  1. The regular price on Hotwire is often a red herring. The George might have $215 as a regular price even if that price was actually based on another hotel. The easiest way to determine it's not The George in this case is the TripAdvisor rating, because George is 4.5/5 and 95% on Hotwire.
  2. I can see that Omni-looking offer at $122 now. On the Priceline Express side I see the Kimpton Palomar for $136.
  3. The Sofitel does appear on PRICELINE EXPRESS with a 9.0 guest rating. I can see it, for example, at $147 per night by searching for a 6/30 to 7/7 stay.
  4. I don't see that on Hotwire anymore, but my guess would be The Liaison Capitol Hill.
  5. The PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals section currently has what appears to be the Willard for $181 on those dates and the what looks like the Madison for $172. Kimpton Palomar may also listed there for $105. If you split the bid the Willard is $183 from 8/19-21 and the Sofitel appears for $163 from 8/21-23.
  6. It is the Loews. Sofitel Lafayette Square shows up with the same details except 9.0 Guest score. The Willard is rated 5-stars by Priceline.
  7. Aha, nice catch. I wonder how I missed that. I think both your corrections make sense. My confidence was misplaced in the Westin City Center because I forgot "Attraction Information powered by TripAdvisor" definitely doesn't mean "Star levels powered by TripAdvisor." If it's not the Grand Hyatt, a second match seems like the Washington Marriott at Metro Center.
  8. Seems like: 1. The Westin Washington, D.C. City Center (formerly Wyndham Washington) TripAdvisor ranked #95 of 126 hotels in Washington DC 2. The Liaison Capitol Hill, An Affinia Hotel TripAdvisor ranked #41 of 126 hotels in Washington DC While doing the search I noticed what might be the best value in a 3.5 star in Dupont Circle area for $106 that I suspect is the Kimpton Rouge.
  9. The only 5-star in the PRICELINE stable that I am aware of is the Willard. $140 may be on the exact low range of what they might release for one or two nights, but that's very optimistic. I would suggest you look at the Loews Madison and the Sofitel Lafayette Square at 4.5 stars to see if they meet your standards, because they are far more likely to be available at and below $140, the Madison in particular. Edit: just noticed Priceline considers Sofitel and Madison 4-star hotels, so it would actually be very difficult to target them with NYOP because of all the other 4-stars nearby. I've definitely seen them listed as 4.5 star options in the Express Deal opaque section, however.
  10. Marriott Wardman Park has a 7.9 guest rating, but your listing is a match for the Dupont Circle Hotel. Marriott Wardman Park only offers free internet in the lobby, is that what PRICELINE advertises as "free internet" now?
  11. I have no idea how bidding so far in advance would affect things, but Priceline wins for a 4-star hotel in Dupont Circle area are often Marriott Wardman Park or the Renaissance Mayflower. Less often but definitely possible include Washington Hilton, Omni Shoreham, Kimpton Palomar and The Dupont Circle Hotel. Edit: oops, you were specifically inquiring about Hotwire. Of course that isn't strictly "bidding," and you should be able to determine the exact hotel with the proper sleuthing. It's worth noting that the Renaissance Mayflower is in the White House zone on Hotwire, not the Dupont Circle zone.
  12. My guess is the Marriott Wardman Park. You probably can't get that rate booking directly, but lower rates have definitely been had at that property with Name Your Own Price bids.
  13. Note that College Park-Beltsville and Silver Spring aren't anywhere near the metro. The cheapest rates that are on the metro are likely to be in Pentagon/Crystal City area. Within Washington itself there are some PRICELINE hotels like the Mayflower, Marriott Wardman Park and others that are very convenient to the metro. Most of the other hotels within Washington will still be convenient to a busline, however. The current best Priceline Express Deal for your dates and criteria is a 3.5 star in Dupont Circle for $113 per night that I believe is The Embassy Row Hotel. It is less than a block from the Dupont Circle metro. There is also a 3-star in Crystal City for $68 per night that I believe is the Holiday Inn National Airport / Crystal City, a 0.8 mile, 16 minute walk from the metro. Edit: upon checking HOTWIRE, I would recommend targeting something like the 4-star Dupont Circle-National Zoo hotel with 95% Hotwire recommended rating for $108 per night. It is the Kimpton Palomar from what I can tell, and it is just two blocks from the Dupont Circle metro.
  14. I'm guessing it wasn't the Park Hyatt since it doesn't mention "Pool" in the amenities. I think it's the Renaissance Washington DC Dupont Circle Hotel, which, despite the name, does seem to be located in Priceline's Foggy Bottom area.
