  1. I've tried to "Name My Own Price" for both these destinations and the search doesn't work. I thought all the Priceline destinations were available for bidding. Is this not the case?
  2. Thanks. I'd really prefer a North Strip hotel like the Wynn Encore or Bellagio and they've got reasonable promotions comparable to Hotwire so will probably book direct this time.
  3. Hi Sorry if this has been explained before. I'm looking for a 5* non-Trump Strip hotel. As most of these including the Trump are in the North Strip would the only way to avoid the Trump be to bid for the South Strip and hopefully get the TheHotel at Mandalay Bay which is the only 5* in the list?
  4. No, the agency I used is not on your list - not sure whether it's appropriate to post details.
  5. I finally booked through an alternative booking site. I was keen to get the Sheraton Centre which was risky with HOTWIRE and I found a good deal. I'm very grateful for all the help with my bookings which comprise HOTWIRE/Priceline / HOTWIRE / external booking site for the four legs of my trip.
  6. I've just got them both up again in Mozilla Firefox and Opera, both the 4* West and East are showing but the East is $1 more expensive in Opera!! The prices seem to be generally moving upwards although there was a fall a few days ago. Is it usual for them to move higher nearer the check in date, or increase at the weekends in line with demand?
  7. I am still seeing both in a new Internet Explorer browser but only the EAST in the Betterbidding HOTWIRE link! I have noticed the site is a bit strange in that it sometimes shows no hotels or the wrong ones. Were you looking in Explorer if that makes a difference? Is the Intercontinental comparable to the Sheraton or Westin? The pools and spa are important to us.
  8. Hi I've read previously that the current 4* Hotwire offerings for my dates are likely to be the Sheraton Centre (West) or the Westin Harbourside (East) which both look good (any comments would be helpful to a first time visitor). Current amenities are: West - Fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, high speed internet, spa. TA rating 4/5 $179 night, room for 4 adults East - No Smoking, Fitness, pool, restaurant, high speed internet, golf, tennis. TA rating 4/5 $145 night, room for 4 adults The listings for Toronto give many other possibilities but are these still likely to be the Sheraton and Westin? If not are the other possibilities all safe bets? Thanks.
  9. The tax recovery charges and fees added were only $42.85 which seems to be the expected tax only. Maybe it was a temporary blip in the system! I have added fox-obel.com to my itinerary! Thanks again.
  10. I won the W Chicago Lakeshore. Booked using the HOTWIRE link. 9/7 - 9/10 $94/night, $324 total for 3 nights, room for 4 adults Amenities: Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Spa Services 3.5 out of 5 Tripadvisor rating Thanks for all the help to get the hotel I finally chose.
  11. Just booked the W Lakeshore (using the HOTWIRE link). Think my girls will like it. It had gone down to $94 a night for 4 so pretty pleased. I'll post tomorrow - it's very late here!
  12. That option has already gone!! I now only have one choice a 4* without a pool (which we want). They certainly come and go quickly! I suppose the TA ratings only show when they're favourable.
  13. I do make sure I enter 4 ADULTS in the Hotwire booking but wanted to make sure I was comparing like for like with external booking agencies e.g. The Embassy Suites are advertised for similar prices to a similar standard HOTWIRE offering but that's for a suite with one bed and pull out couch. The two-bed option is nearly double the price. So if that's all HOTWIRE guarantee it might not be such a saving. I would like suggestions of what the $89 3* Mag Mile Streeterville might be? Thanks.
  14. Reading this I think it would be better to go for the Magnificent Mile area for a short first visit. Is it possible that the $89 3* Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet (no TA rating) might be the Doubletree? If so do HOTWIRE have to allocate four adults a two bedded room or can they give you a suite with one bed and pull out couch?
  15. No, the 4* now showing for 9/7-9/10 in North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast is now $113 (for 4) Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Hi-Speed Internet, Spa 3.5 out of 5 on Tripadvisor There is a 3.5* 3.5-star hotel in North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast for $117 Boutique, Fitness, Restaurant, Business Center, Hi-Speed Internet, Golf, Tennis, Spa no Tripadvisor rating
  16. I'm still researching these but out of interest can you identify this - 4* in North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast - $109 Amenities : Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center, High-speed Internet Access is likely to be. It says 3.5 out of 5 Tripadvisor rating. This is for 9/7 - 9/10 for a room for 4. It looks as if someone got this for the Avenue Hotel but said it didn't have a Tripadvisor rating.
  17. Yes it was a 2* and for info. they replied to my query about room sizes: "Thank you for contacting Baymont Inn and Suites Reservations regarding your request. There are two different suites available. One has a one king size bed with a whirlpool. This will only allow 2 people, there is no sofa beds or pull out beds. The second suite has a one king size bed with a pull out couch along with a microwave and a refrigerator. This is one large room with the bed on side of the room and an area with the sitting area with the couch that pulls out." Hopefully this means that I can request the second type of suite. Thanks for all the help.
  18. This was for four adults. Amenities: Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Center Hi-Speed Internet Booked using the HOTWIRE link. Many thanks for the amenities' information.
  19. I've just won the Baymont Hotel & Suites, Mt Pleasant, MI for $55. Used the PRICELINE link. As we're a party of four adults should I rebid for a second room or contact the hotel to see what room they've allocated us and if necessary upgrade to a suite?
  20. This price is around what I'd like to pay and this looks a good deal. Is it identifiable? The only problem our "kids" are in their twenties! Does that mean the accommodation would be unsuitable as when I search for 4 adults this hotel isn't listed. Re Priceline, presumably if the room's small the hotel would charge full rack rates to upgrade to a 4 bed or suite? Thanks.
  21. I need to book three nights in the Mount Pleasant, MI area 09/10 - 09/13. There is only one zone and only a choice of 1 or 2* so not much flexibility. Priceline's prices seem quite high for the area/rating, $81 upwards for 2*. What should I start my bid at? Hotwire don't offer Mount Pleasant, only Midland with only one 3* hotel at $104. Thanks.
  22. Many apologies. I have updated all these and also changed my email settings to instant notification! Thanks if you can help.
  23. My son panicked and found a reasonable deal with Quikbook - $199 nt. Thanks for all the help.
  24. I had to book a fully cancellable all-inclusive deal (Almond Casuarina Beach -
