  1. I would have liked a 5 star hotel for this trip - I went up to $150 bid for Mayfair/SoHo and was rejected. So I started on a 4 star bid $65 - Mayfair/SoHo - Rejected $75 - Bloomsbury/Marble Arch added - Rejected $80 - Kensington/Earls Court added and Accepted - Holiday Inn Kensington Forum. This is about 1/2 of the lowest available internet rate for this hotel. As always, I used the Savingsbarn.com link to book on Priceline.
  2. San Diego - Del Mar Area - Feb 23 - 1 night - 3 star. I am not flexible on the area or date. 1st request - $60 Rejected. 2nd request - $65 offer to increase bid by $17. I have a reservation at the Hampton Inn Del Mar at an internet rate of $99 - so $82 doesn't seem like a great deal. Should I perhaps wait until it is closer to travel time? Thanks for any suggestions.
  3. 1st bid - $50 for a 3* hotel 2nd bid - $56 for a 4* hotel - got the Marriott O'Hare. Hotel was fine but charged $20 for self-parking. I thought this was out of line for the area, but I don't know.
  4. I started the bidding process again adding 3* level. I went to $96 and was upgraded to the (currently) 4* Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill. The current rate on the Hyatt website for those nights is $269.
  5. I think I actually stayed at the Hyatt in that area when it was just opened. I remember the area not being too wonderful - but it has probably changed. RE: Parking, would I be better off in Crystal City?
  6. Arrival - July 9 - 2nts Started at $75 for a 4* hotel in the Dupont Circle Area Increased bids in $5 increments adding Downtown, then Georgetown, the Crystal City. So, I'm now up to $90 with no luck. Any suggestions? I'll have a car and really don't need to stay where parking will be so expensive. I really don't need a 4* hotel - but don't want to stay in a run-down Holiday Inn. Thanks for your suggestions.
  7. I bid $90 for a 2.5* and won Glen Cove Mansion And Conference Center Dosoris Lane Glen Cove , NY 11542 Hotel Rating: 2 and half Star Check-In: Thu, May 4, 2006 Check-Out: Fri, May 5, 2006
  8. No upgrade. This is a 2 star hotel on Priceline.
  9. I tried Priceline again - $40 / 2 Star hotel and got the Radisson at Memphis Airport. It's interesting that on Expedia this is a *** property.
  10. That was easy - can't believe that Clarion responded within a few minutes with the $63 rate. Thanks.
  11. I have to admit, money is not really an object for this trip. Priceline is the only "gambling" I do - just don't want to over-bid. Bruce
  12. I bid (using the Savings Barn link) $40 for a 2.5 start hotel at Memphis Airport. This bid was rejected. Any ideas, and any ideas what hotel this might be? Date of travel: May 21. Thanks, Bruce
  13. San Francisco economy car - $12 for 1 day (Friday, March 17) from Hertz. $14.77 additional taxes and fees. Bruce
  14. I need to be somewhere in the vicinity of Hicksville. I have a back up reservation using my Starwood points at the Four Points in Plainview, so I'm not desperate.
  15. I have bid (via Savingsbarn.com) a few more times for a 3 star hotel in Westbury/Glen Cove/Oyster Bay and now up to $95. Any suggestions? My date of travel is 5/4. Thanks, Bruce
  16. My first bid of $12 for a compact car was rejected. I re-bid $14 for a mid-size car (May 12-14) and it was accepted by Hertz. Bruce
  17. May 4 - 1nt. I use SAVINSBARN.COM to link to PRICELINE! Bruce
  18. I have bid $72 and lost for Westbury/Glen Cove/Oyster Bay 3 star hotel. Any ideas which hotels are used in that area and how much is usually accepted for a Thursday night? Thanks, Bruce
