  1. yea $95 is a decent price for a 5* property.
  2. yes it does seem like you could land a 3-4 star hotel easily for that price range however your stay falls on the weekend so might be higher. you could start bidding using north or south strip as a bid zone, select 4* then gradually add zones that do not have 4* properties for rebids, increasing your bid price also gradually.
  3. At most for trump is maybe $110 - $120. And I would gladly pay $130-$140ish for other 5*. it seems like rates are high for the weekend i am going though..this wont be easy.
  4. there's mixed reviews about PHT. check out trip advisor..they have some reviews.
  5. Hi guys, I'm bidding on a 5*, north or south strip is fine. Knowing that there are more than 10 rebid zones, i started with south then worked my way up to north strip. for north, my first bid was $79 then I got a counter for $134 for a *5 hotel. This seems to be a "good" rate as all the 5* hotels on HOTWIRE are pricey for my selected date. However, this could be the Trump or the Wynn. I have stayed the Trump and loved it but I dont want to pay so much for it. Plus no casino sucks. I saw a post that someone was also countered by PRICELINE and ended up with the Wynn - is this a possible case here?
  6. Is there no 5* property in San Francisco? I'd like to land the Mandarin Oriental or something comparable...please help.
  7. seems like MGM signature is still avail for $209...im thinking..
  8. wow you are right..been trying to bid from $170-180 and no luck...
  9. hi yellowdog, yes date is still same. i suppose I will try it and see what happens.
  10. i need to book another room at THEhotel...what strategy can i use to ensure i get it? is thehotel the only 5* in south strip?
  11. thanks :) I must say i'm quite pleased how this turned out.
  12. ended up using pricelinet Congratulations, your price of $170 was accepted by Thehotel for one night...4/18/09
  13. yes I would consider a lesser property...what would you recommend. i thought about booking the MGM signature but also felt it was priced too high and not a 5*. you might be correct something might be going, seeing 5* in $300's range even on hotwire.
  14. Hi guys, I've seen some really deals on here, just wondering why it's so hard for me? :) so far my search on hotwire has resulted in a 4.5* near strip east which is MGM Signature for $189/night. Ideally I want central strip (Wynn) for about $150. is this possible? also tried priceline, using all the tricks i know, zoning, and increasing my bid slowly, but no lucky. i did receive a counteroffer on pricely for $199 for a 5* north-central strip though.
  15. well after bidding on priceline for about 1 week (on strip only) i decided to zone out bid, and was successful... 16. I just noticed that the Westin is going for $205 on priceline...is it safe to say that if I bet $100-110 on a *4, I should be able to get the westin??
  17. hm yeah if the fight is going to be at the MGM, im sure it's going to be tough to get a room there...but regardless, I just want something nice and not overpay like last time (The Riviera $149/night!)
  18. I never went through with the purchase via priceline :)
  19. I initially bid $49, failed, so I rebid again...and got the westin at $56. This was a friday, so I believe I got a good rate! Lovely hotel and bedroom had a nice view. My gf loved it :) Oh, did I mention that I placed the bid the very afternoon of check-in? :) Your Offer Price: $56.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $56.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $15.40 Total Charges*: $71.40 Hotel: The Westin Los Angeles Airport 5400 West Century Blvd Los Angeles, California 90045 United States 310-216-5858 Check-In Date: Friday, March 23, 2007 Check-Out Date: Saturday, March 24, 2007
  20. So yeah this was my first official bid through priceline. The weekend of the 16th of March was March Madness/St. Patrick's Day, and hotel rates were extremely crazy. I'm VERY sure I overpaid for the Riviera, since the place sucked very badly. The pools closed down at 5 PM...when it was 90 degrees outside! I started bid at $120 for 3*, added zone and rebid at $149 and got this: 3 Star Upscale Hotel, Las Vegas Strip Vicinity Area Check-In Date: Friday, March 16, 2007 Check-Out Date: Sunday, March 18, 2007 Region: Las Vegas, NV City Area: Las Vegas Strip Vicinity Check-In Time: Guaranteed late night arrival Check-Out Time: Check-out times vary by hotel Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $149.00 Subtotal: $298.00 Taxes and Services Fees: $41.27 Total Charges*: $339.27
  21. hi dahammer, I ended up not using priceline, since I was traveling with a group of people (my class), we all had to stay together at a hotel they had already selected :) i paid a lot more than i should have!!
  22. for 5/5/07 - 5/6/07 I've started bidding since last week and no luck at all. I am trying to win the MGM Grand (4*...but after reading through here, I don't mind the Westin at all...) 5/5/07 is Cinco De Mayo so hotel rates thus far from Hotwire and other travel sites are ridiculously high. I've started bidding at $115, re-bidded at $130 (added zones w/o 4*) and still no luck. Please help! Budget is $115-$130...is this feasible? thanks!
  23. Thanks for the link, thereuare. I haven't tried bidding yet, just speculating right now.
  24. Also, should I start bidding ahead of time, or perhaps wait until I'm a few weeks near my departure date? Tim
