  1. Booked a room using priceline (from the savingsbarn link). I was looking for a 3* room in the Dallas Love Field area. Based on the wins that I saw in this zone on betterbidding, I bid $40. It was accepted (which made me wish that I had bid lower). Sheraton Suites Market Center 2101 Stemmons Freeway,Dallas, TX 75207 The total (including taxes and fees) came to $99 for two days. The rack rate for this hotel on Expedia is $99. This website is wonderful as usual.
  2. Sorry. Didnt realize that there are two Courtyards in Galleria. Courtyard By Marriott Addison Quorum Galleria - Dallas North 15160 Quorum Drive Addison, Texas 75001 972-404-1555
  3. I travelled to Dallas last week to meet a friend. I bid on priceline for a 2.5* and got Courtyard by Marriot for $50. The hotel was excellent and I was given a room on the 7th floor with an excellent view. I really loved my room and the stay was great. I used the savingsbarn link to get to priceline.
  4. One of my friends has booked a room in the hotel below: AmeriSuites Dallas / Galleria 5229 Spring Valley Road, Dallas, TX 75240 It is for the dates 1/12/07 and 1/14/07. I want to book my room in the same hotel for that time period. Is there a way I can do that? Please advise.
  5. The amenities for this hotel on hotwire are: Airport Shuttle Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access And I used the savingsbarn link to get to Hotwire!
  6. I had always used priceline for booking hotels. This is the first time I booked thru hotwire. I booked a room at the midtown Albuquerque for $30. With taxes and fees, it came out to $35. Since we are basically use the room for the night, we didnt care much about getting a great hotel but this hotel has a heated pool, free wireless internet and free breakfast.
  7. I went to Austin for the weekend with my girl friend. I looked for a 2* hotel and was flexible with the location. I started with $25 and increased the bid by $2 everytime along with a new re-bid zone. 1st zone - $25 - Rejected Added zone 2 - $27 - Rejected Added zone 3 - $29 - Rejected Added zone 4 - $31 - Rejected - counter offer with an increase of $8 Added zone 5 - $33 - Rejected - counter offer with an increase of $9 Added zone 6 - $35 - Accepted. I got the Extended Stay America in the NW Arboretum area. The hotel was some ways off from the downtown area and there are no restaurants nearby. We anyway wanted to spend the night downtown and so drove down there. The lady in the reception desk was extremely polite and helpful and the room was neat but the bed was way too small for two people. They didnt have shampoos in the bathroom just a couple of bar of soaps and no tissues. They had a kitchen with a microwave and a full size fridge. They had put up a sign that they will clean the room and do the beds only once a week. I guess I wouldnt prefer staying more than a night here. The hotel was good but I'm not sure I would prefer staying there again just because of the distance from down town and also because of the rooms. The rooms were going for $80 on their website and so I guess i got a good deal. And yes I used the savingsbarn link to get to priceline.
  8. Planned to go to Dallas with my gf for the labor day weekend. We wanted atleast a 3* room near the downtown area. I used priceline and bid $30 for the Dallas Love field zone. Priceline made a counteroffer for $8 more. Added another re-bid zone and bid $33. The price was accepted! Radisson Hotel Dallas Love Field Your Offer Price: $33.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $33.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.98 Total Charges*: $44.98 I checked the price for this hotel in the Radisson website and the cheapest room came to $90 with taxes. So we booked this hotel for half the price. All because of the help and guidance from your wonderful website. Kepp up the great work!!
  9. We had a great time in the Renaissance hotel! We reached the hotel around 2pm and checked in right away. We requested for a room on the upper floors, non-smoking and a king size bed. They gave us such a room right away and even let us occupy our room an hour early! We never got any attitude from them for booking the room thru priceline (I have seen that in some hotels when i booked thru priceline). The hotel was fabulous. We had a great view from our room on floor 23. The jacuzzi and swimming pool on floor 28 had one of the nicest views of the down town. All the attractions were nearby (though the climb back to the hotel was a bit hard considering that it was on the top of a hill but we burnt calories!) and we had a great time. They even served us a free hot chocolate every morning along with the day's newspaper. During checkout they even tried to take off the $1 charge we had incurred for calling a local number. Overall this hotel is great and treats priceliners very well. I would definitely stay at this hotel again!
  10. Me and my girlfriend decided to go to Seattle for the 4th of July weekend. All the hotels for this weekend seemed expensive on other websites. Tried Priceline (thru the savingsbarn link of course) and made a cheat sheet of all star categories of all the zones (I learnt this after a booking on priceline a couple of times). We didnt want to pay way too much for the hotel rooms as the flight price was more than we anticipated. However we wanted to stay in the Downtown area. So we decided on a 3*. I started bidding with $55 which I knew might not work. Downtown 3* - $55 - Rejected Added rebid zone - $65 - Rejected Added rebid zone - $70 - Rejected Added rebid zone - $75 - Accepted. Renaissance Seattle Hotel Downtown Seattle 515 Madison Street Seattle, Washington 98104 Two days here came out to $180 with the taxes included. The rate for this hotel per Expedia and Orbitz is $209 per night. We got it for around 1/3 rd the price which is incredible! And the location seems wonderful. We dont plan to even rent a car for this 2 day trip as this place seems to be in the free bus service zone and most of the attractions we want to see are downtown. As always thanks a lot for your excellent advice. This website rocks!
  11. I have checked hotwire but dont see anything for resorts. For the maximum bid, I would like it to be around $100 or below.
  12. I want to book a day at one of the resorts in San Antonio or adjoining areas. I had seen a few postings in this board on this topic. I am looking for booking it next weekend (05/13 - 05/14) if the price is right. Can you guys suggest what is the price I'm most likely to pay and the strategy I need to adopt? Thanks for all the great advice you give.
  13. New York was a blast! The hotel was great and its location was wonderful. It was very cold though (atleast for a South Texan) but me and my gf enjoyed every moment of our stay. :)
  14. My third hotel reservation thru priceline with help from betterbidding.com! Thought of taking my girlfriend on a trip to Austin this weekend for Valentines. Bid for $30 for a 2* hotel in Austin South, SW, Downtown but couldnt get one. Finally I got one in Austin North, La Quinta Inn (xpedia and hotel.com say its 2.5* - not sure). With taxes it came out to $41. The best price I could see in regular travel websites is $84(with taxes). I pay less than half that much! Thank you so much for helping save so much money. This board is so very cool! And I used savingsbarn.com to get to priceline! Kris
  15. Yup the hotel is located in the Corpus Christi North zone. Kris
  16. I used priceline to book a hotel in NY and got the confidence to try it once more for a weekend trip with my gf to corpus Christi tonight(1/28/06 - 1/29/06). Tried a 3* hotel. My highest offer was $60 and all my offers were rejected(probably because it was a last minute thing). So I thought of getting a 2* hotel. Got the La Quinta Inn Corpus Christi North for $35 for one night. With taxes it came to around $47. The weather seems to be good enough tomorrow and I think we are going to go to the beach in the morning and see the sunrise! Thanks for running such a great website! And yes I used savingsbarn.com to get to priceline! Kris
  17. Me and my girlfriend decided on a threshold of $110 for a hotel room and started the bidding with this price in mind. We tried for 4* hotels and used the strategy you suggested till we reached $110. All the bids were rejected. So we included 3* hotels and re-bid. We started with $90 and got rejected. Then we bid $100 and we ended up getting a room! It is in the Roosevelt Hotel. For 3 nights it is $358 including taxes. When my girlfriend saw the pictures in the hotel's website, she got so excited! She absolutely loves it!! Plus the location of the hotel seems to be wonderful! Thanks a lot for helping us book a hotel! I sure will let a lot of friends know about this cool website! I used Savingsbarn.com for getting to priceline. :) Kris
  18. Thanks for your prompt reply. I wouldnt mind a 4* hotel if its just a few dollars more than a 3* particularly if there is a big difference in quality.
  19. This is the first time me and my girlfriend are going to be in NYC. I am looking for a hotel in Midtown East or Midtown West (based on whatever little analysis of the areas I could do and also based on some of the posts here) for 3 nights (Feb 25- Feb 28). I would like it to be 2* - 3* for around $75-$100. This is also the first time I am going to use priceline. Can you please let me know if I could get a room around the price and possibly good hotels in those areas and strategies. Thanks in advance.. Kris
