  1. For the above-referenced dates, it shows the following (my guesses are in brackets): Downtown >4* - Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Spa *CUSTOMER FAVORITE* - $79 [sheraton Centre?] Airport YYZ >4* - Shuttle, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Spa - $76 [sheraton Gateway?] >3.5* - Shuttle, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Internet, Golf - $69 [Wyndham Bristol Place?] Are my guesses close? Any help is appreciated.
  2. Since there was only one available area, I had to make offers on consecutive days. Started off at $100USD, then my offer of $125 was countered with $22 more. Finally bid $139USD today and won. Website lists the room at $259CAD ($239USD), $300CAD all in ($266USD) Marriott Victoria Inner Harbor 728 Humboldt Street Victoria, British Columbia V8W 3Z5 250-480-3800 Check-In Date: Thursday, July 6, 2006 Check-Out Date: Friday, July 7, 2006 Your Offer Price: $139.00 (US dollars) Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $139.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $32.45 (US dollars) Total Charges: $171.45 (US dollars)
  3. Well, as a quick follow up, the Adam's Mark is most definitely NOT worthy of 3* status. When I have time I will post a full review, but in short.... WELCOME TO THE 70's!
  4. Well, at least someone else knows how I feel :) But you're right... that's totally surprising that that price is available the night of the race. Lower than expected turnout?
  5. Crap, yet not so crap? I won on my first bid of $40, which totally surprised me. I'm happy with the price... but at the same time I feel like I overbid! :) Your Offer Price: $40.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.33 Total Charges: $53.33 Hotwire showed a mystery 3* at IND for $45++, and the cheapest rate on adamsmark.com was $83+ (govt).
  6. A very odd thing happened. I initially offered $17 for a midsize. That was turned down, and a counter offer of $25 was presented. Of course I said no, so I added a standard and upped the price to $20.... and it was accepted by Avis! Your Offer Price: $20.00 Total Rental Days: 1 Subtotal: $20.00 Taxes & Fees: $9.63 Total Charges: $29.63 Same dates/times/class from Avis = $53++ = $70.55 total. I had a Monte Carlo from Avis just a couple days ago, and I love it (for a rental car)!
  7. Looking to stay in a 4* in Victoria on 07/06/06. There's only one zone available! So I guess it's one shot, then wait. Right now, it says the median price for a 4* is $175. Marriott is showing $239 and above for the Victoria Marriott Inner Harbour. Not that this matters, but the little "Based on recent data..." box disappears between $81-82. My first inclination is to bid $90. If someone knows the historical prices for July, that would be great!
  8. First bid of $65 was rejected. Used 3 rebid zones ($85, $105) until $115 was accepted. Big leaps, I know, but I'm happy with the price... just wanted to give people a heads up on how high the rates are during this time period. Hyatt.com listed the room for $289CAD/~$259USD Congratulations, you got your price of $115 for a 4-star hotel room. Hyatt Regency Vancouver Vancouver (Downtown) 655 Burrard Street Vancouver, British Columbia V6C 2R7 604-683-1234 Check-In Date: Wednesday, July 5, 2006 Check-Out Date: Thursday, July 6, 2006 Your Offer Price: $115.00 (US dollars) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $115.00 (US dollars) Taxes & Service Fees: $27.93 (US dollars) Total Charges: $142.93 (US dollars)
  9. Hey now... a "stranger" who knows what I'm doing?! :) You freaked me out a little... I had to go check that I was in the right city on the right day. BTW, my overnight STL MR is May 20th. :)
  10. First bid of $35 was rejected. Re-bid in $5 increments until accepted at $50. Best rate on amerisuites.com was $58+ (AAA rate). It's alright I guess... but MCI's pricier than expected... is there something going on there that weekend? FWIW - HW was offering a similar-sounding room for $63++. ----------------------------------------------------- Congratulations, you got your price of $50 for a 2
  11. Well, I need another 1 night stay for the same weekend, but on Friday May 26. I suppose I'll use those free rebids (Northwest, Speedway, and South don't have 3*), and PL has the Marriott (North) for $109 that night. What should be my starting bid?
  12. Indianapolis (North - Fishers) 3* Wyndham Hotel Indianapolis For 1 night, 5/29/2006 $90 --------------------------------- Well, I guess I was very bad and might have bid too high! But let me explain. I won on my first bid of $90. (D'oh!) BUT here's why I bid so high: --Wyndham.com showing $139+ or $118+ prepaid. --It's Memorial Day/Indy 500 weekend! --I unsuccessfully bid up to $130 for a 3* by the airport. --NOTHING available on HW (except for a 2* in Plainfield with bad reviews). --Figured $90 was actually a safe (low) starting point, and I was getting frustrated anyway. So in the end, while I probably could've knocked down the price a little, I'm still happy getting a good rate on that weekend. And in the end, isn't that all that matters? :)
  13. With the Memorial Day Holiday AND the Indy 500, is it safe to assume that PL and HW will be useless? Has anyone succeeded in winning bids on this weekend, this year or past years? Am I hosed? :)
  14. I successfully booked a 3* for 1 night (1/26/06) with the listed amenities: Restaurant; Pool; Fitness Center; High-Speed Internet Ended up $52 + tax/fees = $65.80. Cheapest rate on the Doubletree website was $149/night. Submitted my Paypal payment, and up comes the Doubletree - Gateway Village. I'm a huge fan of the Doubletree, so pretty stoked. FWIW, I tried PL, and final rejected bid was $50 for a 3*, after 5 rebids starting at $43. I stopped because due to different fees, the Hotwire and PL prices equalized at that point. First time posting, so please let me know if I'm missing anything! Thank you!
