  1. Got this one on my first bid. Guess I could have started lower. Used Savingsbarn link. 2. Sorry, just saw the reply. I started w/ downtown/gaslamp area and went all the way up to about 110$ w/ no luck. Went to the mission valley region and started at 75$ and went up in increments of 4 or 5$. My last offer was 95$ if my memory serves me correctly.
  3. Tried to get a 4* downtown, bidded up to 109$ w/ no success. Moved down to 3* mission valley, and finally got it. Saved about 25$ from the 124$ rate offered on Hotwire.
  4. Tried the 4* strategy all the way up to 130$. No luck. Went ahead and used 3*, and started at 85$, going up in 5$ increments. Got the Holiday Inn on the Bay for 100$. I don't remember seeing it on the list, so maybe this could be added. My parents stayed there and its not too bad (though I got the Hotel Solamar for the same price on the same dates a few weeks ago). Decent location, right across the street from the Star of India, the US Midway and some good seafood restaurants. Plus, you either have a view of the Bay or of Downtown/Airport. Holiday Inn On The Bay Check-In Date: Saturday, May 26, 2007 Check-Out Date: Monday, May 28, 2007 Your Offer Price: $100.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $200.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $31.97 Total Charges*: $231.97
  5. Looking to get a room in downtown SD for Saturday the 26th to Monday the 28th. I've already booked a room thru Priceline at the Hotel Solamar for 100$ about a month ago, but now the rates on the web site are around 430$. I'm hoping to get another 4* for less than 130$. but I'll probably settle for a 3* for a little less. Any thoughts?
  6. Not sure if I need a new post, but got news that more family is coming into town for this weekend. I figured I could get the same rate, but used up all my free re-bids up until 120$ on 4* hotels, and didn't get accepted. I checked the Hotel Solamar's web site and their rooms are now going for 430$ a night. It's clear that I probably won't be getting the same hotel, but anything downtown should work. How high do you think I need to go? I'm even open to maybe doing a 3* downtown. Any suggestions on opening bids for the 3*? Thanks.
  7. Got this on the first bid. Stayed at the hotel on three occassions, and was impressed. Much cheaper than the 181$ rate for the hotel on Hotwire, and about 20$ cheaper than the villas on Hotwire. Maybe could have started lower. Used Savings Barn link. Your Offer Price: $100.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $200.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $32.13 Total Charges*: $232.13
  8. I booked this for family that is coming to town for Memorial Day. Great hotel, the bar is always packed and there is a Padres game that weekend (the hotel is a couple of blocks away): Started at 90$, used free re-bids up until I hit 99$. Used the Savings Barn link. Hotel Solamar, A Kimpton Hotel Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $198.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $31.76 Total Charges*: $229.76
  9. I too booked some rooms at the Caesars for the St. Patricks Day/first weekend of March Madness. After a quick email or two to Caesars, they made it clear they weren't budging and only offering the 15% discount plus upgrade. My question is should I take it or is there something better? The rate ends up being around $290 per night. Its a nice room and its an expensive weekend. Any thoughts?
  10. This hotel has been downgraded to a 2 1/2* hotel (got partial refund) and can update the hotel list.
  11. Unfortunately, couldn't wait too much longer, so went through and got it. Doesn't look great and might not deserve the 3* but we'll see. New property to add to the list. Used SB link. The Riverpark Inn 350 South Freeway Tucson, Arizona 85745 (520) 239-2300 2 room(s) @ $65.00 per night x 2 night(s) $260.00 Hotel Taxes and fees: $37.35 Hotel Subtotal $297.35 Total Price $297.35
  12. Not quite sure what hotel this is. 3* hotel in Central Tucson for Mother's Day Weekend/Grad Weekend (5/12-5/14) Shuttle Restaurant Complimentary Breakfast Pool Fitness Center High Speed Internet Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Couldn't get a resort for under a 100$ on priceline, or a 3* for under 60$ on priceline, so I'm looking at this one. Any guesses? Thanks Sorry, I forgot to add that it was $61/night. Thanks.

  16. First bid of 50$ was rejected. Second bid accepted at 53$. Congratulations, you got your price of $53 for a 4-star hotel room. 17. It was the Sofitel San Francisco Bay Hotel. 78$ a night. I had to buy w/ a different account b/c everytime I logged in on my old account on Hotwire, this hotel would not show up...instead giving me the other 4* hotel for 114$ a night, w/ only the 4 amenities.
  18. Of course when I go back to look at it on Hotwire, the 4* one that I mentioned originally is back on w/ the same 4 amenities and going for 114$ a night... any guesses? And w/ regards to the other one w/ more amenities for 78$ a night, could that be the Marriott?
  19. Actually, now it isn't on there anymore. And I am doing 9/9/06 for 1 night, 2 adults and see a 4* for 78$ a night w/: airport shuttle restaurant pool fitness center hi-speed internet business center
  20. Hello, I'm trying to book a hotel in the San Mateo-RWC region on 9/9 for one night and you guys didn't seem to list any 4* hotels for this region on Hotwire. It's 114$ a night and its amenities are: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness Center, and Business Center. I also checked your priceline hotels and you guys seem to mention the Marriot and the Sofitel. I've used Priceline once (last week, thanks to this forum) and am afraid that if I start to push the price up to high that a hotel in one of the other regions will accept it. I'd rather just stay in this region for a higher price. Any tips?
