  1. hey Aaron, What is a former "W" property mean? Also - here is all the amenities: Free Internet, Pet Friendly, Fitness Centre, Restaurant, Business Centre, Self Service Laundry, Internet Access. That's it. Thanks! Andrew.
  2. Hi, I ended up bidding all the way up to $220 on PriceLine and no dice - I happened to "Refresh" Hotwire (used the links) express deals and a 4* property in ESB with an 85% trip advisor rating dropped from 265/night to 205/night - so i booked it. Ended up with the "St. Giles - The Court New York". The attributes were: Free Internet, Pet Friendly, Fitness Center, and Business Centre - 85% TA rating. Thanks for all your help. Andrew.
  3. Hi Thereyouare, Thanks so much - will try this tomorrow. Quick question - given it's unlikely that anything in the $140 range will get accepted, is there a reason we start so low, and not somewhere like $175? Or is it really just to see if there might be a "new deal" in that price range? Andrew.
  4. Hi Thereyouare, I'm happy ending up in that range - do you have a bid strategy that i can try (in 24hrs) to do that? Thanks Andrew.
  5. Hi Thereyouare, I went through the process, and actually "upped" most of the bids - and ended up at $201/night. No go. Any advice? Andrew.
  6. After looking - i think i figured out thes were my re-bid zones - but i just want to confirm. For a 4* NYC: Queensborough Bridge Morningside Heights - Harlem Thanks! Andrew.
  7. Hello :) I tried giving this a shot - then got confused (lol). Where you say: Select 4* MTW and MSG... Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... What are the two re-bid zones - have i missed something? Andrew.
  8. Hi thereyouare, I'll give this strategy a go tomorrow. FYI, i'm changing my nights from Oct 3 - 6 (fri/sat/sun night) to Oct 2 - 5 (thur/fri/sat night) - should i change anything in the strategy, or really no difference for that small change. Thanks! Andrew.
  9. Hi Thereyouare, Thanks for your explanation of how this works. I would love to take a shot at the $160 price range and see if i win something. So can you possibly setup a bidding strategy to achieve something in the range you mentioned below? If it doesn't work - and it starts getting close to the $202 price range, then i'll probably just stick with that. Thanks! Andrew.
  10. Hi Thereuare, I think i'm seeing the same one your seeing (same amenity list) for $205/night. That being said, i looked at the Affinia Dumont websites, and it looks like they are booked for those nights? Could it be that property then, or likely something different? $205/night is reasonable - do you think if i start bidding from about $150/160 (As suggested above) i'll get a good property? I don't want one with a 55% TA rating. Please advise the best course of action :) Andrew.
  11. HI AaronJB, I went to Hot.Wire and couldn't see that hotel for $196 in the ESB - the cheapest i can see is $221. I'll also take your advice and avoid CPS and MTE due to your concerns as mentioned. LIke i said - i don't mind walking some - but i also want to be in the middle of some nice "action" (i.e.// restaurant, cafes, etc) and walking distance to a few sights :) Perhaps you can let me know if the areas i've chosen are good for that? Thanks for your help. Andrew.
  12. Hi Thereuare, Thanks for the information - i'll make sure to complete this thread once the transaction is done :) Sorry about my oversight. As an aside, i'm also willing to spend more then $150/night - i'd be content in the $200-225 range (does that give me more flexibility?). While i have no issues with the downtown financial district, i'd prefer to stay somewhere that more convenient. So i'd say let's avoid the financial district for now. Otherwise, i think these zones (Which were mentioned in the old post) - MTE, MTW, TS, CPS, ESB, MSG, Chelsea - are fair game. Also - let's avoid the Hudson Hotel :) Thanks for your help. Andrew.
  13. Hi Thereuare, Unfortunately the trip never happened :( We had to reschedule to the above dates - but it's a go now, and trying to find a good deal :) Any help is appreciated. Thanks! ANdrew.
  14. Just advising that this trip (unfortunately) never happened - and has been rescheduled - tickets booked - October 2014. Started a new priceline hotel thread. Thanks for your help during this thread. Andrew.
  15. Hello All, Been lurking on the site for a while - but decided to give priceline a try :) I'm looking for 3 nights at a 4* hotel in NYC. First Consideration: Price Second: Location (must be close/walking distance to sights). Anyone have any suggestions/bidding strategy to get the best deal? Not concerned about particular hotels - just the wife and I. Thanks! Andrew.
  16. Hi Thereuare! Thanks for your help. Regarding CPS - i'd prefer to avoid the hudson hotel :) Regarding MTE/Chelsea - the walking distance isn't a huge factor - so i'm good for these. The Row NYC for $153 doesn't seem like a bad deal - but if i can score something cheaper that meets my criteria - then i'd rather bid. Hopefully this helps :) Andrew.
  17. Hi Aaron, Thanks for the welcome :) I'm looking to see if I can keep the rate around $150/night. If i can't get this for a 4*, i'd rather downgrade the hotel then pay more (as long as it's clean, and a good location). I'm not that familiar with NYC, but looking at the map, i'd be happy with anything in Manhattan with the exception of the Financial District, and the Upper West/East side (looking for something more "central"). Ideally mid-town, time square, hells kitchen. Thanks for your help! Andrew.
  18. Hello! Please ignore the "Sofitel" comment above - i'm really looking to find the cheapest 4* hotel in an area with free wi-fi and close to subways/walking distant to attractions. Please help me out :) Andrew.
