The hotel which I originally saw may not have lasted for long.  I also was looking at PRICELINE and they also had a 4.5* in the same area for $106.

After using the very helpful BiddingHelper.com, I decided to bid for a room on Priceline hoping to save a little money, by bidding a little less than $106.  

I used your links to begin the bidding process, and I ended up with a winning bid of $97 for a 4.5* in the Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile.  I'm very happy with the result, as it's a highly rated hotel.

Was trying to figure out which hotel this is.  It has been recommended 95%.

Magnificent Mile - Water Tower

The amenities are:

Free Internet - Boutique hotel - Business center - Children's activities - Fitness center - Golf nearby - Pet friendly - Restaurant(s)

I was thinking that it is the Thompson Hotel.  Any thoughts?

The rate is $106 for one night.  Seems like a good deal.  What do you think?

I tried bidding on hotels in different zones, using the site PRICELINE links.  I bid my way up and eventually had a bid accepted at $205.  It turned out to be the InterContinental Barclay in Midtown East.  I saved $15 a night over the PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal price.  Not a huge savings, but savings nonetheless!

PRICELINE bidding is generally cheaper but you have to be willing to accept ANY 4*  in the zone (in this case, MTE) you select. PRICELINE EXPRESS and HOTWIRE are generally slightly-to-moderately more expensive, but there's the benefit of often being able to make an educated guess as to which hotel is showing.

 

Are you okay with any of the potential 4*'s in the zone?

Yes.  I am okay with any four star, and I am willing to stay in many different zones.  

How much do you think that I could save by bidding?  If it's significant, I'm willing to take a risk on an unknown hotel.

These amenities are somewhat common, but given the amenities and the 8+ guest rating showing, my guess would be the Intercontinental Barclay.

I am visiting NYC next Monday Sept 8, departing Wednesday Sept 10.  I've looked around, and hotel rates for those days seem to be very high.

I'm not particular about the neighbourhood, as I know NYC well and can get around easily on the subway.

I've found a priceline express deal for $220 a night for a 4 star in Midtown East.  It lists amenities as: Pets Allowed, Restaurant, Fitness Center and Business Center.

These amenities seem to fit the W Hotel and the Intercontinental Barclay.

Can you confirm these guesses?

Also, am I likely to find a better deal by naming my own price?  If so, could you suggest a bidding strategy?

I began bidding for this itinerary at $100 a few days ago and gradually worked the price up till I made a winning bid yesterday at $132 per night, excluding taxes.

In my bid, I also includes a few other London districts: Marble Arch, Soho, Chelsea, and Westminster.

The Hilton Olympia is fairly poorly rated on Trip Advisor.  However, the price of $132 is a decent discount from the lowest rate I could find elsewhere online.

As always, I used the board PRICELINE links to make my bids.

How can I keep a lookout for those codes?  I'm planning a few hotel stays for the summer months and it seems that 15% off Express Deals beats or rivals the lower price range of Name Your Own Price.

Are the coupon codes listed on a particular part of the website?  I've been visiting the site regularly in the last week but I only discovered the existence of the codes by random luck.

There is a 5* Mayfair Priceline Express right now for $246.   With the 15% discount obtained from clicking the code in thereuare's signature, the rate comes down to about $210.  

 

PRICELINE EXPRESS deals seem to change fairly often.

Hello, I was wondering about the 15% discount code that you mention.  I could not find any discount code in Thereuare's signature.  I'm sure it's something easy that I'm missing, but could you point me in the right direction?  A 15% discount on Express Deals brings the price way down!

I am visiting NYC for a wedding and need a hotel room for three nights from October 8, checking out October 11.

The bridal couple arranged a rate of $279 at the Carlton. I don't mind staying downtown, for the right price, as I have friends that live in that part of the city. I would not want to stay on the UES or UWS.

Do you think that I can do better than the Carlton regarding price/value on PRICELINE? And if so, how would you proceed?

2. 4* North Michigan Ave, Water Tower, Gold Coast. $454 per night. Boutique, Customer Favorite, Business Center, Fitness Center, Restaurants, High-speed internet

I'm looking for a nice place to stay, in a good Chicago location.

I bid $68 for a 4* Downtown hotel and was accepted on first bid. The hotel was the Westin Bonaventure.

You were right on the money.

I booked the GR Solaris All-Inclusive from 4-7-06 to 4-15-06 at $279 per night.

Trying to decide between two options on Hotwire, for a stay in Cancun from 4-7-06 to 4-16-06.

4* w/ following nine (9) amenities: beachfront, restaurants, pools, fitness center, high-speed internet, children's activities, golf nearby, tennis nearby, business center. Price $165 per night.

4* All-inclusive w/ following 17 amenities: (1) Resort, (2) beachfront, (3) food & beverages included, (4) Premium Beverages, (5) a la carte dining, (6) water sports, (7) evening entertainment, (8) daily activities, (9) pools, (10) spa services, (11) fitness center, (12) children's activities, (13) tennis nearby, (14) golf nearby, (15) resuarants, (16) business center, and (17) complimentary breakfast. Price $280 per night.

I thought that the all-inclusive might be the Dreams Cancun, but the amenities don't match up perfectly with those mentioned in previous posts. Another strange twist: the all-incluse charges almost no fees or taxes into the total amount -- only $7.15 for the whole trip, while the 4* charges $181.
