Call them and push (while remaining friendly, don't get aggressive or the agent will not help you) for a rebooking to a different 4* Hotel in the same area. They will try to give you the cheapest *4 Hotel in that area they're offering for your booked dates, so you can check on the website beforehand. Even if you get a more or less random *4 Hotel in Champs Elysees Areas, it's still a great deal at 32$, right?

This is most likely the Tivoli Sao Pauli Mofarrej (it's the only one *5 hotel with only 4.0 TA rating, the other two *5 hotels have 4.5). 176€ per night including breakfast. 222USD - *4.5: Has a 4.0 in TA with 100+ reviews, facilites only pet friendly, no other clue. I'm wondering whether this is the Mercure Grand Hotel Parque do Ibirapuera (it's the only *4.5 hotel on TA with 4.0 rating and between 100 and 200 comments). Asking for 97€ per night. 116USD - *4: Has a 4.0 in TA with 300+ reviews, facilites include FREE internet, fitness, restaurant, business centre (not mentioning pool). I believe this is the Novotel Sao Paulo Jaragua Convention (it's the only 300+ comment 4.0 rated 4 star hotel on TA without pool. The Renaissance Sao Paulo Hotel has the same TA stats, but it has a pool and I'm wondering whether this would be shown on hotwire with the amenities). 57€ per night. 68USD

I'm looking for a hotel in Sao Paulo for end of december 2013, does anyone have any experience with hot deals for Sao Paulo? After a pleasant call I got my booking changed from "le Meurice" to "Hotel Scribe Paris". Not as fancy as the Meurice, but still a great hotel (especially for 70€ per night ;)). Thumbs up for Hotwire on doing the rebooking without making a fuss, they admitted the tech glitch that allowed the Meurice bookings was their fault and were quite forthcoming (rather than pushing for a mere refund, the reaction I kind of expected).

I had also booked the Le Meurice and got the confirmation email from Hotwire. However they didn't charge the full amount to my credit card, I only got notification (from my credit card company), that Hotwire inquired 1€ on the card. But no charge on the card yet. Tried emailing the hotel asking to confirm my reservation, no response yet. Hope it works out, otherwise I'll have to do some calls with Hotwire and fix it.
