  1. Are you suggesting Hotwire as a better option since we will require 2 beds?
  2. Just thought I'd let you know my (lack of) success so far...and any help you could give on how to proceed would be most appreciated. Opened browser to savings barn.com and clicked on PRICELINE link (is this correct way to do this?) Selected 4* MTW bid $120 -rejected re-bid adding zone 1-(UES) $150-rejected Closed browser and reopened via savings barn, etc Selected 4* MTW and re-bid zone2- (UWS) $155-rejected re-bid adding zone 1 (UES)- $160 and rejected Closed browser and re-accessed priceline as above. Selected 4*UM/CPS bid $150- rejected re-bid adding zone 1-(UES) $160-rejected Closed browser and re-accessed as above Selected 4* UM/CPS bid adding zone 2-(UWS)-$165-rejected re-bid adding zone 1 (UES)- $170 and rejected Closed browser and re-accessed as above Selected 4* MTW and UM/CPS bid $175-rejected re-bid adding zone 1 (UES)- $185 and rejected Closed browser and re-accessed as above Selected 4* MTW and UM/CPS re-bid with zone1 and 2-(UWS)-$195-rejected Can I start over with 3* and begin at a lower price point, or am I now "in it" for $195 no matter what *level I bid? I haven't received the notice from priceline that I have to wait 72 hours yet in my bids....so, do I have to wait 72 hours to try 3* at a lower price? Thanks for the help (again!)
  3. Am once again trying to bid on hotels in NYC for our trip 7/26-7/29. Have seen some successful bids here, and was hoping to get your strategy for these dates. Would prefer 3 or 4* MTW then UM/CPS. Am willing to go up to $200/night-MTW choice 1st, then move to UM/CPS. We are 3 people and will need 2 double or Queen beds and have noticed several properties do not have this option. Any advice/strategy? Thanks again!!!
  4. An update on my unsucessful bidding thus far: added 2.5*KC Country Club $40 rejected added KC North $45 " " KC West $48 " " Leavenworth $50 rejected " Liberty $52 " " Olathe $55 " " Shawnee $58 " " Stadium $60 " Not looking good now.... any suggestions?
  5. OK, thanks! Dates of stay: 4/12-4/15 I'm trying for a 3* bid CC Plaza $50-rejected bid CC Plaza and KC South $55-rejected bid added KC West $55-rejected Don't want to go higher $, so I presume (based on previous posts) I should close the browser and begin again with 2.5* I figure I'll bid CC Plaza $50 and hope that'll do it (presumably that will be the Marriott Couryard. Any idea if Priceline has Holiday Inn Express in their "opague" inventory? Does this strategy seem sound? THANX!
  6. Is the hotel list for KC listed (posted 2003) accurate or have there been any changes that you know of?
  7. I decided not to go on the trip after it looked like it was going to be too steep. Thanks for the help and ideas!
  8. Your idea seems simple and to the point. What would you suggest I do first? .................................................................. "i think a better approach would be to accept any 3* hotel in MTW or UM/CPS up to $150... then if that is rejected accept any 4* hotel in the MTE, MTW, or UM/CPS zone up to $200."
  9. Am willing to go to $200 for MTW 4* and $150 for 3* there Same for UM/CPS Would go up to $150 in ME 4* but not go for a 3* in that zone Would like to try for a 3* first in MTW (any ideas what hotels are being successfully bid on lately?), then the same for UM/CPS (up to $150). Then 4* for MTE (up to $150) then 4* MTW and then 4* UM/CPS (up to $200). THANKS!
  10. Thanks for the response! I would prefer bidding at the 4* and then go to the 3*level and keep to the most central location as possible. I can go up to $200 but would prefer the $150 price point.
  11. am trying to book a last minute trip for myself and my daughter and would like to ask a bidding strategy on priceline. Would love to stay at the Hilton (Midtown West zone) as I have stayed there in the past ($99 years ago pre-9/11) but would consider any 3* or 4* in that or a nearby area. Would love to stay in the $150/night range. Any ideas? THANK YOU!!
  12. :) Thanks to the advice gained here, I bid $85 on 4* Copley Sq on priceline and got the Fairmont, Copley Sqare!!! Emailed the hotel, and they responded in less than 24 hours that they would accomodate my 2 additional requests: 2 beds and non smoking room! Thanks for the help!
  13. how did you bid on priceline for a particular hotel and not just a location? sorry if I'm dense..just trying to navigate thru all the info on here!
  14. Am trying to decipher what hotel probabilities are for hotwire 3.5-4* in Copley Square area of Boston recently. Am trying to keep it at or below $150. Need 2 beds (my son and myself on a college visiting trip) Feb 21-25. Any help would be appreciated.
