  1. I am at the hotel now, and noticed that the TV shows a credit (payment from Priceline) of EUR 72, which converts to USD 106. It would appear that Priceline essentially sold the hotel for $1 profit. I'm not sure how the $22 offer to raise my $85 bid without changing any parameters is triggered, but am a bit surprised that PL wouldn't have initially tried to make more profit than this. With counter-offers I've been able to win for slightly less than their suggestion, but in this case I'm not sure if they would have suggested a higher rate if, for say, my bid was initially $100. Would they have tried to ask for $6 or possible more, since mentally it would have made me feel as if the margin to a win would have been marginally higher than the initial bid.
  2. First bid @ $85 with offer to raise $22 and resubmit. With both limited time and limited rebid zones, I went ahead and bid $107 and won the Crown Plaza. The nearest price comparison was on Hotwire at $119. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$107.00 Subtotal: US$107.00 Taxes & Service Fees: US$22.14 Total Charges: US$129.14
  3. My preferred zone was Waikiki Beach; however, most hotels in this zone were already sold out and were not biting on Priceline. Decided to go with Hotwire and use the "Customer Favorite" in Waikiki North. Historical confirmation amenities*: Oceanfront Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Spa Services *Note that these amenities are from my historical confirmation, and may not reflect the actual amenities I saw when bidding. I've posted this historical win for reference purposes. Please see my cross-post under Priceline for 11/28-12/2.
  4. Tried for a Resort* in the Waikiki Beach zone and bid up to $162 without success. Moved to 4* Marina and this was accepted on my first bid. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $130.00 Subtotal: $520.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $79.25 Total Charges*: $599.25
  5. Started at $135 - rejected w/offer to raise $22. Abandoned. Rebid $140 - rejected w/same offer to raise $22. Abandoned. Rebid $145 - rejected w/no offer Rebid $150 - accepted at the Hyatt Regency Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $150.00 Subtotal: $300.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $48.55 Total Charges*: $348.55
  6. Holiday Inn, Residence, etc. would be pushing it for a 3*. Based on my limited observations (as I am more of a PL person) would it be safe to assume that one would drop at least .5* or 1* to Hotwire's ratings? They appear to be overrated.
  7. Curious if you're using IE or Firefox? I recently switched to Firefox because it's much faster on my PC, but I haven't yet verified if it is causing the prices to return differently (or compares.)
  8. Looks like the boundaries are a bit different than the hotel lists, but I haven't seen these amenities: For 2/22/06 - 2/24/06, coming up as $84. Airport Shuttle Complimentary Breakfast (continental or full) Pool(s) High-speed Internet Access (in guestrooms) Business Center Laundry Facilities (coin operated) Any idea what this would be? Retail price allegedly $239, 65% savings.
  9. Started bid at $46, rejected Rebid at $48, rejected Rebid at $50, rejected Rebid at $52, accepted at Hilton Costa Mesa I am at the hotel now. It's fluctuated between 3* and 4* over the years on PL's list. I'd rate as a high 3* but not quite 4*. They do a lot of meetings and conventions and the elevators are painfully slow. Starbuck's kiosk in the lobby which is great. Parking is $14/self park and $17 valet, and internet is $12.95/day. I wish I could have bid on those as well! Have a room on the 4th floor without balcony as I believe they begin on the 5th floor. I don't mind, but would much prefer if the windows at least opened as I really like fresh air. No PL attitude or mention at check-in. Overall I am pleased and would bid this again without hesitation. In fact, I need to rebid again next week, but may first try and save some more on a 3*. Your Offer Price: $52.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $104.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $20.01 Total Charges: $124.01
  10. First bid @ $46, rejected with prompt I could resubmit by raising $13. Abandoned. New bid @ $49, rejected Rebid @ $52, accepted at Westin, ATL Airport Your Offer Price: $52.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $52.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.71 Total Charges: $66.71
