  1. No in this case we have to leave our car there for a week. The two Halifax airport hotels have free parking. So even though I hate to pay full price ( because I'm now spoiled with the rates I get through priceline) when you take into account the cost of parking I guess it isn't so bad. I was just hoping that they were " biddable " hotels.
  2. Does anyone know if either the Halifax Airport Hotel or the Hilton Garden Airport hotel are available for bidding? I've become spoiled by priceline and I am trying to avoid paying full price. Thanks
  3. First bid was $44 which was rejected with suggestion that I raise my bid by $12 which I did. Second bid of$56 was accepted for 2 rooms ( 56 each ) for May 5,6,7 Although I think I could have done slightly better, this is still an excellent deal. I did go through savings barn. Thanks again for the great site.
  4. Feb. 22 Halifax Westin 43 US dollars , $56 .50 with taxes and fees (US ) I first bid started at 42 and they came back and said the bid had no chance of being accepted because it was too low. I raised it by $1 and it was accepted on the first try. This room is presently listed at $149 ( Canadian ) before taxes. So I'm pretty pleased!!!
  5. Using Savings Barn I got the Halifax Westin for 43 ( US dollars per night ) . With taxes and fees the total comes to $54.60 ( US ) per night. The dates are Feb.23 and 24. ( I still need the 22nd but I messed that up ) I've stayed at this hotel before and it is very nice. More than a 3 star in my opinion. Interestingly I first bid for the 24th and when that was accepted they asked if I would like to extend my stay for the same price. As I also needed the 22 and 23 I took the 23 rd ( can only extend by 1 night ). Anyway that was a pleasant surprise. I know my method of doing this looks insane but I'm still fairly new at the game. Thanks for the great inforation on this forum. :)
  6. If you look at my PRICLINE post ( it"s almost to the bottom of the page) titled May5, 6, and 7 there are instructions there for getting a 4 star in Downtown Toronto. I haven't had any success yet but I've still got lots of 72 hour periods left. I've bid several times by now so I'm pretty familiar with the process so if you have any questions that I cold help with just let me know.
  7. HI Mtlgirl, I too am trying to get ( actually 2 ) rooms in Toronto for the nights of May 5, 6, and 7. I have repeatedly tried bids higher than thoses I have seen accepted ( but for closer to the dates desired) and my bids have always been rejected. So I am now convinced that it must be better to wait until you are a bit closer to the desired time that you want the rooms. I'm looking for 3 stars in downtown Toronto and I see on this form that they are going for between 40 and 50 a night. While it is tempting to raise the bid I'm thinking that if I'm patient enough eventually I'll strike a winner.
  8. Thanks for the advice. I'll keep trying now and then, but as you suggest I'll get serious about it in February.
  9. Hi There, Congratulations on your winning bid. I've been trying on PRICELINE to get a 3 * in DT Toronto for May 5, 6, 7 ( 2 rooms ) yesrterday I bid up to $55 which was rejected. I wonder why, when you were able to get one for $40?? If anyone has any idea would you please let me know. Would it be because I'm looking for 2 rooms???
  10. Just did it again, I must have made a mistake last time. Of course you are right, Toronto East and Scarborough - Pickering have no hotels above 2 star.
  11. I have a question regarding the re-bid zones. I went to the priceline site and clicked on each zone for Toronto. Previusly I understood that Toronto East and Scarborough were free re-bid zones if bidding for a 3 star. But when I click on these zones it indicates that there are 3 stars available in these areas. This kind of scares me because I have used these zones for free re-bids , thankfully they were rejected . Am I checking correctly for star levels??
  12. Hi there, I did exactly what you said but again my bids were rejected. Maybe it's too far away from the dates that I want the rooms?? Thanks again for your help.
  13. PS - I didn't close the priceline window in case there is still hope. Also I am using savings barn.
  14. I just tried to get the rooms using the above instructions. Unfortunately all bids were rejected. Do you think I should wait awile and try the same thing or should I increase my bids?? Thank you once again.
  15. I'm getting ready to bid for 2 rooms in downtown Toronto for the nights of May 5,6, and 7. I looked at an example of another winning bid in the same location and they used Tpronto East for first re-bid and Scarborough -Pickering for second re- bid. So I assume it is safe for me to do the same. Is it Savings barn the site I should access priceline through?? Is there a time limit for responding ( i.e do I have time to ask you a question before responding to priceline or must it be done immediatley?? ) Thanks for your help.
  16. 3 nights. Do you think $60 ( US ) would be a reasonable maximum??
  17. No sorry I don't. The next time I'll keep better records. I think I got excited.
  18. I want to get 2 rooms in downtown Toronto for May 5,6,and 7. 3 star would be fine ( actually 2 star would probably be OK but I don't think there are many available in that location ) . I have only bid one previous time so any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thanks
  19. Yes it is in the downtown zone. No it wasn't my first bid. I think I started aound $60 and worked up . I can't remember exactley but I think they asked me if I would like to increase my offer. And thanks for the advice re starting another topic for my next bid.
  20. I'm new to this forum and new to bidding on priceline. I tried a few low bids at 72 hour intervals which were rejected. 3 star in downtown Toronto and I was bidding around $50 for May 4,2006. So I tried a $70 bid and it was accepted at the Radisson. In canadian dollars with tax it comes to around $94. Probably not the greatest deal but it is still much cheaper than getting a room by conventional methods. Now I'm working on getting 2 rooms in downtown Toronto for May 5,6,7,. I'm a little more confident now so I tried low bids ( around $50 ) but I was also brave enough this time to do the free rebid stuff. So far rejected but I've got lots of time. Any corrective critism welcomed ( either on my stategy or my post )
