  1. What I object to is that a 'resort fee' was not even made clear after getting the booking. There's nothing I could have done about it because I'd won the bid, but it's just plain 'wrong' to add such charges on (and I've never come across this before, and I've travelled extensively on business - and for pleasure - for 30-plus years) - who's to say such a fee won't be $40 a day instead of "just" $12? No response needed, but I'm going to be posting some less than positive reviews about the Peabody on review sites.
  2. A post script to this booking. The hotel information on the Priceline site for this hotel states the following: "The 464 rooms on 12 floors are large and restful. All include ... free Wi-Fi and a free newspaper each morning." This is not true. Upon arrival I was advised that there was in-room Wi-Fi and a choice of newspaper but this was provided to guests via a daily Hotel Service Fee of $11.95. This is in addition to whatever your room rate is. I said I did not want either service but was told that the Service Fee was not optional. Upon complaining it was made clear that unless I agreed to pay it my booking would be forfeit. So whatever you agree to pay via Priceline (or Hotwire) is not your actual room rate.
  3. You have asked me to post prices in USD before and that is what I have done - the prices I have posted are what Hotwire showed me in USD. After your previous request I did all my searching in USD and then switched to GBP just before I booked. This also applies to the Detroit booking I have just made where you've posted the same issue. I note your point about using the US version of their site but Hotwire showed me this room for $156 for 2 nights: it was not $130 (65 / 2). Ditto the Detroit booking, Hotwire showed it to me as $89 but I see you've altered it to $73. Are you saying that if I had used the US site then I could have got these rooms for $65 and $73 rather than what it showed me?

  5. Just found it: it is now called "Facilities (See all)" in very small type in the Trip Summary box where you enter Traveler Information.
  6. I have made an error in the title. It should be $156 which was the total price I paid for 2 nights: the $78 a night is correct. Please can you alter it? I did not use 'See all amenities'(I will next time), I did a fully copy of the amenity list using what was listed on the detail page (link below). The Hotwire My Account link you suggest does not contain any amenity details under My Trip (I have 3 Trips and none show this info). Hotwire has recently updated some of its page layout and they must have removed this. This is the link to the hotel page: <dead link removed> - this looks identical to what I booked, both short and long amenities are the same. The note at the top is similar also, saying "Book soon! The last person got the Holiday Inn Indianapolis Carmel." EDIT: just looking at another hotel in another city it appears Hotwire have removed the 'See all amenities' links from all pages - I selected Book Now and got to the enter 'Traveler info page and that link is not there, nor on the previous 'hotel details' page. Please advise if I am missing something...
  7. Price is total price for 2 nights, so $$78 a night. Title: Keystone - Carmel area Short description: Free Parking, Free Internet, Pool(s), Fitness Center, Business Center and more Detailed description: Free Parking Free Internet Indoor pool(s) Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access
  8. I read some reviews that indicate this hotel used to be a Marriot and has recently changed its ownership/name.
  9. Previously got the Peabody on Priceline win a few weeks back. Now have to extend my stay but cannot add another night there so got this deal via HOTWIRE. Standard room rate listed as $155. Headline: Cool hotel with a gym for working out Short summary: High-Speed Internet Access, Pool(s), Fitness Center, Business Center and more Detailed: Indoor pool(s), Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access
  10. Just got The Peabody for $115. Started at $80 for 4* only ( :D ) and used re-bid zones up to $115.
  11. Thanks to all for your help with this but I've now booked the Westin via Expedia; the deal was in UK pounds but approximated to $230 so it was in my ballpark and I had the knowledge of exactly where I would be staying, plus I've spent hours (literally) on Priceline and Hotwire trying to get a good deal with no luck and was getting a bit fed up with it all! Appreciate this was not your fault as it appears my dates are expensive but I wasn't willing to pay top dollar (but $230 is not exactly cheap... :o ) and I'm happy with the deal I got. And yes, I did use your Expedia link on the Support page. :)
  12. Any idea what that PE hotel is? Hotwire also has 4* in Financial for $224, 80% recommended, with amenities of Pet friendly, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access - any ideas?
  13. Thanks. I know you have a standard disclaimer about HOTWIRE adding/removing hotels all the time, but it seems a pretty small set for Memphis. Is this more down to perhaps just less activity in comparison to other more popular cities, or is the HOTWIRE set small anyway? Reason is I really want a central hotel and the HOTWIRE downtown area extends beyond where I'd like to stay, so going for a hot deal might mean I end up further away than I'd like. I appreciate this is the nature of the game in taking a deal but any extra insight you've got would be helpful.
  14. 3.5* $77 Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center 70% recommended on Hotwire I think this is the Crowne Plaza, the standard amenity listing is identical to the above - yes/no? 4* $123 Amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access 90% recommended on Hotwire No idea, there's no 4* available on standard listings for my dates and the only 4* you list is the Westin

  16. It was the BW Plus and I got it, will post the win. Thanks.
  17. $225 failed. If you think $225 should succeed, is it worth waiting a few days to try again? I assume prices can come down or new deals can get added...? (Decided against the Holiday Inn, too many complaints about the fact the hotel is split into two sites and everyone who gets put in the 'off-site' location complains, and you have no choice or say which building you get put in.) EDIT: just checked Hotwire: there's a 4* in Financial for £146 / $219 with amenities of Pet friendly, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access - any ideas? Plus, maybe better in terms of knowing what I'm booking, I can get the 4* Westin on Market Street as a standard hotel for £154 / $230. This seems like a good deal as they claim it's normally about $325. Thoughts?
  18. $100 a night 3* Downtown 100% recommended in Hotwire reviews Short amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center Full amenities: Same as short list, nothing additional lsited
  19. New Orleans obviously... $92 a night, 10/7/13 - 10/11/13 Recommended: In 95% of Hotwire customer reviews French Quarter 3* Short amenities: Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center Full amenities: Free Breakfast Free Internet Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower
  20. I think that hotel is the Clift and it's got some very varied reviews on TripAdvisor from 'OK' to 'never stay here again'. The Warwick is also in USW and I don't want to stay there; too many poor reviews of outdated decor plus no air con in rooms, hence now omitting USW on Priceline. Already done that: got as high as $198 without anything. How high do you think I would have to go for a 3.5*?Ditto my 4*, stopped at $210 - how much higher would it take to win that? Sorry, don't follow your instructions: 'click this offer' - which offer? The link you provided just takes me to the Hotwire search page. If I enter my dates, when I try to narrow by star rating I only see 2, 3, 4 or 5 stars, there is no 3.5*. How can I find 3.5*?For the 3*, the full list of amenities is: 3-star Hotel in Fisherman's Wharf This Hotel features the following amenities: Pet friendly Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
  21. Didn't work. I then added 3.5* and started again at $140, went all the way up to $198 with re-bids, again nothing. I know there are only 5 re-bid zones for 3.5*. Also, I found some poor reviews of the Warwick which put me off so I removed USW from the list, just trying USE and FW and Financial. What do you think I might have to bid to get a 3.5* (I think a 4* is out of budget now is $210 won't win)? After spending a few hours on this today I decided to look at HOTWIRE as well. I know it's the wrong forum but to save opening another thread, there's a 3* FW hotel for $200, amenities of 'Pet friendly, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center' with an 85% recommended rate from Hotwire reviews. I think this might be the Holiday Inn but Hotwire don't have a 3.5* rating for secret hotels, so could it be a 3.5* like the Hilton or Best Western? Any ideas?
  22. Many thanks - any advice on days or times to start the process? Or does it not matter i.e. is it a computer that responds to a bid rather than a real person (I mean I know it's online but is the Priceline accept/reject bid process automated)?
  23. Well I did ask "is $130 realistic" and you replied more likely $190-210, but I guess I'm a little confused as to how some folks have recently got 4* at $95, $130 and $150 if you don't suggest a strategy which starts that low. Whatever, happy to take your guidance: let's make $210 the max bid and see what happens.
  24. Yes, different dates but I'm intrigued by the Adagio price at $95 for late November - can you recall what the strategy was for morganmorgan to get it at that price? Seems a real low price and would be v. happy to get something similar. I'm coming across from the UK so I have travel insurance in place already, so if anything happened to prevent me travelling (illness etc) then I can make a claim, so a refundable deal is not a high priority. So I'd go for Union Square East, Union Square West - Nob Hill, FW and Financial District - Embarcadero, in that order of preference, for as low a win price as possible! :) As I've got a couple of months before staying, let's start with 4* only for now and see what turns up.
