  1. I'm very impressed with the information and instructions that you've provided - thank you! Unfortunately we learned yesterday that my husband has been referred to a medical specialist and the appointment is on Sept 10(we can say no to this because these appointments are very hard to come by). We now are thinking of trying to do this trip the following week (i.e., the 2 nights in Boston would now be Sept 15 and 16, or Sept 16 and 17, but now we can't book anything until after Sept 10, pending the results of this appointment (we're completely optimistic that everything will be fine, but don't want to be stressed that we have something that we can't cancel just in case we have to stick around for follow-up after his appointment). So now I'm looking for your professional opinion - would we possibly be able to start bidding on Sept 10 for Sept 15-16 or 16-17, or would this likely be too late (in which case we'll probably just decide to do something else this year and see BOston next fall). We're really disappointed, but have learned in life that medical stuff comes first. And we'd realy appreciate your input on this - any info/insight would be greatly appreciated.
  2. OK, so we've talked about it, and for now we'd like to see if we can stay in the Theatre of Financial district - with the understanding that we'll probably pay more than if we included Copley. We're ready to start bidding - would you say that starting in the $160 range would be appropriate? Thanks again!
  3. Thank you for all of the information! We're definitely willing to wait at least a week or so (i.e., versus locking in now) to see if the prices could potentially come down - we don't want to wait much longer than 2 weeks before we go (so 2 weeks from now at the very latest). ~$200/night would not be outside of our price range, but it would be nice if we could do a bit better. To answer your other question, I think we'd be willing to look at Copley if it is considered central - we want to be able to walk everywhere and on the Priceline map it looked a little away from things. Would most everything be walkable from that area, do you know? If so, then Copley would be fine too. Thanks again very much for your assistance!
  4. We'd definitely like to stay at a 4*, so it's good to know that we'll likely have to go a bit higher. What do you think about timing and where to start in terms of price bidding? Thanks!
  5. Thank you for the reply - I have read my messages and I think I understand how the board works - I will certainly use the links on this board to get to Priceline and Hotwire from now on. To answer your question, we're looking for 4* hotels (or maybe 4 1/2*). Any tips/suggestions? Thanks!
  6. Hi! I'm new to this board but very thankful for finding it. Lots of good info. My husband and I are planning a trip to Massachusetts, with 2 nights in Boston, on Sept 8 and 9 (a Sunday and Monday). We'd like to stay in either the theatre district (Boston Common, I think) or the financial district (Quincy Market). Our price range is approx $150/night USD (before taxes) - this is about the max that we'd like to go, if possible. Any tips on when to bid and how much to start? Thanks in advance!
