I got the Clift Hotel for $139.00. Started last week at $80.00 and did the usual drill, added an area and increased my bid. The room I had when I stayed there in 2011 (winning bid of $125.00) was small but the staff was nice and location is convenient to my meetings so I am pleased.

Aaron - Thanks for your response. I will be in SF March 12-14. Last year I used Priceline and got the Hotel Nikko for $145/night. In 2011 I got the Clift Hotel for $125/night. I would like to stay in the range of $125 - $150 so I still have a way to go. I will be back trying again this morning. Smantha - Thanks for your response too! I Googled tradeshows and conferences in SF for March back in January but did not come across the Website you listed. It looks like the tradeshow you reported will be over the day I get there, phew!

Does anyone know if there are big trade shows or conferences being held the week of March 11? I saw here the following winning bids for Union Square West: $96 (1/3 - 1/5), $111 (1/18 - 1/19), and $100 (2/16 - 2/17). My unsuccessful bids (over the course of a week) started at $80 (using additional areas to increase bid) and are now at $133. Is it because the low winning bids were for the weekend? Should I just be patient and start over in a week or so?

My apologies. I did go to the wrong site. I am puzzled though. When I went to Lastminutetravel.com I saw the price for the Hilton (which is now 261) but The Clift was not listed. Am I again missing something? Oh, and by the way, I did get the Hotel Nikko for 145/night on priceline.

I didn't know about lastminute.com so I went there. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, the rate at the Clift is $315/night for March 13-15.

Does anyone know if there is something big happening in SF the week of March 12th? I have been trying to land a 4* hotel for March 13-15 and so far have been unsuccessful. I noticed others were successful (all USW): March 27 $95, March 4 $115, March 3 $95, and February 11 $110. I know those are different dates but I used those as a benchmark. I am now bidding at $135.
