How could no one mention Spumoni Gardens in Gravesend/Bensonhurst Brooklyn? Taken the N train to Avenue U. Also Totonno's is good, but I do not know if they have recovered from hurricane Sandy yet. It is near the Neptune Ave. stop on the F train in Coney Island.

I also want to throw in "Max's TriBeCa" on Duane St. and Greenwich. Very good and priced normally, it is the good too lunch place in my office. Also, head into the Goldman Alley area, there are some great new restaurants and a shake shack.

Apologies in advance but I booked this before I knew about this forum. However, I noticed this hotel hasn't been mentioned or on a hotwire list. I blindly took this hotel because I didn't want to stay at a dump and also needed to be close to the Olympic Center. Was hoping for the Crowne Plaza but instead got the Northwoods Inn Lake Placid. The day after I booked I called the hotel front desk to see which kind of room I received and was pleasantly surprised that it was a King with a tempurpedic mattress. I asked if the room was in a quiet part of the hotel (based on a review search of the hotel) and he said I could be moved to a corner room with a partial lake view but unfortunately could not get placed on a higher floor due to the type of room I booked. I was happy that I had the option to negotiate the room and its location for paying below the $159 asking price (though I will point out that if you do a Kayak search they do have the same room for $119).
