  1. First bid of $24 received counter for $6 more. Added Beaches/Mayo and bid $25. Website rate is $59.99.
  2. This is a counteroffer and it almost always means you could win with a bid of 50% or less of the amount they want you to raise the bid. The only way to rebid otherwise is to use any rebid zones in the area. For instance I have been offered the chance to rebid immediately if I raised my bid $7, but I was successful adding another zone and bidding $1 more. See this thread. Still not bad considering the lowest website rate for your date is $62.99
  3. Same as before...counter for $6 more at $24 - website rate $59.99 Failed bids on 2* up to $27 with counter for $7 more. I suppose the Homestead Salisbury could be had for $28.
  4. First bid of $24 received counter for $6 more. Website rate is $59.99.
  5. I was just there for a conference Monday and Tuesday. Conference rate was $229 / website rate was $239. You will not be disappointed.
  6. I would start by seeing what Hotwire has in the areas you are looking for. Then check regular travel websites for prices in those areas to get a feel for rates. I did a quick check for Sarasota area on Hotwire and the rates are quite high (not surprising this time of year). Near beach -- 3.5* for $332 and 3* for $227.
  7. I would have tried bidding no more than half the counter amount. I have had bids accepted at $1 higher than a $7 counter offer. If you extrapolate that out it would be $3-$4 on a $22 counter. I'm not saying you would definately get accpted there but you can almost always get accepted for less than the counter. Of course the number of rebids you have will impact this strategy. If you don't have many or any you risk losing it altogether if you wait 24 hours. If have seen counters disappear a day later.
  8. Bids of $23 & $24 rejected today. Yesterday I got a $6 counteroffer at $23.
  9. Same story. Bid $27, got counter to raise bid $7, rebid $28 accepted. $28 x 2nts + $15.06 taxes & fees = $71.06 No luck on 2* for next week (3/27-3/31) with bids up to $36.
  10. First bid was $27 - got counteroffer to add $7. Refused, added Beaches/Mayo Clinic zone and bid $28. Best rate on hotel website is $88.99/nt for these dates! $28 x 4nts + $23.43 taxes & fees = $135.43 I'm quite certain I could have gotten the Southside location (1*) for $24-$25 but this one is much nicer.
  11. The stay was fine - exterior entry, room was decent, large desk, free high speed internet, continental breakfast included Note: This property is not yet on the Priceline Hotel List.
  12. My guess is that you are right. The Westin's website specfically notes tennis nearby. The lowest rate for the Mariott on your dates is $119 on their site. Why not try Priceline since no one has ever reported any other 4* hotels in that zone? In fact I know of someone that won the Westin on PL for $121 for 3/10-3/12.
  13. I have been bidding just about every day for over a week from $27 up to $37 before today. Today I was rejected at $30, $35 and $39. Time is not on my side so I upped my max today. 3 nts X $43 + 25.97 taxes & fees = $154.97 Website rate is $72/nt
  14. My experience has been just the opposite this week. On the Jacksonville Beach ofer I watched and ultimately bought, the price went higher as my travel date got nearer. In fact the one I got yesterday is $9/nt higher today. Of course prices can at any time. It is all based on occupancy levels.
  15. Well I sucked it up and gave it a go. I was right - Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort. The rate went back to $87 since my wife decided to make it 4 nights instead of 3 and so my dates are 3/10-3/14. Near Beach Property is located within easy walking distance of a beach. Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. Pool(s) Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal. Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Business Center Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply. Laundry Facilities Guests have access 4nts X $87 = $348 + Taxes and Fees $46.52 = $394.52
  16. The price is up to $89 now. My best guess is that this is the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort. Their website lists it as "near the beach", Travelocity"]Travelocity considers it a 3*, and the going rate is $101/nt (close to the $107 retail on Hotwire). I'm not sure I want this one for that price.
  17. For what it's worth - it says the savings is $20 off the retail rate of $107 or 19% off.
  18. I have been trying to figure out the same one for 3/10-3/13 - it is the same price for those 3 nights. It has to be very near the water, but not oceanfront. I have checked properties that come up on traditional travel sites, but I have not been able to narrow it down much. You can rule out those that serve a breakfast.
  19. This is the Skinner Lake Drive location - a new one for the list. Started at $23 and received counteroffer for $6 more. Added Beaches/Mayo and bid $24 - rejected with no counter. Added Amelia Island and bid $25 - accepted. Also noted that the Homestead website lists this one for $58.99/nt for these dates. Baymeadows location is $63.99/nt. Salisbury location is $104.99/nt. I will now have stayed in all three within a month.
  20. I don't necessarily have to be on the Southside of town. I will need a room for Mon-Thur nights for another month or two. Ended up with 1* for $25 (see separate topic).
  21. I was able to get the Homestead Studio Suites Salisbury in Jax South each of the last two weeks for $28 but was rejected for next week. The hotel has been quite full each night so it seems they haven't kicked any rooms to Priceline for next week. Bid $27 for Jax South, then added Beaches/Mayo and bid $28, then added Amelia Island and bid $30 - all rejected and no counters. :) Hotwire shows a 2.5* limited service hotel for $31 - this will be the Homestead Studio Suites on Baymeadows. I got that one 3 weeks ago for $30 on Hotwire. It is a 1* on Priceline and has been reported won for $24 in the past. I may try that route. The Salisbury property is much, much better.
  22. On the weekend, you may want to park on the street if you are comfortable with that. The last time I was there, the parking meters do not need to be fed after 6PM on Friday and all day Sat/Sun. Just a thought.
  23. Based on the desciption this could be the Amerisuites from Hotwire. It doesn't look like anyone has reported getting this hotel on Priceline on this site. But I saw a wining bid of $50 for this 2.5* property reported recently. Good luck.
  24. Failed bid $27...counteroffer for $7 more. Added Beach/Mayo Clinic then rebid $28 - accepted.
