Did not want to roll the dice and end up with the vegas club, so got a last minute deal for a room at the tropicana for $55.

Tried first at $75, was rejected. Added rebid zone (Bloomsbury), accepted at $81. Nice win for high season.

Not that this is a huge consolation, but it is Westin, and nicer room-wise than many places on the strip. The neighborhood is perfectly safe, and I would say it is a 5-7 (average speed) walk to Las Vegas Blvd. You can cut across Flamingo though to enter Bally's through the rear entrance (2 minute walk to Bally's) then walk through Bally's to Paris (they connect). Its not ideal, but Bally's rear-entrance is a great shortcut for those at Westin or Tuscany (further away).

They do have a casino, with some decent low-limit blackjack.

Overall though, I do agree, if it isn't on the strip, and doesn't have easy access to the strip, it shouldn't be listed in a strip zone, regardless of what the zone map says. For purposes of comparison, Bally's is actually more than a block away from the strip, they just have some moving sidewalks that make getting inside easier.

I suspected the hotel was the ritz carlton, but ended up booking through easyclicktravel's non-opaque service, and got the Ritz Carlton New Orleans for just $91, a real steal!

Clicked on your link to get to HOTWIRE. I am showing a $9 room in Downtown Las Vegas for the night of August 8, 2011 to August 9, 2011.

It is a 2* showing casino and restaurant, with a 2.5 star rating on tripadvisor.

According to the list, this is either the Golden Gate or the El Cortez, but both of those properties have 3.5 star tripadvisor ratings.

The only hotel downtown on tripadvisor at 2.5 tripadvisor rating is the Plaza, which is currently closed, and is not scheduled to reopen until September.

Any ideas? This is a great deal for $16 with taxes and fees, and no resort fees.

The only reason why I didn't think it was the Monteleone is because when I did a separate search for 9/4-9/6, I found a 4* (not 4.5*)(French Quarter) for $144, that had the amenities listed for the Monteleone, and it was a select your own room which did in fact turn out to be Monteleone.

What do you think?

This seems like a great deal, if its for the Ritz Carlton, but I can't figure it out. The amenities are internet, business, pool, fitness, and restaurant. This is definitely listed in the French Quarter. Any ideas?
