  1. 1/1-1/5 Times Square 3* 114$ This property shows only up when i select 1 person, not 2. Any idea which hotel this might be? Amenities are fitness center, business center, restaurant and high speed internet. According to the hotwire hotel list it could be the crowne plaza or the paramount. It shows 3.0 tripadvisor rating. Paramount is 3.0 and crowne plaza is 3.5. So it seems to be the paramount... If i knew it was the crowne plaza i would book it. Any way to figure out which one it is? Thanks
  2. I don't know for sure- I will see him on monday and ask him.
  3. You are welcome. Learned a lot in the past about hotwire and priceline, so i am happy to provide something. The dates are 10/01 - 10/05. The price was around 85$ per night (could be 1-2 more or less).
  4. A colleague of mine booked the 2.5* Brooklyn hotel for his stay in october. He just showed me his confirmation mail. Amenities were Complimentary Breakfast & High-speed Internet Access. He got the Comfort Inn Brooklyn. Maybe this information can help some people here, as it hasn't been identified before.
  5. Thanks, i just checked the price on hotwire again and now the Hyatt is offered for 112$. The availability of rooms for hotwire and priceline has to be connected....
  6. I was succesfull for 68$ per night. Yesterday i tried 60 and 65, today i started at 66 and then 68 and was accepted. Got the Hyatt as expected! This morning i read a lot about the basement rooms in the monaco which scared me a bit, so i decided to give the Hyatt a try and for 68$ i defintely can't complain, compared to hotwire i save 16$ more per night. Was also asked if i want to extend my stay, but i think NY on New Years Eve has more to offer, even if i have to pay 100$ more for the hotel! Thanks a lot for your help, used savingsbarn.com PRICELINE link
  7. 70-75$ would be my maximum for the Hyatt if the Monaco price will stay at 99$. Better Location and all the free things are worth 25$ per day. Is this realistic? From the pictures i saw i liked Hotel Monaco, too bad there aren't any candid photos on tripadvisor where you can see the rooms at....
  8. Thanks for the answer. I have a cancelable reservation for the Park South Hotel in NY 12/31-1/1 for 159$. For the date it's a great rate. About Washington i would like the Monaco more. Both hotels seem to be fine, but the Monaco has free wifi, free pool, free wine in the afternoon and a better location. Everything seems to speak for the monaco, only the right price would make me want to take the Hyatt. What would you suggest and what price is realistic? When it comes to bidding i will definetly use you PRICELINE link!
  9. Hello, i am looking for a 4* hotel in Washington DC from 12/28 - 12/31. After that i want to return to New York for New Years Eve, because i think New York has a lot more to offer on new years eve than Washington, or am i wrong? Otherwise i would consider staying 1 night longer in Washington. Hotwire shows me 2 available Hotels in the White House - Capitol Hill area. The first is 4* with the amenities: Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Golf This seems to be Hotel Monaco for 99$ The second one is 3,5* with amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business This seems to be Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill for 84$ On priceline both hotels are in the 4* category. I guess even if i bid more than 84$ i would still get the Hyatt and not the Monaco. I guess there is no way to get the Monaco via priceline and i would always get the Hyatt and not the Monaco. What do you think i should bid for the Hyatt? I read the Hyatt charges for using their pool 14$, wifi seems to be complemetary in the Monaco. Hotel Monaco seems to have a better location compared to the Hyatt, but if i am not sure how much more the location is worth. Thanks
  10. Thanks for the fast answer. I searched for the dates last year and saw the Barclay was won in March for New Years Eve for 130$. This was what made me hope. Do you remember when the Times Square hotels where won for just over 100$? This is exactly something i am hoping for... I searched, but couldn't find these rates. For the first nights i already have the Wall Street District hotel. If i found a 4* for the same price (130) or a little bit more i would cancel it. I am only 25 but while looking at the pictures for the Pod hotel i felt to old too. A private bath is definetely a must.
  11. I have another question: The hole NYC Trip is 12/28-1/5. The first 4 nights i got through my travel agency the Wall Street District Hotel f
  12. Last week priceline mentioned that my bid is not likely to be accepted because the median retailprice for a room was above 400. Today i tried again using the prieline link at SavingsBarn and they didn't mention it was not likely to win and their retail price was 199$. I guess i'll have to wait some time.
  13. Thanks for your answer. As a backup i have the Hyatt for a refundable 199$ rate, which isn't for NY too bad either. The days seem to be really cheap. 4* under 200$ for New York seems very rare to me. I am just wondering why i don't get it for 130 when the hotel offers it for prepaid 189. There is no such big difference. Have saved muched more in previous years. Is the hotwire price somehow connected to the priceline price? When i see it go down, will the chances be higher to get a lower price on priceline? MTE would be my first choice. I have stayed at the Barclay before and really liked the area and the rack rates in MTE seem to be the lowest for my travel time. Upper Midtown/Central Park South would also be great, as there are nice hotels. I would also bid on midtown west, but would prefer the other two areas more. ps: Next time I'll definetely use one of your links
  14. Hi, i am looking for an 4* Hotel in Midton East from 1/1-5 Prepaid rates on the hotel's homepages for the Intercontinental Barclay are 254 and for the Hyatt 189. I began from 110 adding Upper East Side 120 and finally adding Upper West Side 130. I looked for the same dates in 2007 and the hotels were won for under 110. Are the rooms going to be more expensive this year or am I just too early? HOTWIRE lists the Barclay or the Hyatt for 179 Thanks
  15. I also saw this in a german board and booked from 8/21-8/28. What a great rate. Flights from germany to NY are expensive at that time, becaus it's holiday time, but who cares under that circumstances.
  16. Seems to be the Intercontinental the Barclay, i booked it for myself in april. Showed the same amenities and if you take a look at the Hotwire Hotel List for New York it is the only possibility.
  17. @Blueskies, the concierge idea is very good. I am going to send them an email, i'll let you know what their answer was as soon as i know. Thanks so far
  18. Thanks for the fast answer. So you would just write them, that we are there for the birthday and ask if they have a 2 bed room available? So the brithday might actually help us? I already read about the in advance tip, but i am not sure about it in a hotel which rates are normally 300 per night to ask for a better room for 20 or 50 $ for a stay of 7 nights.
  19. Hi, my sister and I am traveling to New York from 4/23 till 30/4 to celebrate her Birthday there. We got Intercontinental-The Barclay via Hotwire. Do you think it would be smart to ask the hotel in advance for a non smoking room with two beds via email. I already joined their priority club. So i could state my mebershipnumber in the mail or would it be best to ask at check in?
  20. I just checked hotwire.com the same hotel is now for 234$ per night. How is it possible that the price changes so fast so much. A couple of $ i could understand, but that are 89$ per night in 48h. Its a lot of money for 7 nights
  21. Got Intercontinental - The Barclay from 4/23-30/4 for 145 per night. Was stated on Hotwire as customer favourite with restaurant, fitness center, tennis nearby and Business center. Before booking i checked the hotel list and thought it would be the intercontinental, which it finally turned out to be. Tried Priceline before, split the stay and bid up to 120. Now I won't have to change the hotel during the stay and for the length of the stay the price seems more than good to me.
