I'm traveling with my wife and will be staying in a hotel on Sunday November 10. I know exactly what hotel I want to bid on the hot Rates list and I know exactly what hotel it is, but I would like to get a king bed rather than the standard 2 queens that HOTWIRE assigns. I called the hotel and they said if I booked through HOTWIRE I could put in a request for a king room but it wouldn't be guaranteed. I asked how many kings were left for that night and they said only 1. So my plan is to reserve the king room now and cancel early the day of (which is free as long as I do it before 6pm), and then to book through HOTWIRE immediately after and put in my request for the king bed that should have just freed up. I'm guessing worst case scenario someone books the last king before I get there and I have a 2 bed room. Any one tried something like this before? EDIT: Should I book through HOTWIRE now also (in addition to reserving the room)? I'm just not sure how it would look to hotel staff when I call to cancel the king suite and they see another through Hotwire under my name...
