  1. Thanks Blueskies. Just signed up for Hilton Honours, and I'll take all the Pricveline details with me.
  2. OK! Success and huge thanks to thereuare. Here's the story. First, I got past credit card page by using tips on the priceline Canada page - used full address, but fake state (CA) and zip (99999). Then bids as follows: Selected 4* UM/CPS: Bid $120; rejected, added UWS as re-bid zone Bid $130; rejected, added UES as further re-bid zone Bid $140; rejected & closed browser. Next, select 4* MTW: Bid $105; rejected, added UWS as re-bid zone Bid $110; rejected, added UES as further re-bid zone Bid $115; rejected & closed browser. Next, selected 4* MTW and UM/CPS and bid $120 successfully: Hilton New York, 1335 Avenue Of The Americas. Many thanks again t-u-a. A final question: I don't have a printer; do I just need credit card, ID and priceline confirmation number to check-in?
  3. Having some difficulty getting past the credit card page - the form either wants a US zip code (I live in Glasgow, Scotland, UK) and/or will accept only London-based (i.e. beginning 020) telephone numbers - mine is (+44) (0) 141 ... I tried to get to NYC hotels from the .co.uk priceline site, but that allows searches only of European locations. Am I doing something particularly stupid? Sorry to be such a pest.
  4. I do appreciate your patience thereuare. My prioirty is location - and I'm prepared therefore to pay extra for (e.g) CPS.
  5. OK. Firm plans now for 4 nights, 2/23 (checkout 2/27). Preferences as before. Ready to bid. Thanks again.
  6. Need two nights accommodation 2/23-2/25. Want to stay in 4* (or better), and can go to $150-160 per night. Preferred areas, in order of preference: UWS UES Upper midtown, Central Pk south Midtown West Midtown South Midtown East Downtown, etc. First-time bidder, so would much appreciate help. Thanks in advance.
  7. Thanks - am now being accommodated by the firm, so no need to book myself. Thanks again!
  8. T-u newbie. I'll be in Boston 19 - 25 February and want to stay in 5* or 4* accom in central Boston. Flexible budget, but (nacth) lower priced the better. Very grateful for any help.
  9. OK. Now I see - thanks! It's clear to me now (finally!) that we have to be prepared to move hotels on 4/11. Let's assume we are; may I then seek your advice on bidding? Is $200 per room per night likely to secure us 4* accom in midtown? V grateful for your continued help on this thereuare.
  10. Any idea of this Hotwire offer? Details for your 4-star hotel in Quincy Market - Financial District $86/night, down from $136. Facilities: Restaurant(s) Fitness Center High-speed Internet Access Business Center
  11. Oh dear! Have I misread the likely bid required? I'd thought that a $200 (+ a little) might get a room in a 4* midtown (and so for the two rooms we need we'd reckon on $400+), but should I take it from your reply that there's no chance at that price? If so, what would we need to reckon on paying?
  12. Thanks thereuare (sorry bbbb for the ambiguity in my post). Anyway, you're right - we need 2 rooms for 4 nights, and 1 for 3. Some points: - we'll pay @$200 per room per night, though might go a little further. - we'd like 4* rating in Midtown (I've stayed in the Sofitel several times and we'd love that, but their rack rates are prohibitive in light of our need for a second room); - v much prefer not to change rooms after the 4th night (but can see how that would work). Many thanks indeed for your help.
  13. In NYC for 7 April to 14 April with partner and her son; keen to get a deal, and think this site offers the best help (so thanks!). BUT ... son is returning on 11 April - so we need 2 rooms for 4 nights, and just one room for the remaining 3. Can we bid in these circumstances?
