Started with $50 bid in Novi, not accepted
Added Belleville as a free re-bid and put the price to $55....got the Doubletree.
Got this from bidding on PRICELINE...forgot to post it up here.
Just wanted to say that the $53 / night was actually in Canadian Dollars. This is a change from past Priceline bids where they usually charged me in US$. So in fact, it was not appropriate of me to "complain" about the price going up, as the difference is close to the current exchange rate difference.
I wanted to clarify this point. It is possible that Priceline is doing a currency conversion automatically, which I do not like, but that is a separate issue.
Long story short...
Looking for a hotel stay in the area - selected between Troy, Auburn Hills and Bloomfield Hills.
Through free rebidding - ended up with the Radisson Hotel on Woodward for $53 a night.
The past 4 years, I have enjoyed stays ranging between $43 to $47 a night. I'm hoping that the price is not a permanent increase, as this is basically a 10+% jump since my last stay in the area back in May.
Bid through the following:
1) Auburn Hills - $40
2) Auburn Hills + Troy - $42
3) Auburn Hills + Roseville - $44
Got the Courtyard in Pontiac. Been there many times. It's a standard hotel.
Went in bidding (fishing) for a 3* place at $42 in the Auburn Hills / Troy / Bloomfield Heights areas.
After a few rebids:
- AH - $42
- Tr - $42
- BH - $42
- AH & Tr - $44
- AH & BH - $46
I was successful in getting the Marriott for $46. I have stayed here once in the past, coincidentally it was also for the Thanksgiving weekend. Neighbourhood has nothing...but hey, it's for Black Friday shopping, I won't be in the hotel.
I used the PRICELINE link to bid.
Was originally fishing for Troy or Auburn Hills, but through bidding, that area was up to $48. I changed it up and started bidding in the Novi / Livonia area.
Started from $40 in the area and through the free rebidding, went up to $46 and got the HGI in Novi.
Reviews say it is a good hotel and it is in a decent area quite close to Twelve Oaks. I know the area, so it's not too foreign to me.
I used the PRICELINE link on this site for my bidding.
Went with historical pricing of $42 in the Auburn Hills area and it just accepted it and gave me the Courtyard at Pontiac.
I've stayed here many times...not the best hotel, but hey, who can argue with $42 for the 4th of July holiday.
Used the PRICELINE link from this website.
Bid up from $40 in through the areas (Livonia, Novi, Canton, Farmington, Plymouth).
Long story short...$46 was bid on Livonia + Novi 3*. Got this Courtyard on the 8th rebid.
Kept using the PRICELINE link on this website on each bid attempt.
BTW, first time posting up on this site, hope I am posting to the standard...great site. Thanks for the database of information.
3.5* Ottawa - Hull (Hull) Crowne Plaza Gatineau-Ottawa Plz Chaudiere
in Priceline Hotels - Canada

I had originally thought that I would go for Ottawa, but Hull is "slightly" less expensive so I started bidding on the Hull side. I used the free rebids , but started too low because I was reading the USD instead of CAD. In any case, I just bid up from $115 by $5 and hit it at $130 (CAD).
The PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for this hotel was at $136, so if this one did not go, I would have just selected the Express Deal and be done with it.
