  1. Can someone help me with a bid (and re-bid) strategy for NYC, 4*, Times Square District for 5/23 - 5/25?
  2. Yes Romelle....thats it! Sorry for not being more specific. I'd want a 4*, but want to do the free rebids to ensure I'm around Time Square. Can you help with that? If I remember, there are 4 zones I can do this, right?
  3. I've been here before and have been successful. However, I forget how to bid on NYC hotels, to ensure I get a 4*. I remember that certain areas had to be added, but just forget. Can someone help? Looking for a 4*, 5/23/09 - 5/25/09, undetermined price range, but will start the bidding at $100 and move up. Thanks!
  4. After 18 bids, starting at $150...I finally landed a winning bid: $235 Sofitel 4* MTW 2 Rooms 5/25/07-5/28/07
  5. Does anyone know of any hotels that offer 2 bedroom suites for around $450-500 per night?
  6. We checked out the Affina...and we'd all prefer something else. The Millenium Hilton is our backup. If we are not staying in MTW, then we will stay there. All that aside, and based on my previoius bidding history (included in previous posts) will you please recommend a bidding strategy. Thanks for you help thereuare.
  7. I am getting completely shutout by Priceline right now. Today I rebid: Bid #5 MTW, 4*, 2 rooms, $185 - REJECTED Bid #6 MTW / UES, 4*, 2 rooms, $197 - REJECTED Bid #7 MTW / UWS, 4*, 2 rooms, $205 - REJECTED Bid #8 MTW / UWS / UES, 4*, 2 rooms, $215 - REJECTED WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW?
  8. Yes, I'd still like to keep bidding 4*, MTW, 2 Rooms, 5/25/07-5/28/07, $230 max I will take the Affina under consideration. I know it's a big jump from MTW, to downtown. I know Hilton and always prefer to stay there if its up to me. Back to bidding.....what do you think I should try next?
  9. My friends are well aware of the fishbowl comments about Times Square, but my friend's wife has made up her mind that that is where she wants to be. So, there we have it. I've tried to convince him of the Hilton Millenium. That may be appealing to him because of it's proximity to Wall St, Ground Zero, Liberty, etc. But...it would only be a backup option if our bids go to high and we don't get what we want in MTW. I went ahead and booked the Millenium Hilton for $239/night (2 rooms). So, I guess that you could say our max bid would be $235. I'm not particularly keen on MTE, just because of the Waldorf. I stayed there 2 years ago and found it to be disgusting. That is the last place I'd want to stay.....just my personal preference.
  10. Since we are going up with friends, and it is there first time in NYC, they really want to stay in the heart of Times Square, so I would say that we are somewhat limited to MTW. I'd like to keep the max bid under $225 per night if possible. I'm not sure if its an issue or not with Priceline, but we will need 2 rooms (4 adults). We will be arriving in NYC on 5/25/2007 and checking out on 5/28/2007. We'd like to keep our hotel rating limited to a 4*. Do you think the price/date/bid combination is possible? I don't have a backup reserved yet, not sure if I will either. Do I have a better chance of getting a good deal this far in advance, or should I wait until closer to my travel time?
  11. You will love the Hilton Times Square. Its location is perfect fo the occasional tourist/visitor. If it is your first time to NYC, I recommend taking a laptop if you have one. It really helps when trying to organize your day's events.
  12. We haven't made a final determination on this trip yet. My fiance are still trying to figure everything out on this.
  13. How often can I rebid? 72 or 24 hours?
  14. REJECTED AGAIN! NOW WHAT? MTW / UES / UWS 4* $175 2 Rooms 5/25/07 - 5/28/07 Does anyone have any other suggestions for me? We really want to be in the MTW area.
  15. I NEED HELP! ANY SUGGESTIONS? Rejected: MTW / UES 4* $145 2 Rooms 5/25/07 - 5/28/07
  16. I've been here before and have "rebid" only once before last year. It was easy for me then, but now I'm having trouble seeing which areas do and don't have 4* hotels. I have been rejected for: MTW, 4*, $130, 2 rooms Which other areas do not have 4* hotels? Please help
  17. I just got a rejection. I selected MTW, 4*, and $130/per night. What other areas should I select so I can rebid the 4* and be sure to be in MTW if my bid is accepted?
  18. Hi, looking for a 4* in the Theatre District. We are going to NYC with another couple, and it will be there first time. While I'd prefer to stay in SoHo, I recommended to them that we stay in Times Square since it is there first time (even though the crowds are crazy!) Is there a recommended entry level price to bid for a 4* in this area (MTW)? Thanks Jeff
  19. My finace' and I are getting married June 2007. I am trying to start the search for a nice beachfront hotel. Obviousily money is the most important thing. I'd prefer 3.5* and up. Does anyone have suggestions where to start? I just looked and saw the 4* Outrigger Reef on the Beach for $154/night and 4* Hilton Hawaiian Village for $256/night. Are these good prices? HELP PLEASE? I also need airfare from ORF (Norfolk, Richmond, VA)
  20. Successful Bidding = 4* Sofitel NYC 2/18/06-2/20/06 (2 nights) $200/night Priceline NYC Bidding Strategy Rejected - $125 MTW Rejected - $145 MTW, UES Accepted - $200 MTW, UES, UWS The Sofitel is ranked by Tripadvisor.com as the #1 NYC Hotel! http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g60763-N...ork-Hotels.html
  21. Sorry, I didn't intentionally double post. My questions started out as a Hotwire question, then morphed into a Priceline questions. All that aside...... My $125 bid was for a 4* in NYC-MTW. I'd like a 4* hotel in MTW 2/18/06-2/20/06 (checkout). I know I can't specify which hotel I want at Priceline, but I didn't know if all of your experience with this stuff had led you on to tips & tricks with regard to getting specific hotels. Yes, the Hilton Time Square is where I want to be....if I can't be there I'll live. But, MTW is essential.
  22. Ideally, I'd be at the Hilton Time Square, I love that hotel but don't want to pay the retail price ($288 Net Direct) I was quoted. Can someone offer some assistance how I can get a 4* NYC-MTW room for 2/18/06-2/20/06 (2 nights)? I bid $125 and it was rejected. Priceline said I can't bid again for 72 hours unless I change the area....I really want to be in Time Square as it will be my girlfriend's (soon to be fiance) first time in NYC. Help Please! :) Jeff
  23. I'm trying to find which hotel the Hilton Time Square is on Hotwire.com.....can I get some help please? What time of day is cheapest on Hotwire, do prices change often? Do hotels sometimes appear and "disappear" from the lists?
