  1. I wanted to thank you for your help and insight. I showed my wife the 48LEX, and she loved it. We booked the $153/night PRICELINE EXPRESS deal on PRICELINE using the board links, and it was indeed the 48LEX. I think we got a much nicer hotel for just about the same amount of money. Thanks again!
  2. Of those on your list I like Hotel 48LEX the best. Looks like a really nice hotel. I believe I found it on Priceline Express - $153/night in Midtown East? The only downside I see is that after taxes, it's about $70 more trip total (after taxes) over our existing reservation at the RI. But it does look nicer. I noticed on the Priceline maps tool that the low end of the range was $125 for bidding. Is it possible to get that? Or is that highly variable? I'm noticing too of course that other 4.5* hotels have lower ranges so I may end up getting them as well, right? Also, we chose our current hotel due to the rate, and due to the proximity to Hell's Kitchen and Broadway. We have tickets to two Broadway shows, and we enjoy being near a variety of interesting restaurants. I've noticed your list is mainly Midtown East - would it have the same variety in places to eat?
  3. I would be good with either of those scenarios, but would probably lean toward a nicer hotel for about the same money. I feel like I'm at the point now where I have a pretty decent price-value ratio, and spending a little less might mean a bigger drop in quality. But if I'm wrong about that, feel free to correct me, because I definitely haven't researched all or even half of the deals out there. Thanks for your help!
  4. This is probably kind of an odd question, but I'm a deal-seeker. We have a cancellable rate booked at the Residence Inn Manhattan/Central Park for approximately $153/night before taxes from 2/13-2/19, for a standard king room. I've used Hotwire in the past and I'm comfortable with that. I've never used Priceline, but I've noticed the RI Central Park is included under the 3* list for Priceline for Midtown West. Do I have a great rate for this time and quality of hotel, or could I possibly get a comparable rate at a comparably nice hotel using Priceline's bidding? We are happy staying just about anywhere, however we are favoring the MW/Hell's Kitchen area. We have been to NYC twice before, previously staying at the Tryp Times Square South and the Holiday Inn Lower East Side, so we definitely don't want to stay in the same areas. I appreciate the help. I have been using the board links to search some on Priceline and Hotwire, but I didn't see much on Hotwire in my previous searches. So I thought I'd try Priceline bidding.
  5. Hi again, Just wanted to report my win. We had to drop our budget a bit, and decided we wanted to stay somewhere completely different than our last stay. Thanks to this site, I was able to completely scope out the hotel and knew what it was prior to booking. Holiday Inn NYC - Lower East Side Hotwire: 7/4 to 7/7 $143/night 3* East Village - Lower East Side 95% recommended (No TripAdvisor rating shown) Free Internet Internet Access Fitness Center Business Center Looks like a newer and very nice hotel convenient to a lot of great shops and restaurants, and close to the subway to explore Brooklyn as well if we want. Thank you again!
  6. In digging a little deeper, it looks like the Maritime Hotel is another real possibility - it's a highly rated boutique hotel that allows pets, although the comparable rates are slightly higher than the Eventi (and as such the $175/night would be a steeper discount). I have to think about it. I do like the location of the Maritime, but I don't like the rooms as much and would still prefer the Eventi. I may have to reserve on Eventi's website to be sure. I thank you for your input. I'll update if I go the Hot.wire route with my win.
  7. I have no idea why I put the 14th through the 17th, it should be July 4th - July 7th. My apologies.

Is this possibly the Eventi? I'm shooting for the Eventi, and I think this is it, but I'm afraid I'm letting my desire of it cloud me possibly missing something... $175/night does seem a little low for the Eventi, and there are a few other 4* Chelsea hotels that seem to offer pets as well. Thank you for your assistance.
  9. It looks like Hotwire has recently or is in the process of updating their website. For some reason, on the newer version of the website (if you simply type www.hotwire.com, for example), the roll-in shower wasn't coming up. However, when I went to make my purchase, I used the HOTWIRE link on the board here, and it went back to the "old" website, and roll-in shower appeared. So if others have trouble seeing extra amenities in the future, maybe this will have something to do with it? Anyway, I decided to pull the trigger on the $97/night 3.5* hotel in MSG area, and it did indeed turn out to be the TRYP. We couldn't be happier - this saves us nearly $300 off the total price of the reservation through their own website. Thank you so much for your help!
  10. Nope, I double-checked just to be sure, and there isn't a roll-in shower listed as an amenity. We do like the TRYP, but given some of the other 3.5* options we aren't quite as keen on, I'd be inclined to keep looking. Any other guess on that one? Maybe the Affinia Manhattan? Although I see that one also has a roll-in shower as a common amenity. Or can you make any recommendations for anything that is available now? It doesn't have to be a super nice place, anything from 3* and up is fine. Some hotels that we've been checking out and considering for the regular rates include the Wyndham Garden Chinatown, Best Western Bowery, TRYP, and other similar places - nice hotels that aren't necessarily boutiques. We're looking to keep it under $150/night for the 7-night period 1/1 to 1/8, and the only amenity we really want is free wi-fi. Any area in Manhattan is fine. Thanks again. EDIT: Here's one I spotted. This also looks like a really nice hotel.
  11. Thank you for your help! We decided against the Holiday Inn. I'd like to ask about another, if that's okay, rather than starting a new thread. Dates: 1/1/2014 - 1/8/2014 Price: $97/night 3.5 stars, Madison Square Garden - Hell's Kitchen area, 95% recommended, 4.5/5.0 TripAdvisor Amenities Free Internet Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom I am thinking this is perhaps the TRYP. This would be quite a low price for what I've heard is a very nice hotel. Thanks so much, again, You've been very helpful.

TripAdvisor Rating: 4.5 out of 5.0 Recommended 95% Amenities Free Internet Indoor pool(s) Fitness Center Restaurant(s) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower I am thinking this may be the Holiday Inn L. I. Manhattan View, but I'm not sure. Also, I've never used Hotwire before, so is there a way to tell if it's a full/queen/king bed? Another question: Since it states it's an accessible bathroom, does this indicate it would be guaranteed to be a handicapped accessible room? We don't need these amenities, so I would be unsure of getting a hotel with this. Thanks so much!
