Update - I emailed HW, but after a few days of not hearing back I called CS. It took about 45mins but HW agreed that the hotel was out of zone/refunded my purchase/credited me with $50 HW bucks for the headache. The price is right but the hotel is out of the Hotwire advertised zone. This is the first time this has happened in geez 15 years +. I began using Priceline when it first started then Hotwire. Wish I had invested $1000 in their stock rather than their services. Anyway, I've contacted HW and awaiting an email response. They have always been good about correcting a TRUE mistake when it is a mistake. I booked a "suite" at an All Inc in Cancun which turned out to be a largish hotel room. HW concurred and refunded most of the room price in HW bucks and let me stay there.

Thereuare, If HOTWIRE is posting an average rate for 4* or 5* hotels in that zone, why are the rates (quoted rates which the hotwire derives the discount percentage) for the same zone/* rating often vastly different? I'm looking at 2 a 4 1/2 star properties same dates/same zone - One is quoted at $216 "normally:" and the other $135. I often try to use this along with TA ratings (if provided) to zero in the property. I'm often wrong when I do this but there is not much else you can do in data poor areas. Pegleg

New listing for Hotwire Pinned - this hotel looks nice but it is a ways from the airport and downtown. Seemed to be a good value compared to the reports of bedbugs at the lower airport hotel and the high rates of downtown. I tried Priceline up to $81/night/3 star for DT,Entertainment + freebees.
