4* SLOPESIDE RESORT showed up today with NO RESORT FEE and a nightly price well under $200. I snagged it in a hurry. Turns out it was a mistake by the hotel, they forgot to notify Hotwire of the resort fee, so Hotwire ate the cost of the resort fee for me when I called them. I'd been to the hotel web site once I learned which one it was, and they actually DO charge one, they just hadn't included it as a warning before you book. So I got The Lodge at Vail for 2 nights in the heart of Vail Village for $178 and no resort fee and it's still ski season with great snow in Vail finally. Thank you Hotwire and Better bidding! Only rooms available for the resort on Expedia and at the hotel were $337. I've been scouring the site and can't find ANY 3.5* Hotwire Vail hotels mentioned ever. One is showing up with the following amenities: Date 4/3-5/2013 Vail, CO $194 90% recommend Amenities: Free Breakfast Slopeside Fitness Center Pool(s) High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Details page says there is "a fee of about $35" says "only 6 rooms left" Do you think it's one that's new or perhaps the "rock resort lodge at Vail" has been downgraded from 4* to 3.5*? I was thinking it could be Vail Mountain Lodge if it's a new participating hotel, but then they Vail Mtn Lodge doesn't have a pool so it can't be them. Intrigued by free breakfast because none of the ones listed as 4* on your list do free breakfast that I know of. Playing with online tools I can only identify these slopeside free breakfast hotels with pools: Sonnenalp, manor vail, evergreen lodge, sitzmark, The Wren, Mountain House at Covered Bridge, Austria House. By the way, there's also one for $194 that's 4.5* on same dates which I assume is Sebastian. I may just book that since it's same price, but curious about the 3.5* listed because some of the ones I think it could be have in=room fireplaces, and Sebastian does not.
