Been looking at a nice family Chicago trip after Christmas. Its a great time to go there for us. Easy drive from Michigan. Uber around the city if it is too cold. Hoping to land a 5 star hotel with indoor pool at a great price.
Currently, Hotwire has this:

Free internet

Business center Fitness center Indoor pool(s)Pet friendly Pool(s)Restaurant(s)Smoke-free rooms
417 reviews on hotwire. 5 of 5 Tripadvisor
I see there are only a few 5 starts on the hotel listings in the mag mile area. Any ideas which this one is?
Kids really want a pool and I want to make sure this one has a nice one.
Thanks.
Just booked the following for 1 night on July 1st. 2 adults, 2 kids. 85% recommended, 4.5 on Tripadvisor (501-1000 reviews) and 4 star with the following
Amenities
Airport shuttle Business center Fitness center Internet access Pool(s) Restaurant(s)
The booking went thru to Renaissance for a out the door price of 94.72. We fly in late and will be at this hotel for maybe 8 hours total. Just wanted a shuttle service and hopefully uber in the morning to Royal Pacific in the morning. I booked RPR directly, FYI.

Thanks for the feedback. Two nights for 500 per night, while expensive, provides three days of express passes at Royal pacific. And room is club level so we can probably have a meal a day and save some money and add some convenience. Can walk to the park too.
I am going to stick with direct reservations. So you can close this one out.
Until my next BBpost...
Thanks again.
2 adults 2 kids; 6 and 10. Not sure of a max budget. But I have already reserved royal pacific resort club level for about $500 per night. 7/2 and 7/3 nights only. Check in 7/2 and checkout 7/4.
If I can get a much better price, I can cancel the reservation. I know it will be busy that weekend and wanted to make sure I at least have an on site hotel with express pass booked.
Thx.
You can close this one. I would like to open again to see if I can get a response to these. I think this one appears complicated....or something. Thanks!
Thanks for combining the two. Anyone have any feedback on these selections?
Trying to get on site Universal deal for express passes. I see these 4* hotels. Any idea on each of these hotels? I suspect one is the hard rock or royal pacific....

I used the BiddingHelper.com. 2 adults 2 kids (6 and 10). This is what I got when narrowed to 4* and Universal Area. Is this an onsite Universal? If it is and I book, I believe I can add 2 kids to reservation?

Thanks for all the info. My friend came thru and we got a pretty decent deal, club level and a nice hotel on Mag mile using her discount. Nice to have connections. and betterbidding as a resource.
A 4.5* Mag Mile N-WT area w/Boutique, Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Spa, Pet Friendly is likely the W. That property was recently renovated, giving it an entirely different look and feel.
The W properties aren't the most family-friendly, but I think it would be fine, especially if you're primarily looking for a nice place to sleep.
The location is okay; it's an easy walk to Navy Pier, but the problem with that in December is that there's little going on at Navy Pier, given that rides are not happening and it can be very bitter outside at the pier in the middle of Winter. There are some things going on inside at Navy Pier, but it will be fairly quiet. Not a huge fan of the Pier, I often recommend Lincoln Park Zoo and the Peggy Notabert Nature Museum instead.
Is a pool a must?

I agree on Navy Pier. Its a summer time thing and rather cheesy. Pool is kinda a must. That is the drawback downtown chicago, pools are plentiful. I have a friend that works at a nice hotel which I wont name. She is working on getting us a club level room and the hotel has a good pool for kids. If that falls thru, then W Lakeshore or Holiday inn may be in play.
Is the second option a 3 1/2 star or 4 1/2 star property?

Option 2 is boutique. Forgot the price $70 (vs normal 110) per night. Probably W Lakeshore.
Interesting hotel. Strange location. Anyone with thoughts for a family weekend at this hotel (10 and 6 year olds)?
OK. Here are my options now. Dates 12/27-12/30. 2 adults, 2 kids.

Thanks. I now am looking 12/27 thru 12/30. I will repost this new listing. We have stayed at both hotels interncontinental and sheraton grand. sheraton def better for kid swimming. i agree IC pool is cool but old and not kid friend. more for a workout.
I am looking at booking this hotel and I think its intercontinental or sheraton; hoping its the Sheraton because the pool is better for kids.

i decided to just stay at port orleans for another night to make it ez. i cannot report any of these hotel locations.
After looking at hotel links here. Appears that 4.5 i drive south sea world location is likely hyatt regency...?
Please provide a follow-up for your prior Bangkok Hotwire thread. (post what you decided for that stay within that thread, then reply to this thread and we would be happy to take a look and try to ID the above listing.)

Sorry for leaving that request out there. I put in a reply on that. My bangkok trip was last minute and my company wanted me to book hotel directly but not a 5 star hotel for me on that trip. Majestic grande is pretty nice tho.
I ended up going direct to booking at Grand Majestic due to my work wanting me to book direct with hotels internationally. Therefore, I did not follow up on this thread. My apologies.

It's gone now. I'll just stick with what I have.
Looking at previous replies. It's the country inn and suites right?

2 adults and 2 kids. But, I decided not to pursue. I have platinum status on IHG. Not a great points program, I know. But, I did book mart plaza Holiday Inn Express for 99 per night including parking. And I will likely get upgrade to a really great city view. Parking is easily 30 per night (more like 42). So the room is about 50-60 per night.
Not a five star, I am aware but $354 out the door for 3 nights with parking is hard to beat. I was curious to go for a 4.5 or 5 star. But those are 71 per night plus parking for not knowing where you end up. I didnt want Intercontinental because the pool is a lap pool; very beautiful but not great for fun. So IHG hotel it is.
I will sound like a ihg slappy. But this is an underrated hotel with great views of the city. Great views. Self park so you save on tipping. Pool is decent too, I think. I will see what the kiddos think and post their feedback next week.
