  1. First Bid was $32 based a previous wins posted here. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $32.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $32.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $11.60 (USD) Total Room Cost: $43.60 (USD) Used the PRICELINE link from here.
  2. I saw someone else got this for $39 for the same date on the first bid so I tried bidding $37 and was rejected, then used my rebid zone and got it for $39. I'm at the hotel right now, fantastic hotel for $39!! Room Subtotal: $39.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $12.77 (USD) Total Room Cost: $51.77 (USD) Used the PRICELINE link here.
  3. Comfort Inn in the airport zone 2300 Yale Blvd S E Albuquerque, NM 87106 505-243-2244
  4. Well I executed the plan and finally got a win on THE LAST BID! lol I started at $22 and won the Comfort Inn Albuquerque for $30. I got a duplicate error when I bid on zones 32 in round 3 because I has already bid on 23 in round 2 so I switched to zones 24 and then everything went fine. After the end of each round it would tell me if I increased my bid $7 I could bid again but of course I always declined. I got a too low big warning up through $26. Thanks for the help, I got a nice hotel for a good price, the hotel web site shows $65 as the lowest rate. 5/19/10 $30.00 Taxes & Fees: $11.10 Total Charges*: $41.10
  5. This is what my confirmation says: Courtyard By Marriott Denver South Park Meadows Mall 3 Star Tech Center South 8320 South Valley Highway Englewood, Colorado 80112
  6. I got this on the first bid using PRICELINE link here. $35.00 Taxes & Fees: $11.85 Total Charges*: $46.85
  7. My first bid was accepted. $35.00 Taxes & Fees: $10.80 Total Charges*: $45.80
  8. No rebid zones in Idaho Falls so using history on here I bid $50 and was accepted. Expedia shows this hotel at $100/night. I used the PRICELINE link here. $50.00 Taxes & Fees: $11.90 Total Charges*: $61.90
  9. I bid $39 for a 2.5* in Pinedale - UC Fresno, was rejected, added Fresno and was accepted and upgraded to 3*. Good result for the money. I used the PRICELINE link here. $39.00 Taxes & Fees: $12.15 Total Charges*: $51.15
  10. Ok, I did something wrong because when I went to bid on the second group is said "Duplicate Request". I thought the plan was to bid zone one, if rejected switch to zone 2, etc but when I tried to switch the checkbox for zone 1 was greyed out so I couldn't uncheck it so I thought well maybe I should just add zone 2. So I stupidly added zones until I ran one with all 5 zones and now I will have to wait 24 hours. I knew that would happen. Anyway, what did I do wrong?
  11. Just to clarify, I would only increase my price at the dotted lines? That would give me 9 price increases which is enough.
  12. Price is most important to me and I wouldn't mind spending 15 minutes to save a dollar or two, I have lots of time but little money.
  13. Oh I see your point, what would you suggest? I'm probably going to use this strategy several times on this trip in other cities so I'd like to find the optimal strategy. The albuquerque stay is in on May 19 and out on May 20. One thing I tried to incorporate in my bidding strategy is that I prefer certain zones over others and that is why zone 1 doesn't show up until late, I want to stay in that zone the least. My first choice is zone 7 and that is why it shows up so much, but I'm not sure if this is a good plan or not, I'd love to benefit from your experience!
  14. That's a good point, so the zones are 1 Albuquerque Airport (ABQ) 3 Albuquerque North 4 Albuquerque West 6 Downtown Albuquerque 7 Midtown - Uptown You didn't comment on my bidding plan, is possible to do what I propose?
  15. I want to win a 2* hotel in Albuquerque next week using the PRICELINE link here. I am willing to stay in zones 1, 3, 4, 6, or 7. First question, are any of these zones unacceptable for a 2* area? I mean too scary or ugly? Second question, is the following a viable bidding plan? $20 First bid) New bid: 7 $21 Rebid #1) Rebid screen: 7, add 3 $22 Rebid #2) New bid: 7, 6 $23 Rebid #3) Rebid screen: 7, 6, add 3 $24 Rebid #4) New bid: 7, 4 $25 Rebid #5) Rebid screen: 7, 4, add 3 $26 Rebid #6) New bid: 7, 6, 4 $27 Rebid #7) Rebid screen: 7, 6, 4, add 3 $28 Rebid #8 ) New bid: 7, 1 $29 Rebid #9) Rebid screen: 7, 1, add 3 $30 Rebid #10) New bid: 7, 6, 1 $31 Rebid #11) Rebid screen: 7, 6, 1, add 3 $32 Rebid #12) New bid: 7, 4, 1 $33 Rebid #13) Rebid screen: 7, 4, 1, add 3 $34 Rebid #14) New bid: 7, 6, 4, 1 $35 Rebid #15) Rebid screen: 7, 6, 4, 1, add 3 Thanks.
  16. Thanks for the advice, that will be useful in the future.
  17. I have used this site extensively in the past and it has been a tremendous help. I am now unemployed but wanting to take advantage of my free time and take a long driving vacation to see some of our national parks such as Yellowstone, Yosemite, and many others in the west but I need to do it on an extremely tight budget. My question is how to determine an appropriate opening bid for 1 and 2* hotels? It seems there is little interest in them from people posting wins here. Can I save money using Priceline for these types of hotels? Also, I want to have a free breakfast and free internet as much as possible. So, any advice you have for minimizing expenses would be greatly appreciated.
  18. I used SavingsBarn.com and tried Downtown, Stapleton, and Cherry Creek, each time bidding $30, $33, $37, and $40 for a 3* using Lakewood, Littleton, and Northeast as rebid zones but got all rejected. Then went to Tech North and was accepted on first bid. I guess I should have started at $25 in this zone. Taxes are $11.05 for a total of $41.05.
  19. I went through SavingsBarn.com and bid $45 for a 3* in CS North which was rejected. I then added NorthEast CS and bid $50 which was accepted.
  20. I closed the browser and tried again and now it's back to normal so apparently it's just an occasional thing.
  21. I was just checking Priceline to see what rebid zones I coiuld use in Colorado Springs and it appears that Priceline has changed to format?!? Now the page has Select Area, Select Star Level, and Name Price all together. Is this new or something they throw in occasionally?
  22. I bid $50, rejected, added Fenton bid $55, rejected, added Forest Park bid $60 and was accepted. The web site lists this room for $170/night.
  23. Extended Stay America Kansas City/Airport, $30, first bid.
