  1. One more question, was exploring the Priceline site and found the "you choose" link. Saw that the Greentree Marriot was listed in the list with airport hotels. Is this so? It is far from the hotel. If that is the case, I wouldn't want to bid on that zone.
  2. Haven't bid in a couple years! Is it possible now to bid on a hotel name? Really wanting the Hyatt at the Pittsburgh airport. From reading some posts it seems like you may be able to bid on a certain hotel. Also, I am not familiar with the counter offering! Can someone help! Thanks.
  3. Friday Sept. 3 - Sept. 7(Labor Day Weekend) 4* Hotel $179 per night beach access restaurant pool fitness center business center spa services I would snag this up if I new it was Loews Santa Monica. When I searched for car and hotel Loews was available for $944 including taxes and fees and it displays these same ammentities, but I'm worried it may be a hotel in Marina Del Ray. We DO want to rent a car so maybe this is a better deal or equal since the $179 doesn't include taxes and fees.
  4. Won the Grand Hyatt for $160 the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 29.
  5. They won Grand Hyatt New York for $160. That extra $10 was it! We bid MTE, MTW, UM/CPS bid $160 and won the Grand Hyatt New York. I hope it's nice...Do you know anything about that Hotel? Thanks so much for all of your help! She wouldn't have won it without your help. We placed our bid through savingsbarn.com
  6. Thanks for all you help!!!! Is there anyway around waiting the 72 hours using husbands name, different credit card, address??? So that they could bid today???
  7. They would like to be around $150 before fees and taxes. Tough for this time I know. But they are willing to go down to a 2.5* and add any other zones.
  8. ALSO, they have a dial-up internet service. I guess that is what is slowing down the process? Could that have an effect on a winning bid at all that it takes so long? I have a cable modem and I have always had a response within a couple minutes??? I think at this point they should try all zones because it is just for one night...What do you think? any zone to avoid?
  9. No luck! This is what was tried: 4* MTE bid $120, rejected added MTW $130, rejected added UM/CPS $140, rejected added MTS $150, rejected new Priceline Screen 3* MTE bid $115, rejected MTS $120, rejected MTW $130, rejected UM/CPS $140, rejected Went then to 2.5*$140, still rejected (I can't believe she tried 2.5*) is that scary??? Between each bid she said it took about 15min then said check status? I've never waited more than a couple/few minutes, is that normal?? It took about an hour and a half to go through the process for her. Any other way around the 72 hours with her husbands name??? I really am surprised that they were rejected at $140 3* when The Roosevelt's rate is $289 through them directly. Any other suggestions???? Thanks! Never tried the re-bid zone, didn't quite understand
  10. Also, What is re-bid zone? And they are fine with a 3* so should they start there? Again, thanks!
  11. Thanks for your help. What is a new Priceline screen? Also, I'll certainly let you know how it goes. I've also told them to go through savings barn for Priceline!
  12. This is how they bid: Midtown East $110 then added Upper Midtown at same $110 then added Midtown West at same $110 all at 4 and 3 stars Maybe $110 is way too low. I know they should have increased with each rebid, but... Where should they start price wise for this date? Thanks for all your help!
  13. Yes, we won the Waldorf Astoria for $110. I thought I posted this, sorry if not. We were very excited. We are staying at The Roosevelt Friday night and Saturday night because we have a two night comp. We thought we'd try another hotel for the third night even though we'll have to pack up and travel a few blocks. It's better than paying $289 for the third night at The Roosevelt. Friends wanted to come up for Saturday night and possibly stay Sunday. Unsure at this point about both nights. Would like to be somewhat close to The Roosevelt but not as important as a great rate. They can bid again tomorrow evening. I tried to explain how the rebid works but I'm not sure I was a good help. What is a good price to start? and what would you suggest as far as adding the different zones? Thanks so much for your help!! I really would not have used priceline myself if it weren't for your postings and suggestions. Thanks again!
  14. Friends of mine are using Priceline for the first time. They are bidding for Saturday, November 29, the weekend after Thanksgiving. What do you think is a good bid to start with? They would like to stay in the midtown east part of city (first choice) midtown central or times square next. Would be fine with a 3 star hotel. Can anyone help with steps on rebidding in that area? Thanks so much.
  15. Won the Waldorf-Astoria for $110 November 30-December 1 on Priceline. Went through Savingsbarn, how do you email them for the contest? Never stayed at the Waldorf-Astoria, but am excited! Any comments from those who have?
  16. Just for fun I thought I'd check out the rates for New Year's Eve. Found a 4 1/2 star hotel, Midtown Central with the following ammentities: Restaurant, Fitness Center, Business Center. Any ideas. I checked the Hotwire Hotel list but didn't find this. Also, is it just madness on New Year's Eve. I expect a mass number of people. Thought it would be fun to do just once. Can you get close to Times Square on New Years for the ball drop? We are planning 3 nights over Thanksgiving but not until the Friday after the Parade. Mistake??? Is the parade something not to miss?
  17. That is what I like about Hotwire. The flexibility to possibly figure it out. Would you suggest going for a 4 1/2 star, midtown east regardless for between $146 - $165 or waiting and checking back. I'd hate for prices to go up and that price is good for me for one night. Not a hotel favorite, but beats $289 to stay at the Roosevelt. I would suspect prices to increase as hotels fill up. Do hotels offer these prices or does Hotwire negotiate the price, or...? I've read a lot of postings but haven't found that answer. I love NYC. I am from the Pittsburgh area and will likely visit New York more often with Hotwire prices. With the offers for that date, any suggestions?
  18. Went back to offers for Sunday, November 30 for one night. This is Thanksgiving weekend. prices are really high. Is that common for a Sunday or this holiday weekend? Lowest price I would be interested in is $146, 4 1/2 star, midtown east. sounds reasonable, very. Also, last time I purchased the insurance. Good thing or bad?
  19. Yes, that is correct. We stayed Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27. We were offered an upgrade to a park view for an extra $15. Wonderful view. Thanks for the tip on how to report a win. New to Hotwire and really like it.
  20. Did not check the Hotwire Hotel List. Thanks for the tip! The date, 1 night we are looking to stay is Sunday, November 30. We have two complimentary nights reserved that Friday and Saturday but didn't want to spend $289 for a third night at The Roosevelt. Try something else. Thanks so much for your help. I am new to Hotwire and really like it!
  21. Midtown East, 3 star, Business and Fitness Center...?The Roosevelt? also 4 1/2 star in same area, Restaurant, Fitness Center, Business Center, and Tennis Nearby? no clue. Please help. I have stayed at the Roosevelt before and know they also have a Restaurant but its not listed, nor is it on there own web page. Their page mentions Business and Fitness Center but... We have a two night complimentary room at the Roosevelt and the third nights rate is $289. Figured we'd switch Hotels and go through Hotwire. Any suggestions would be great!
  22. Won Le Parker Meridian for $135 a night. Extremely happy. Great hotel. Great Price. First time Hotwire user. Had a guess it was Le Parker from researching so many hotels. Review stated European decor, flatscreen TV, rooftop pool gave it away! 4 1/2 star, Midtown Central.
