed bid, they direct you back to the bidding page, you then add the free-rebidding zones, change some price, just initial your name and resubmit. Don't know if there's a way to do the same thing now.
  8. And I did find my rejected request per your hint, but it would not let me to change it at all. Once I clicked on this request, it directed me back to that exactly same search page. It reads "Thank you for using name your price, we can't accept your offer, here is what we found...". It's more like they don't want me to rebid.

  10. I might need some help with the bidding for Gatlingurg-Pigeon Forge around the date I mentioned in title. I've tried to bid in Gatlinburg, Gatlinburg North and Pigeon Forge area, 2* and above, but couldn't find any record for anytime in October. My bid is 60 bux now, still no response from neither one from the 3 areas, the problem is I need 3 rooms. I've searched Holidy Inn and other hotels' own websites, but no availabe place according to my requirements. Any suggestion? Thanks a lot
  11. Saw the price somewhere else, start bid was 50 and it was rejected. Then added 2 bux more and crystal city area, got the room. Pretty good review here, but nobody mentioned it had only one bed room? I just called to arrange two-bed room, being told there was only one-bed room. Sounds rediculous for me that a 2.5* has no two-bed rooms. Or the guy just meant that on that day no two-bed was left. We have two guys here, what should I do besides sleeping with a guy?
